Little is known about risk factors for central nervous system (CNS) relapse in mature T-cell and natural killer cell neoplasms (MTNKNs). We aimed to describe the clinical epidemiology of CNS relapse in patients with MTNKN and developed the CNS relapse In T-cell lymphoma Index (CITI) to predict patients at the highest risk of CNS relapse. We reviewed data from 135 patients with MTNKN and CNS relapse from 19 North American institutions.

The incidence of gastric cancer (GC) is expected to increase to 1.77 million cases by 2040. To improve treatment outcomes, GC patients are increasingly treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) prior to curative-intent resection.

Background: Health care providers play a crucial role in increasing overall awareness, screening, and treatment of cancer, leading to reduced cancer mortality. We sought to characterize the impact of provider density on colorectal cancer population-level mortality.
Methods: County-level provider data, obtained from the Area Health Resource File between 2016 and 2018, were used to calculate provider density per county.

Unlabelled: Policy Points Opioid treatment agreements (OTAs) are controversial because of the lack of evidence that their use reduces opioid-related harms and the potential risks they pose of stigmatizing patients and undermining the clinician-patient relationship. Even so, their use is now required in most jurisdictions, and their use is influencing the outcomes of civil and criminal lawsuits. More research is needed to evaluate how OTAs are implemented given existing requirements.

SCAP plays a central role in controlling lipid homeostasis by activating SREBP-1, a master transcription factor in controlling fatty acid (FA) synthesis. However, how SCAP expression is regulated in human cancer cells remains unknown. Here, we revealed that STAT3 binds to the promoter of SCAP to activate its expression across multiple cancer cell types.

Introduction: The growing burden of an aging population has raised concerns about demands on healthcare systems and resources, particularly in the context of surgical and cancer care. Delirium can affect treatment outcomes and patient recovery. We sought to determine the prevalence of postoperative delirium among patients undergoing digestive tract surgery for malignant indications and to analyze the role of delirium on surgical outcomes.

Purpose: Older adults with hematologic malignancies (HM) have unique challenges due to age and fitness. The primary aim of this pilot study was to benchmark the ability of multiple biomarkers of aging (p16, epigenetic clocks, T cell gene expression profiles, and T cell receptor excision circles (TREC) to identify frailty as measured by a clinical impairment index (I) in patients with HM.
Methods: 70 patients newly diagnosed with HM had peripheral blood T lymphocytes (PBTL) analyzed for p16 expression using the OSU_Senescence Nanostring CodeSet.

Advanced-stage cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCLs) are notorious for their highly aggressive behavior, resistance to conventional treatments, and poor prognosis, particularly when large-cell transformation occurs. PEG10 has been recently proposed as a potent driver for large-cell transformation in CTCL. However, the targeting of PEG10 continues to present a formidable clinical challenge that has yet to be addressed.

Genetic biomarkers have played a pivotal role in the classification, prognostication, and guidance of clinical cancer therapies. Large-scale and multi-dimensional analyses of entire cancer genomes, as exemplified by projects like The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), have yielded an extensive repository of data that holds the potential to unveil the underlying biology of these malignancies. Mutations stand out as the principal catalysts of cellular transformation.

Neovascularization contributes to various posterior eye segment diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. RNA nanoparticles were demonstrated previously to enter the corneal and retinal cells after subconjunctival injection for ocular delivery. In the present study, antiangiogenic aptamers (anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and anti-angiopoietin-2 (Ang2) aptamers) were conjugated to RNA nanoparticles.

Introduction: Sarcoid-like reactions (SLRs) to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are a rare but increasingly recognized immune-related adverse event of which the clinical significance is unclear.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study at a tertiary academic center of consecutive patients who received at least one dose of ICI from 2013 to 2020. Patient characteristics, risk factors, and outcomes were compared between patients with and without SLR following ICI treatment.

Background: Social conditions and dietary behaviors have been implicated in the rising burden of gastrointestinal cancers (GIC). The "food environment" reflects influences on a community level relative to food availability, nutritional assistance, and social determinants of health. Using the US Department of Agriculture-Food Environment Atlas (FEA), we sought to characterize the association of food environment on GIC presenting stage and long-term survival.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is an incurable cancer and is the leading indication for autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). To be eligible for HSCT, a patient must have a caregiver, as caregivers play a central role in HSCT preparation and recovery. MM patients remain on treatment indefinitely, and thus patients and their caregivers face long-term challenges including the intensity of HSCT and perpetual therapy after transplant.

Background And Objectives: Given persistent racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes, this study explores racial differences in disease-specific mortality and surgical management among patients with microinvasive ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS-MI).
Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results Program was queried for patients aged 18+ years with DCIS-MI between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2018. The study cohort was divided into non-Hispanic Black (NHB) and non-Hispanic White (NHW) patients.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy has significantly impacted treatment algorithms and clinical outcomes for a variety of patients with hematologic malignancies over the past decade. The field of cellular immunotherapy is currently experiencing a rapid expansion of the number of patients eligible for CAR-T therapies as approvals are being seen in earlier lines of therapy. With the expanded patients eligible for these therapies, more treatment centers will be necessary to keep up with demand.

Data on recent bone marrow harvest (BMH) collections from the NMDP has shown that bone marrow (BM) quality has decreased based on total nucleated cell count in the product. To ensure that quality BM products are available to all recipients, the NMDP Marrow Alliance was formed in April 2021 to increase the capability of BM collection centers to safely deliver high-quality products consistently and to identify and disseminate guidelines for performing BMH. This white paper describes the best practices for BMH as defined by the NMDP Marrow Alliance.

Purpose: The role of stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) in the management of grade 2 and 3 meningiomas is not well elucidated. Unfortunately, local recurrence rates are high, and guidelines for management of recurrent disease are lacking. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted STORM (Salvage Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Recurrent WHO Grade 2 and 3 Meningiomas), a multicenter retrospective cohort study of patients treated with primary SRS for recurrent grade 2 and 3 meningiomas.

The diversity and dynamics of proteins play essential roles in maintaining the basic constructions and functions of cells. The abundance of functional proteins is regulated by the transcription and translation processes, while the alternative splicing enables the same gene to generate distinct protein isoforms of different lengths. Beyond the transcriptional and translational regulations, post-translational modifications (PTMs) are able to further expand the diversity and functional scope of proteins.
