Parallel with the increasing incidence of cerebrovascular diseases, and the limitations of possible surgical methods, the importance of drug therapy has significantly increased. Due to our knowledge of haemorheology the effectiveness of therapies may be measured by means of useful circulatory markers. In course of our research activities of one and a half decades the changes in blood viscosity were measured during vinpocetine therapy, and were compared to the changes of haematocrit and mean corpuscular volume (MCV) values.

Observations with slow-release neuroleptics used in the treatment of inpatients of a psychiatric ward of a general hospital have been discussed. The comparative examinations were performed within a period of two and a half years in a total of 48 patients who were ranged into two groups at random. One group received Piportil, the other Haloperidol decanoate therapy.

Beta-blocking agent facilitating the spontaneous passage of ureteral stones.

Based on data from neurophysiological studies, the author checked the action of a beta-blocking agent facilitating spontaneous stone passage from the ureter. Experience has shown that, compared with the control group, the beta-receptor-blocking agents proved to be useful in the facilitation of a spontaneous discharge of stones located in the lower part of the ureter.

Nowadays the existence of bearing both T and B marker lymphocytes has generally been accepted, but their role and nature is still unknown. The effect of tetracycline on lymphocytes was examined in 26 patients with different, mainly respiratory infections. Examinations were carried out on lymphocyte populations with T and B cell count using E rosette and surface immunoglobulin as a marker.
