Recent studies have reported the hemostatic effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitors on HHT-related bleeding. A 67-year-old man with HHT underwent laparoscopic radical nephrectomy for right renal cell carcinoma discovered during an investigation of anemia.

Successful osimertinib treatment for Meckel's cave metastasis: a case report.

Osimertinib has emerged as the standard first-line treatment for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with EGFR mutations, offering improved tolerability and demonstrating superior efficacy against brain metastases in comparison with other tyrosine kinase inhibitors. The Meckel's cave is a dural recess in the posteromedial part of the middle cranial fossa that acts as a conduit for the trigeminal nerve between the anterior pontine cisterna and the cavernous sinus, and houses the Gasserian ganglion and proximal radicle of the trigeminal nerve. Trigeminal neuropathy, characterized by numbness and dysesthesia of the skin and mucous membranes of the face, poses diagnostic challenges and often requires differentiation from conditions, such as compression neuropathy, inflammation, and drug-induced reactions.

Radiotherapy for cytokeratin-positive interstitial reticulum cell (CIRC) tumor on epicardium: a case report.

Cytokeratin-positive interstitial reticulum cell (CIRC) tumor is an extremely rare malignant neoplasm and a subtype of fibroblastic reticular cell tumor, classified within the dendritic cell tumor group. We describe a case of an epicardial CIRC tumor that was resected and subsequently recurred in the left pulmonary hilum. This recurrence was treated with immunotherapy followed by radiotherapy.

Ovarian carcinosarcoma of heterologous type occurring in an endometriotic cyst with 3-year recurrence-free survival: a case report and literature review.

A 41-year-old premenopausal woman presented to our hospital with lower abdominal distention and epigastralgia. An ovarian endometriotic cyst was noted when she was 30 years, and was only followed up until she was 36 years. Suspecting rupture of an ovarian tumor, left adnexectomy was performed.

The combination therapy of lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab (LP) is increasingly recognized as an important second-line regimen for advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). However, the safety and efficacy of conversion surgery with low anterior rectal resection for unresectable EC following LP therapy is unknown. A 37-year-old woman was referred with unresectable EC with pleural fluid, peritoneal dissemination, and ascites.

Mini-open periacetabular cementoplasty for periacetabular bone metastasis: a report of two cases.

Bone metastasis in the periacetabular region usually causes severe pain and functional disability. Some surgical procedures, such as the Harrington surgery and percutaneous cementoplasty, have been reported as treatment options for periacetabular bone metastases with limited efficacy. The former is highly invasive, while the latter may not allow the injection of a sufficient amount of cement.

First-bite syndrome (FBS) is manifested as acute and severe pain in the parotid region occurring at the first bite of a meal. While most cases of FBS arise after surgeries involving the deep lobe of the parotid gland, chemotherapy-induced FBS is extremely rare. Some adverse effects of oxaliplatin resemble FBS, suggesting it may be under-recognized.

Pulmonary sclerosing pneumocytoma (PSP) is a rare form of lung cancer that occasionally presents with lymph node and extrapulmonary metastases, and multiple lesions. The treatment of metastatic PSP remains undefined. This study reports the case of a 48-year-old female patient diagnosed with PSP following surgical intervention for a solitary nodule in the left lower lobe.

The enhanced bioavailability of quercetin (Qr), which has low absorption, may have beneficial effects on human health. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of simultaneous pectin ingestion on the absorption and antioxidant activity of Qr. Qr concentrations in the plasma and urine of rats fed Qr + cellulose or Qr + pectin diets were determined, and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) in oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were measured.

Synthesis and Reactivity of an Olefin Metathesis-Catalyzing Ruthenium Complex with a Selenoether Moiety in the Benzylidene Ligand.

A Hoveyda-Grubbs (HG)-type olefin metathesis complex with a selenoether moiety at the terminus of phenoxy moiety was synthesized. The complex showed direct selenium-atom coordination to the ruthenium center, resulting in higher thermodynamic stability compared with the parent HG catalyst. The selenium atom binding enhanced the tolerance to protic solvent molecules in ring-closing metathesis of -tosyldiallylamide and diethyl diallylmalonate, and also in the cross metathesis between 3-butenylbenzoate and methyl acrylate.

A Water-Soluble Small Molecule Boron Carrier Targeting Biotin Receptors for Neutron Capture Therapy.

A critical challenge in boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is expanding its effectiveness through the development of novel boron agents with different mechanisms of action than the approved drug 4-borono-l-phenylalanine (BPA). In this study, we developed a small molecule boron carrier, biotinyl--dodecaborate conjugate with an iodophenyl moiety (BBC-IP), incorporating biotin as a ligand for biotin receptors overexpressed in various cancer cells, alongside an albumin ligand and boron source. BBC-IP exhibited high water solubility, minimal cytotoxicity, and superior cellular uptake compared to BPA in both human and mouse cancer cells.

Purpose: Trauma-associated coagulopathy has been considered to develop as a result of increased fibrinolysis due to massive bleeding, tissue damage and hypoperfusion. However, it has not been investigated whether hematoma may cause trauma-associated coagulopathy. Using experimental animal model, we analyzed the effects of hematoma formation on coagulation and fibrinolysis parameters.

Therefore, accurate identification of seamount fauna, in particular of sessile suspension-feeding organisms, is of paramount importance for robust conservation efforts.

Electromyographic and kinematic characteristics of baseball players with yips exhibiting different types of dystonic movements: A two-case report.

The yips is a coordination impairment partly attributed to task-specific dystonia in athletes. While previous research focused on comparisons between control and yips groups, this study aimed to highlight interindividual differences in the yips symptoms of two baseball players with distinct dystonic movements through electromyographic and kinematic analysis. Twelve male college baseball players with two exhibiting throwing yips symptoms participated in this study.
