This Review Article overviews the literature on diabetes insipidus (DI) associated with pregnancy and labor in Japan published from 1982 to 2019. The total number of patients collected was 361, however, only one-third of these cases had detailed pathophysiologic information enabling us to identify the respective etiology and subtype. Pregnancy-associated DI can be divided into 3 etiologies, central (neurogenic) DI, nephrogenic DI, and excess vasopressinase-associated DI.

Does exercise therapy improve patient-reported outcomes in rheumatoid arthritis? A systematic review and meta-analysis for the update of the 2020 JCR guidelines for the management of rheumatoid arthritis.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of exercise therapy on patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) as part of the process of updating the 2020 Japanese guidelines for the management of RA according to the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Japana Centra Revuo Medicina Web, and the Cochrane Library (from 2009 to 2018) to identify articles that evaluated PROs of exercise therapy and RA disease activity.

Results: A total of 662 articles were identified, including nine RCTs, and meta-analyses were performed on six RCTs on systemic exercise therapy and three RCTs on upper extremity exercise therapy.

This study describes the epidemiological characteristics of classical swine fever (CSF) outbreaks in Japan. The first case was confirmed in September 2018, 26 years after the last known case. Outbreaks occurred on 39 farms, 34 commercial farms, and 5 non-commercial farms, between September 2018 and August 2019.

Efficacy and safety of atypical antipsychotics for psychosis in Parkinson's disease: A systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis.

Introduction: We performed a systematic review and Bayesian network meta-analysis to clarify the relative efficacy and safety of pimavanserin compared to atypical antipsychotics for psychosis in Parkinson's disease (PD).

Methods: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Japana Centra Revuo Medicina Web were searched for relevant articles until October 31, 2019. Eligible randomized controlled trials were synthesized for efficacy (Brief Psychiatry Rating Scale [BPRS] and Clinical Global Impression Scale [CGI-S]) and safety (Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III [UPDRS-III] and dropouts due to adverse events).

Recently, there have been a number of reports concerning the utility of abdominal computed tomography (CT) for diagnosing overdose (OD). We herein report the summary and results of an analysis of these reports to assess the significance of CT for patients with OD. Searches of Ichushi (Japana Centra Revuo Medicine) and PubMed were carried out to identify articles from 1983 to 2019 using the key words "poisoning" and "abdominal computed tomography".

Background: Primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD) is a rare genetic disorder. Although the genetic tests and new diagnostic algorithms have recently been recommended, clinical signs and electron microscope (EM) findings have historically been the mainstays of diagnosis in Asia. The Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) started releasing washed PCs (WPCs) as a commercially approved blood product in September 2016. This retrospective multicenter study investigated the change in the number of transfused WPCs and the impact on the incidence of adverse reactions to PCs before and after the release.
