A series of halogen-substituted aurone derivatives were synthesized and evaluated for an anti-proliferative study against NCI 60 cancer cell line panel and showed that most of the compounds predominantly exhibited promising activity against MCF-7. Six 1,4-benzothiazin-3-ones (-) and four benzothiazinyl acetate derivatives (-) were synthesized and characterized by various spectroscopic methods, namely, H NMR, C NMR, IR, MS, and elemental analysis. The cytotoxic effects of the compounds were assessed against MCF-7, a human breast cancer cell line, along with their anti-inflammatory activity. Dengue virus can infect human megakaryocytes leading to decreased platelet biogenesis. In this article, we report a study of Dengue replication in human K562 cells undergoing PMA-induced differentiation into megakaryocytes. PMA-induced differentiation in these cells recapitulates steps of megakaryopoiesis including gene activation, expression of CD41/61 and CD61 platelet surface markers and accumulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Phthalate esters such as di-butyl phthalate (DBP) and di-ethyl hexyl phthalate (DEHP) used in personal care and consumer products and medical devices have potential to affect human health. We studied the effect of DBP and DEHP on critical enzymes of glucocorticoid biosynthesis pathway in the adrenal gland and pro-inflammatory cytokines in the serum in male Wistar rats. DEHP and DBP treatment altered the mRNA expression of enzymes of glucocorticoid biosynthesis pathway accompanied by a reduction in glucocorticoid production and elevation in the level of glucocorticoid regulated pro-inflammatory cytokines indicating a cascading effect of phthalates.

In recent years, microRNAs (miRNAs) and tRNA-derived RNA fragments (tRFs) have been reported extensively following different approaches of identification and analysis. Comprehensively analyzing the present approaches to overcome the existing variations, we developed a benchmarking methodology each for the identification of miRNAs and tRFs, termed as miRNA Prediction Methodology (miRPreM) and tRNA-induced small non-coding RNA Prediction Methodology (tiRPreM), respectively. We emphasized the use of respective genome of organism under study for mapping reads, sample data with at least two biological replicates, normalized read count support and novel miRNA prediction by two standard tools with multiple runs.
