Introduction: Surgical management of oral cavity carcinoma involves composite resection with reconstruction. Comorbidities increase the risk of perioperative complications. Objective stratification is important for uneventful recovery.

Familial Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease in an Indian Kindred.

It is now known that the inherited prion disease is caused by over 60 different mutations in the Prion protein (PRNP) gene. Four missense mutations at codons 102, 178, 200 and 210, account for over 95% of these cases. In this study we describe, a large Indian family with familial Creutzfeldt Jakob Disease (fCJD).

Rare case of peristomal pemphigus vulgaris in an operated case of carcinoma of the rectum.

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV), in association with malignancy of the rectum, is a very rare presentation. We present here a case of a 58-year-old woman presenting with atypical skin eruptions in the peristomal area, which gradually progressed to her entire body. These lesions were later diagnosed to be PV.

A comparative study of bilateral subthalamic nucleus DBS in Parkinson's disease in young versus old: A single institutional study.

To compare outcome between young [<65 yrs] and old [>65 yrs] patients of Parkinson's disease who underwent bilateral STN DBS a non-randomized retrospective study was done. 20 young (Young group) and 20 elderly (Old group) patients with matched baseline UPDRS were selected and followed up for 2 years after deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. The total and motor UPDRS, before, one year and two years after surgery was compared.

Duodenal atresia with familial apple peel syndrome: case study with review of literature.

This is a case report of a neonate who was antenatally diagnosed with jejunal atresia which turned out to be duodenal atresia with apple peel syndrome. A previous sibling, who also had apple peel but with jejunal atresia, succumbed to sepsis after surgery. The first sibling had jejunal stenosis and had died of sepsis following surgery.

Myriads of Arrythmias and Cardiac Arrest as Modes of Presentation in Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy.

Takatsubo cardiomyopathy (TC) is a relative novel condition that has been increasingly reported. Studies have shown the incidence on TC to be 1-2 % of all patients presenting with acute coronary syndrome which amounts a large subset of patients. Various arrhythmias have been reported with TC, varying from benign QTc prolongation to serious life threatening ventricular arrhythmias.

Objective: :To compare efficacy and safety of a biosimilar, Bevacizumab (Hetero) vs reference medicinal product (Bevacizumab, Roche) as first line therapy in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in combination with chemotherapy.

Methods: Patients of aged 18 to 65 with histologically pre-confirmed mCRC and treatment naïve with unresectable metastatic disease or distant metastases were enrolled and randomized to receive either Hetero-Bevacizumab or RMPBevacizumab along with chemotherapy (XELOX or FOLFOX-4) regimen over a period of 24 weeks (up to 8 cycles of Hetero-Bevacizumab/RMP-Bevacizumab+ XELOX regimen (each cycle of 3 weeks) or up to 12 cycles of Hetero-Bevacizumab/ RMP-Bevacizumab + FOLFOX-4 regimen (each cycle of 2 weeks). Eosinophilic gastroenteritis: Atypical cause for chronic diarrhea in human immunodeficiency virus-associated immunosuppression.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is an uncommon disease in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised. We describe a 57-year-old male with human immunodeficiency virus who presented to us with chronic diarrhea. He had no history of allergies and had significant weight loss, normal systemic examination, and a complete blood count showing no eosinophilia.

Coronary artery air embolism complicating a CT-guided percutaneous lung biopsy.

Coronary arterial air embolism is an extremely rare but readily recognizable condition on computed tomography (CT) that may complicate a lung biopsy. We present an incidence of symptomatic air embolism into the right coronary artery during a percutaneous CT-guided lung biopsy that was successfully recognized during the procedure and managed accordingly. An active search for this complication should be made when the patient deteriorates on table and the usual complications (pneumothorax, vasovagal shock, etc.

Dysautonomia and hyponatraemia as harbingers of Guillain-Barre syndrome.

A 56-year-old woman with a medical history of hypertension presented to our hospital with back pain, abdominal pain, vomiting and elevated blood pressure. The laboratory parameters including evaluation for secondary hypertension were within normal ranges at the time of presentation. During her hospitalisation, fluctuations in her blood pressure and pulse were observed which were attributed to autonomic disturbances, the cause of which was unknown.
