Bonding materials with high thermal and electrical conductivity and reliable resistance to thermal stress are required. The authors have been conducting fundamental research on sintering-type bonding, in which metal micro-fillers are low-temperature sintered in the resin-bonded type electrically conductive adhesives (ECAs), as a new bonding technology, with the aim of easing thermal stress through the resin binder. Pulmonary hypertension associated with lung diseases and/or hypoxia is classified as group 3 in the clinical classification of pulmonary hypertension. The efficacy of existing selective pulmonary vasodilators for group 3 pulmonary hypertension is still unknown, and it is currently associated with a poor prognosis. We previously isolated a cDNA clone for galactosylceramide expression factor 1, which is the rat homologue of hepatocyte-growth-factor-regulated tyrosine kinase substrate (HGS) and induces galactosylceramide expression and morphological changes in COS-7 cells, and reported that overexpression of HGS induced morphological changes in canine kidney epithelial MDCK cells. HGS is a component of the endosomal sorting complexes required for transport machinery that mediates endosomal multivesicle body formation. In this study, the overexpression of HGS induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition and caused transformation in MDCK cells, whereas the overexpression of a coiled-coil domain of HGS inhibited induction of epithelial-mesenchymal transition by HGF stimulation.

Bile salt hydrolase (BSH), a probiotic-related enzyme with cholesterol-assimilating and anti-hypercholesterolemic abilities, has been isolated from intestinal bacteria; however, BSH activity of bacteria in bile-salt-free (non-intestinal) environments is largely unknown. Here, we aimed to identify BSH from non-intestinal and characterize its enzymatic function. We successfully isolated a plasmid-encoded () from , and the recombinant EfpBSH showed BSH activity that preferentially hydrolyzed taurine-conjugated bile salts, unlike the activity of known BSHs.

Aflibercept and brolucizumab, two anti-VEGF agents used as intravitreal injections in ophthalmology, differ significantly in molecular weight (aflibercept-115 kDa and brolucizumab-26 kDa). Using aqueous humor samples collected after drug administration, we measured and performed a comparative analysis of pharmacokinetics and half-lives of these drugs in the human eye. In semelparous species like the ayu (), spawning is followed by rapid physiological decline and death; yet, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unexplored. This study examines transcriptomic changes in ayu skeletal muscle before and after spawning, with a focus on key genes and pathways contributing to muscle atrophy and metabolic dysfunction. Through RNA sequencing and DEG analysis, we identified over 3000 DEGs, and GSEA and KEGG pathway analysis revealed significant downregulation of energy metabolism and protein degradation.

Acquired reactive perforating dermatosis (ARPD) is characterized by its onset after the age of 18 years, umbilicated papules or nodules with a central keratotic plug, and the presence of necrotic collagen tissue within an epithelial crater. ARPD is strongly associated with systemic diseases such as diabetes mellitus (DM) and chronic renal failure, which may contribute to ARPD through factors including microcirculatory disturbances and the deposition of metabolic byproducts, including advanced glycation end-products and calcium. Here, we report a case of ARPD that improved following DM treatment and catheter-based interventions for peripheral artery disease (PAD).

This study investigated the diagnostic efficiencies of two assays for the detection of complex: (1) the reciprocal-flow real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based GeneSoC assay and (2) the real-time PCR based GENECUBE MTB assay with quenching probe.
