Locked Lateral Patellar Dislocation Reduced by Arthroscopic Procedure: A Case Report.

Most cases of patellar dislocation can be reduced spontaneously or manually without sedation. To date, only one case of arthroscopic reduction for a lateral locked patellar dislocation has been reported, with a short follow-up period. Herein, we report the case of a 22-year-old man with a lateral locked patellar dislocation for whom we performed arthroscopic reduction and repair of the medial structure, which stabilized the patella medially.

Background: The factors contributing to osteoarthritis progression after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and reconstruction (ACLR) are not fully understood. Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) offers a noninvasive way to evaluate cartilage biochemical composition using T1ρ mapping, thereby detecting early cartilage degeneration. The specific impact of preoperative quantitative MRI on long-term outcomes after ACLR remains underreported.

Myeloproliferative neoplasm harboring both monosomy 7 and an fusion gene: Proposal for a new disease entity.

Introduction: We present a case of a 9-year-old girl diagnosed with a myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN) harboring both monosomy 7 and an ALK/ROS1 fusion gene.

Case Presentation: The neoplasm was resistant to conventional AML chemotherapy and required hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) to achieve remission.

Discussion: MPNs with monosomy 7 and ALK/ROS1 fusions occur in a wide age range of children and adults, and require HCT for long-term remission.

HLA-matched related peripheral blood stem cell and bone marrow transplantation with RIC regimens yield comparable outcomes for adult AML.

Introduction: Understanding differences in clinical outcomes between PBSCT and BMT is important, and this study compared outcomes of HLA-matched related PBSCT and BMT using reduced-intensity conditioning (RIC) in adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients.

Methods: Data from 402 patients who underwent either PBSCT ( = 294) or BMT ( = 108) between 2000 and 2022 were analyzed using the Japanese nationwide registry database. The primary endpoint was overall survival (OS), and secondary endpoints included disease-free survival (DFS), non-relapse mortality (NRM), and GVHD.

Introduction: The nutritional risk index (NRI), calculated using serum albumin levels and body weight ratio is a known prognostic factor in adult hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). However, its usefulness in pediatric HCT settings remains unclear.

Methods: In a retrospective study, we examined pre-transplant NRI impact on outcomes in 82 pediatric patients undergoing allogeneic HCT.

We report a case of tumor-induced osteomalacia in which the tumor location could be determined by gallium 68 (Ga)-DOTATOC positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT). A 74-year-old woman had recurrent fractures and bone pain.

Carbon dots (CDs) derived from natural products have attracted considerable interest as eco-friendly materials with a wide range of applications, such as bioimaging, sensors, catalysis, and solar energy harvesting. Among these applications, electroluminescence (EL) is particularly desirable for light-emitting devices in display and lighting technologies. Typically, EL devices incorporating CDs feature a layered structure, where CDs function as the central emissive layer, flanked by charge transport layers and electrodes.

Imine Synthesis by Engineered d-Amino Acid Oxidase from Porcine Kidney.

Various symmetric and asymmetric imines were synthesized using the novel amine oxidase, obtained as variants of d-amino acid oxidase (pkDAO) from porcine kidney (Y228L/R283G) and (I230A/R283G). Active primary imines produced as intermediates in the oxidation of methylbenzylamine (MBA) derivatives were trapped by aliphatic, aromatic amines and diamines as nucleophiles forming new imines. ()-Fluoro-MBA was the best substrate for symmetric imine synthesis, providing almost stoichiometric conversion (100 mM) and achieving nearly 100% yield.

Using the mid-infrared instrument onboard the James Webb Space Telescope, here we present a detection of Hα and doubly ionized oxygen ([O iii] 4959,5007 Å) from the bright, ultra-high-redshift galaxy candidate GHZ2/GLASS-z12.

Effects of physiotherapy on degenerative cerebellar ataxia: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Evidence of the effectiveness of physiotherapy, including muscle strength training, coordination training, aerobic exercise, cycling regimen, balance training, gait training, and activity of daily living training, in patients with degenerative cerebellar ataxia (DCA) was insufficient for clinical decision making. Background: Traumatic intracranial aneurysms (TICAs) can be fatal if ruptured. We report a case of a TICA, distant from facial bone fractures, successfully treated with flow diverter (FD) before rupture.

Aim: Timely use of automated external defibrillators by lay rescuers significantly improves the chances of survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases. We aimed to identify the factors influencing whether lay rescuers bring automated external defibrillators to the scene of nontraumatic out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in schoolchildren in Japan.

Methods: Data on out-of-hospital cardiac arrests among schoolchildren from April 2008 to December 2021 were obtained from the database of the Stop and Prevent cardIac aRrest, Injury, and Trauma in Schools study.

Impact of COVID-19 on resuscitation after hospital arrival for patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: An interrupted time series analysis.

Background: In this study, we aimed to determine the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on in-hospital cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in patients with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).

Methods And Results: Using the Japanese Diagnosis Procedure Combination inpatient database, we included patients with OHCA who were transported to hospitals between April 2018 and March 2021. Patients were categorized into groups, before and during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the day of admission (before or after April 1, 2020, respectively).
