A simple method for constructing unsymmetrical 2-nitrobiaryls has been developed between substituted 1,4-dithiine-2-carbaldehyde and nitroolefins under metal-free conditions. To gain the advantage of the HOMO-raising effect of temporary substitutions on in situ generated dienamine intermediate, the present protocol established [4+2] benzannulation of 1,4-dithiane-tethered enals with nitroolefin. Further, easy unmasking of 1,4-dithiine units results in a benzannulation product like that of unsubstituted enals, which are difficult to access.

Medical Genetics and Epigenetics Laboratory, Department of Human Genetics and Molecular Biology, School of Life Sciences, Bharathiar University, 641046 Tamil Nadu, India.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the globally prevalent and virulent types of cancer with a distinct alteration in chromosomes. Often, any alterations in the adenomatosis polyposis coli (APC), a tumor suppressor gene, and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene are related to surmise colorectal cancer significantly. In this study, we have investigated chromosomal and gene variants to discern a new-fangled gene and its expression in the southern populations of India by primarily spotting the screened APC and MTHFR variants in CRC patients.

Squalene epoxidase (SQE) is a crucial regulatory enzyme for the biosynthesis of several important classes of compounds including sterols and triterpenoids. The present paper identified and characterised five SQE genes (GgSQE1 to GgSQE5) from Glycyrrhiza glabra through transcriptome data mining and homology-based cloning, for the first time. The phylogenetic analysis implied their functional divergence.
