Carbaryl and carbofuran are the carbamate pesticides which have been widely used worldwide to control insects in crops and house. If the pesticides entered in to the food products and drinking water, they could cause serious health effects in humans. Therefore, the development of a rapid, simple, sensitive and selective analytical device for on-site detection of carbamates is crucial to evaluate food and environmental samples.

Nicotine is the one of the major addictive substances; the overdose of nicotine (NIC) consumption causes increasing heart rate, blood pressure, stroke, lung cancer, and respiratory illnesses. In this study, we have developed a precise and sensitive electrochemical sensor for nicotine detection in saliva samples. It was built on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with graphene (Gr), iron (III) phthalocyanine-4,4',4″,4'''-tetrasulfonic acid (Fe(III)Pc), and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs/Fe(III)Pc/Gr/GCE).

The most precise measurements to date of the _{Λ}^{3}H lifetime τ and Λ separation energy B_{Λ} are obtained using the data sample of Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02  TeV collected by ALICE at the LHC. The _{Λ}^{3}H is reconstructed via its charged two-body mesonic decay channel (_{Λ}^{3}H→^{3}He+π^{-} and the charge-conjugate process).

Background: Telomeres are repetitive DNA sequences located at the ends of chromosomes, playing a vital role in maintaining chromosomal integrity and stability. Dysregulation of telomeres has been implicated in the development of various cancers, including non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which is the most common type of lung cancer. Genetic variations within telomere maintenance genes may influence the risk of developing NSCLC.

September 2023

Plant Genome Research Laboratory, School of Biotechnology, University of Jammu, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, 180006, India.

Over the past half century, limited use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and conservation of the environment and natural resources have become the interdependent goals of sustainable agriculture. These practices support agriculture sustainability with less environmental and climatic impacts. Therefore, there is an upsurge in the need to introduce compatible booster methods for maximizing net production.

Sex steroids are known to modulate immune responses and as a result many of the immune parameters in seasonally breeding organisms show reproductive-phase dependent variation. Androgens, the male sex steroids, are largely reported to be immunosuppressive. Together with other pattern recognition receptors, the nucleotide-binding and oligomerization domain-like receptors (NLRs) serve as intracellular sentinels and are essential to defense mechanisms.

Depleting fossil fuels and net carbon emissions associated with their burning have driven the need to find alternative energy sources. Biofuels are near-perfect candidates for alternative energy sources as they are renewable and account for no net CO emissions. However, biofuel production must overcome various challenges to compete with conventional fuels.

Accuracy of Different Electronic Basis Set Families for Anharmonic Molecular Vibrations: A Comprehensive Benchmark Study.

J Phys Chem A

August 2023

Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, Rahya-Suchani (Bagla), Jammu, J&K 181143 India.

In this work, the accuracy and convergence of different electronic basis set families for the computation of anharmonic molecular vibrational spectroscopic calculations are benchmarked. A series of 39 different basis sets from different families following their hierarchy are assessed on VSCF and VSCF-PT2 algorithms with commonly used MP2 and DFT based B3LYP-D potentials for a set of molecular systems. Such an effort has been validated in a previous work ( 2020, 124, 9203-9221) with split-valence basis sets for fundamentals and intensities.

Department of Botany, University of Jammu, Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, 180006, India.

Although mucormycosis may have reached an epidemic situation during the COVID-19 pandemic, the term was much more familiar even before the COVID-19 period. The year 2020 showed an outbreak of novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) which affected millions of people all over the world. One of the noticeable complications observed to be associated with this disease is mucormycosis.

Saffron is regarded as the most expensive spice, mainly because of its laborious harvest. Only a few countries dominate the global saffron market, with Iran producing by far the most saffron, and the saffron production of all other countries thus being much smaller. However, the respective national production (not only of saffron) is usually preferred by local consumers with respect to foreign products and often has a higher price.

Article Synopsis
  • * A notable negative correlation between the production of antiprotons and antideuterons was found across various collision centralities.
  • * Comparisons with theoretical models show that while a coalescence calculation explains certain statistical features, it struggles with the specifics of antiproton-antideuteron correlations, whereas thermal-statistical models can align with observations but imply different correlation volumes.

The transverse-momentum (p_{T}) spectra and coalescence parameters B_{2} of (anti)deuterons are measured in p-p collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV for the first time in and out of jets. In this measurement, the direction of the leading particle with the highest p_{T} in the event (p_{T}^{lead}>5  GeV/c) is used as an approximation for the jet axis. The event is consequently divided into three azimuthal regions, and the jet signal is obtained as the difference between the toward region, that contains jet fragmentation products in addition to the underlying event (UE), and the transverse region, which is dominated by the UE.

Integration of whole slide imaging (WSI) and deep learning technology has led to significant improvements in the screening and diagnosis of cervical cancer. WSI enables the examination of all cells on a slide simultaneously and deep learning algorithms can accurately label them as cancerous or non-cancerous. Although many studies have investigated the application of deep learning for diagnosing various diseases, there is a lack of research focusing on the evolution, limitations, and gaps of intelligent algorithms in conjunction with WSI for cervical cancer.

An efficient, secondary amine-catalyzed cascade annulation of 2-/-propargylarylaldehydes with 2,6-dialkylphenols was established to access biologically relevant functionalized 2-chromenes and 1,2-dihydroquinolines tethered with a synthetically useful -quinone methide scaffold in high yields under microwave irradiation and conventional heating conditions. The microwave-assisted strategy was convenient, clean, rapid, and high yielding in which the reactions were completed in just 15 min, and the yields obtained were up to 95%. This highly atom-economical domino process constructed two new C-C double bonds and a six-membered O/N-heterocyclic ring in a single synthetic operation.

The need for wearable bioelectronics continues to grow, and this technology might significantly alter the medical field. In order to diagnose and treat a patient, conventional medicine takes a "reactive" approach and waits for symptoms to appear first. Therefore, it is preferable to progress toward continuous non-invasive wearable biomonitoring, a preventative strategy that may assist individuals in diagnosing or treating illnesses at the earliest stages, sometimes before any outward symptoms have appeared.

Department of Zoology, University of Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, 180006, India.

The Covid-19 pandemic has impacted and infiltrated every aspect of our lives. Successive lockdowns, social distancing measures, and reduction in economic activity have developed a new way of living and, in many cases, tend to lead to depression. The initial strict lockdown for about 3 months and eventually for a few more months has imposed greater challenges on children and adolescents in terms of psychological problems and psychiatric disorders.

The development of sustainable biorefineries and bioeconomy has been the mandate of most of the governments with major focus on restricting the climate change concerns and finding new strategies to maintain the global food supply chain. Xylooligosaccharides (XOS) are short-chain oligomers which due to their excellent prebiotic potential in the nutraceutical sector has attracted intense research focus in the recent years. The agro-industrial crop and food waste can be utilized for the production of XOS which are derived from hemicellulose fraction (xylan) of the lignocellulosic materials.
