Background: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is an evidence-based approach to treatment- resistant Major Depressive Disorder (TRD). Sleep dysfunction is associated with poor outcomes in TRD, however, the impacts of sleep dysfunction on TMS treatment has yet to be defined. This study examined the association between sleep dysfunction and improvement in depression symptoms with TMS treatment for TRD.

Atorvastatin-Associated Eosinophilic Spongiosis: A Case Report and a Relevant Literature Review of Dermatological Manifestations.

Atorvastatin, a widely prescribed 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor), is associated with various adverse effects, including many dermatologic manifestations. We present the case of a 73-year-old man who developed eosinophilic spongiosis shortly after initiating atorvastatin therapy, an adverse effect which to our knowledge has not yet been reported in association with atorvastatin. Our investigation explores the clinical and histopathologic characteristics of eosinophilic spongiosis induced by atorvastatin, delving into potential mechanisms behind statin-induced eosinophilia.

COVID-19 and mental health treatment in primary care: Impact of a global pandemic on a psychopharmacological collaborative care management program.

Objective: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on individuals with mental health (MH) disorders and on the delivery of MH services. Few studies have examined treatment models not requiring substantial changes to the delivery of services during pandemic restrictions, such as collaborative care management (CoCM) programs. Therefore, a longitudinal retrospective cohort analysis was conducted to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on a psychopharmacological CoCM program.

The widespread use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for the treatment of various types of cancer has led to increasing reports of associated adverse effects. The use of the ipilimumab/nivolumab/sacituzumab combination is currently under study in patients with metastatic urothelial carcinoma, given their potential synergism for immunogenic cell death. Moral injury among women military veterans and demand for cigarettes: A behavioral economic investigation using a hypothetical purchase task.

Objectives: Unlike the United States general population, veteran women - as opposed to veteran men - have greater smoking prevalence; yet, little is known regarding factors that influence smoking in veteran women. The purpose of this study was to begin examining the relationship between a psychological concept known as moral injury and demand for cigarettes among veteran women.

Methods: Veteran women who smoke (n = 44) were recruited for this cross-sectional study from Amazon MTurk, Reddit, and a veteran-serving non-profit organization in June-July 2023.

Unlabelled: Chronic multisymptom illnesses (CMI) such as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Long-COVID, and Gulf War Illness (GWI) are associated with an elevated risk of post-exertional malaise (PEM), an acute exacerbation of symptoms and other related outcomes following exercise. These individuals may benefit from personalized exercise prescriptions which prioritize risk minimization, necessitating a better understanding of dose-response effects of exercise intensity on PEM.

Development of the Telephone-based Daily Instrumental Activities of Living (T-DIAL) to assess financial management remotely in older adults.

The current study evaluated the reliability and validity of a novel, performance-based banking task in 60 younger (18-34 years) and 60 older (50-85 years) adults. All participants completed the Telephone-based Daily Instrumental Activities of Living (T-DIAL) using interactive voice response technology to complete a series of mock actions with a financial institution via telephone. A 64-year-old man with a history of LAGB placement 13 years prior presented with 2 months of epigastric pain. He endorsed chronic heavy nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug use.

The kidney plays a pivotal role in regulating calcium levels within the body. Approximately 98% of the filtered calcium is reabsorbed in the nephron, and this process is tightly controlled to maintain calcium homeostasis, which is required to facilitate optimal bone mineralization, preserve serum calcium levels within a narrow range, and support intracellular signalling mechanisms. The maintenance of these functions is attributed to a delicate balance achieved by various calcium channels, transporters, and calcium-binding proteins in renal cells.

Psychotropic Management in Cotard Syndrome: Case Reports Supporting Dual Medication Management.

Cotard syndrome is a rare presentation where patients present with nihilistic thoughts of dying or already being dead. These delusions manifest from either a medical or psychiatric etiology and can be difficult to treat. Recently Couto and Gonçalves purposed that treatment should include an atypical antipsychotic alone or in combination with either a mood stabilizer or antidepressant.

Headache Specialists' Perceptions of the Role of Health Psychologists in Headache Management: A Qualitative Study.

Background Since headache specialists cannot treat all the patients with headache disorders, multidisciplinary teams that include health psychologists are becoming more prevalent. Health psychologists mainly use a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), along with biofeedback on occasion, to effectively address patients' pain and headache disorders. Measuring Patient-Reported Use and Outcomes From Complementary and Integrative Health Therapies: Development of the Complementary and Integrative Health Therapy Patient Experience Survey.

Background: Assessing the use and effectiveness of complementary and integrative health (CIH) therapies via survey can be complicated given CIH therapies are used in various locations and formats, the dosing required to have an effect is unclear, the potential health and well-being outcomes are many, and describing CIH therapies can be challenging. Few surveys assessing CIH therapy use and effectiveness exist, and none sufficiently reflect these complexities.

Objective: In a large-scale Veterans Health Administration (VA) quality improvement effort, we developed the "Complementary and Integrative Health Therapy Patient Experience Survey", a longitudinal, electronic patient self-administered survey to comprehensively assess CIH therapy use and outcomes.
