EARLY PREGNANCY LOSS: INVESTIGATING THE ROLE OF PROGESTERONE-INDUCED BLOCKING FACTOR.

Aim of the study - the assessment of the diagnostic value of Progesterone-Induced Blocking Factor (PIBF) in Early Pregnancy Loss (EPL), in naturally conceived women and in women who underwent In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). In the prospective and retrospective study 50 naturally conceived women were divided into three groups: Group I - patients with progressive pregnancy; Group II- patients with EPL; Group III - patients with biochemical pregnancy (BP). 36 pregnant women after IVF were divided into three groups: Group IV - patients with progressive pregnancy, Group V - patients with EPL, and Group VI - patients with BP.

DENTAL CARIES AWARENESS AND RISK ASSESSMENT IN INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS OF GEORGIAN UNIVERSITIES.

Dental caries development in students depends on many factors. Our research aims at studying the dependence of the incidence of caries among foreigners residing in Georgia on caries awareness and behaviors Oral health status of the study population was assessed using the caries intensity DMFT index offered by the World Health Organization (WHO). Patients were divided into two groups, according to the DMFT Index, with the first group comprising patients with low and very low DMFT index, and the second group - with moderate and high (<2,6) (>2,7) DMFT index.

ASSESSING THE PATIENT WITH ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME IN LIGHT OF THE NEW 2023 ACR/EULAR ANTIPHOSPHOLIPID SYNDROME CLASSIFICATION CRITERIA - CASE REPORT.

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an acquired multisystem autoimmune disease characterized clinically by vascular thrombotic events, or pregnancy complications or nonthrombotic manifestations in the presence of persistently elevated antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL). We highlighted our case, which fulfills both the old APS classification criteria (1999,2006) _and the newest one (2023). The latest demonstrates very high specificity (99%) for APS diagnosis, compared to the older revised Sapporo criteria (86%).

Microbiomes are ecosystems, and their stability can impact the health of their hosts. Theory predicts that predators influence ecosystem stability. Phages are key predators of bacteria in microbiomes, but phages are unusual predators because many have lysogenic life cycles.

Combination of Searches for Resonant Higgs Boson Pair Production Using pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector.

A combination of searches for a new resonance decaying into a Higgs boson pair is presented, using up to 139  fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The combination includes searches performed in three decay channels: bb[over ¯]bb[over ¯], bb[over ¯]τ^{+}τ^{-}, and bb[over ¯]γγ. No excess above the expected Standard Model background is observed and upper limits are set at the 95% confidence level on the production cross section of Higgs boson pairs originating from the decay of a narrow scalar resonance with mass in the range 251 GeV-5 TeV.

Search for Nearly Mass-Degenerate Higgsinos Using Low-Momentum Mildly Displaced Tracks in pp Collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS Detector.

Higgsinos with masses near the electroweak scale can solve the hierarchy problem and provide a dark matter candidate, while detecting them at the LHC remains challenging if their mass splitting is O(1  GeV). This Letter presents a novel search for nearly mass-degenerate Higgsinos in events with an energetic jet, missing transverse momentum, and a low-momentum track with a significant transverse impact parameter using 140  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data at sqrt[s]=13  TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment. Impact of subjective sleep quality on objective measures of neurocognitive dysfunction in patients with major depressive disorder.

Background: Sleep disturbances are prevalent in major depressive disorder (MDD). MDD and sleep disturbances are both linked to cognitive impairments. Studies exploring the mechanisms and impact of sleep disturbances on neurocognitive functioning in depressed patients are lacking and proper assessment and therapeutic interventions for sleep disturbances are not part of clinical management of MDD.

Anthracycline-induced hypertension in pediatric cancer survivors: unveiling the long-term cardiovascular risks.

Background: Long-term cardiovascular complications are common among pediatric cancer survivors, and anthracycline-induced hypertension has become an essential reason for concern. Compared to non-cancer controls, survivors have a higher prevalence of hypertension, and as they age, their incidence rises, offering significant dangers to cardiovascular health.

Azimuthal Angle Correlations of Muons Produced via Heavy-Flavor Decays in 5.02 TeV Pb+Pb and pp Collisions with the ATLAS Detector.

Angular correlations between heavy quarks provide a unique probe of the quark-gluon plasma created in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. Results are presented of a measurement of the azimuthal angle correlations between muons originating from semileptonic decays of heavy quarks produced in 5.02 TeV Pb+Pb and pp collisions at the LHC.

TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT DISORDERS AND THE WAY OF THEIR OPTIMIZATION: A LITERATURE REVIEW.

The literature review aims to investigate temporomandibular joint disorders and modern approaches to their treatment. An extensive literature search was performed using Scopus, ScienceDirect, and PubMed databases to identify the most relevant published articles. The year of publication was limited to over the past 5 years.

FEASIBILITY AND EFFECTIVENESS OF GENERAL ANESTHESIA WITH OPIOIDS VERSUS OPIOID-FREE ANESTHESIA PLUS TRANSVERSUS ABDOMINIS PLANE BLOCK ON POSTOPERATIVE OUTCOMES AFTER MINI GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY.

Opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) is increasingly used at present in surgical practice by many hospitals as a new and very promising anesthesiologic regimen. This study aimed to compare the efficacy of standard general anesthesia with opioids with so-called opioid-free anesthesia on postoperative outcomes of patients who underwent gastric bypass surgery. This randomized, single-blind clinical study enrolled 103 patients scheduled for elective gastric bypass surgery.

Numerous studies have been conducted in different countries (Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Australia, etc.

Genetic recombination-mediated evolutionary interactions between phages of potential industrial importance and prophages of their hosts within or across the domains of Escherichia, Listeria, Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Staphylococcus.

Background: The in-depth understanding of the role of lateral genetic transfer (LGT) in phage-prophage interactions is essential to rationalizing phage applications for human and animal therapy, as well as for food and environmental safety. This in silico study aimed to detect LGT between phages of potential industrial importance and their hosts.

Methods: A large array of genetic recombination detection algorithms, implemented in SplitsTree and RDP4, was applied to detect LGT between various Escherichia, Listeria, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Staphylococcus, Pseudomonas, and Vibrio phages and their hosts.

Assessment of the Impact of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices on Patients' Quality of Life.

Introduction: Assessing the quality of life serves as a crucial metric during various therapeutic or surgical procedures. The rise in cardiac electronic device implantations in recent years underscores the significance of evaluating the quality of life among such patients.

Materials And Methods: We conducted a study focusing on the quality of life of 438 patients with cardiac implantable electronic devices (cardiac pacemakers, cardioverter-defibrillators, cardiac resynchronization therapy devices).

The influence of COVID-19 on temporo-mandibular disorders.

Temporomandibular disorders are multi-factorial conditions affected by psychological, biomechanical, and neuromuscular factors. Stress and anxiety experienced during the pandemic are capable of influencing and aggravating temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain. The study aimed to analyze whether the coronavirus infection can directly affect these diseases.

Study of High-Transverse-Momentum Higgs Boson Production in Association with a Vector Boson in the qqbb Final State with the ATLAS Detector.

This Letter presents the first study of Higgs boson production in association with a vector boson (V=W or Z) in the fully hadronic qqbb final state using data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 137  fb^{-1}. The vector bosons and Higgs bosons are each reconstructed as large-radius jets and tagged using jet substructure techniques. Dedicated tagging algorithms exploiting b-tagging properties are used to identify jets consistent with Higgs bosons decaying into bb[over ¯].

A detailed analysis of the technological process has uncovered divergent opinions and significant disparities in recommendations concerning the fabrication of zirconium dioxide prosthodontic constructs.

Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common endocrine cancer. The increase in thyroid cancer incidence has been observed in both developed and developing countries in different Geographical and climate areas The share of thyroid cancer drastically increased during the last decades in Georgia and ranked as the second most prevalent cause of cancer among women. Although for addressing the burden of cancer, important steps were taken by the State during the last decades, the burden of this disease is still significant.

HIV stigma and other barriers to COVID-19 vaccine uptake among Georgian people living with HIV/AIDS: A mixed-methods study.

We conducted a study in Georgia to examine behavioral insights and barriers to COVID-19 vaccine uptake among people living with HIV (PLWH). Between December 2021-July 2022, we collected quantitative data to evaluate participants' demographics, COVID-19 knowledge, attitude, perception, and HIV stigma as potential covariates for being vaccinated against COVID-19. We conducted a multivariate analysis to define the factors independently associated with COVID-19 vaccination among PLWH.

Measurement of the Centrality Dependence of the Dijet Yield in p+Pb Collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16 TeV with the ATLAS Detector.

ATLAS measured the centrality dependence of the dijet yield using 165  nb^{-1} of p+Pb data collected at sqrt[s_{NN}]=8.16  TeV in 2016. The event centrality, which reflects the p+Pb impact parameter, is characterized by the total transverse energy registered in the Pb-going side of the forward calorimeter.

ONYCHOLYSIS AS A COMPLICATION OF TAXANE-BASED CHEMOTHERAPY WITH CONCOMITANT CRYOTHERAPY IN BREAST CANCER PATIENTS: TWO CASE REPORTS.

Nail changes are a common side effect of taxane chemotherapy, although onycholysis is quite a rare complication the correct management of which is poorly standardized. These case reports provide a description and analysis of onycholysis, a rare but noteworthy complication observed during taxane-based chemotherapy with concomitant cryotherapy in two patients with breast cancer. Despite prophylactic measures, both cases experienced nail complications during Paclitaxel treatment, underlining the complex nature of onycholysis during taxane therapy and highlighting the critical role of nail assessment and infection screening.
