A 68-year-old male presented with a short history of exertional dyspnea and a provisional diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolism was made. However, chest radiograph and further investigations in the form of computed tomography pulmonary angiogram, magnetic resonance imaging of thorax, and whole body fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography-computed tomography revealed a large mass arising from the distal left pulmonary artery extending into adjacent lung and another lesion near the root of the main pulmonary artery, both of which showed post-contrast enhancement and intense FDG uptake. Tissue sampling by transthoracic computed tomography-guided biopsy and immunohistochemistry confirmed the diagnosis of pulmonary artery angiosarcoma.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a genetically heterogeneous neurodegenerative disease with poorly defined environmental influences. Genomic studies of PD patients have identified disease-relevant monogenic genes, rare variants of significance, and polygenic risk-associated variants. In this study, whole genome sequencing data from 90 young onset Parkinson's disease (YOPD) individuals are analyzed for both monogenic and polygenic risk.

Atrial fibrillation (AF), the most prevalent cardiac arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice, is linked with substantial morbidity and mortality due to accompanying risk of stroke and thromboembolism. Patients with AF are at a five-fold higher risk of suffering from a stroke. Anticoagulation therapy, with either vitamin K antagonists or novel oral anticoagulants (NOACs), is a standard approach to reduce the risk.

Background: Diagnosing sepsis early is important for its successful management. Various biomarkers are being used currently, but mostly they are either expensive or not readily available. This study aims to evaluate usefulness of automated immature granulocyte count (IG#) and immature granulocyte percentage (IG%) as early diagnostic markers of sepsis and compares it to other established predictive markers.

Objective: To assess if the unprecedented changes in lifestyle because of the lockdown initiated by the COVID-19 pandemic, which altered human behavior, and influenced purchase and consumption patterns, may have had an impact on the exposure to phthalates in Indian women undergoing in vitro fertilization/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVF/ICSI). To evaluate if the effects of the strict and lengthy lockdown in India, which promoted the new norms of stay-at-home and work-from-home, closure of beauty parlors, and restriction on public gatherings, may have contributed to a decrease in the exposure to phthalates like dibutyl phthalate and diethyl phthalate. These chemicals are found in many personal care products (PCPs) which include cosmetics and fragrances.

Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) of the gallbladder or the biliary tree are rare. Most of the current guidelines and protocols are derived from the experience of managing lung small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma or gastrointestinal NETs. But, the overall outcome of gallbladder NETs (GB-NETs) seems worse than similarly staged lung NETs and adenocarcinoma of the gallbladder.

Anal cancer in older adults: A Young International Society of Geriatric Oncology review paper.

J Geriatr Oncol

September 2022

Department of Geriatrics, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Medicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubiran, Mexico City, Mexico. Electronic address:

Anal cancer is an uncommon malignancy, however, its incidence has been increasing worldwide, including among older adults. The care of older patients with anal cancer requires a multidisciplinary and comprehensive team approach to ensure improved outcomes and maintenance of quality of life, and the geriatric assessment should be a key component in the evaluation of every older patient with anal cancer. Despite older adults representing a large proportion of patients with anal cancer, they were underrepresented in trials that defined currently accepted standard therapies, including definitive chemoradiotherapy.

Purpose: Comprehensive genomic profiling (CGP) assay is increasingly used in low-middle-income countries to detect clinically relevant genomic alterations despite its clinical benefits not being well known. Here, we describe the proportion of patients with advanced cancer in India who received targeted therapy for an actionable genetic alteration identified on CGP assays.

Methods: This was a multicenter, retrospective cohort study in adult patients with advanced nonhematologic malignancies who underwent a CGP test.
