Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is no longer considered a disease exclusive to the respiratory system. It is a multipronged disease with both lung and systemic involvement. Although the forced expiratory volume (FEV) in one second is one of the most commonly used markers to assess disease severity, in recent years, biomarkers such as interleukin-1 beta, serum C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 10, fibrinogen, soluble receptor for advanced glycation, surfactant protein D, and club cell secretory protein have been proven to be effective markers to assess disease severity.

We aimed to assess the clinical pharmacist-initiated telephone-based patient education and self-management support for patients with cardiovascular disease during the nationwide lockdown during COVID-19 pandemic. A prospective single-center telephone-based cross-sectional study was conducted among patients at the Cardiology Department and its speciality clinic at a 1,800-bed tertiary care hospital in Southern India. Purpose: CD163 is a monocyte/macrophage-associated antigen which has recently been identified as a hemoglobin scavenger receptor and has also anti-inflammatory properties and an immunoregulatory role. This surface receptor undergoes ectodomain shedding upon an inflammatory stimulus, leading to increased fraction of soluble CD163 (sCD163). Hence, we hypothesized that the mechanical ventilation (MV) which is known to elicit inflammatory response may cause increased serum levels of sCD163 which can predict the outcome of patients from MV.

This case report aims at investigating whether two consecutive surgical settings would be beneficial in achieving postoperative success for the patient with blast eye injury. A 45-year-old male patient admitted on 17(th) October 2011 with history of blast eye injury. Right eye examination revealed central corneal laceration with incarceration of lens matter, multiple foreign bodies also seen embedded in the eyelid margins and in the left cornea.

However, due to lack of effective programs for screening and disease recurrence after surgical resection, there is a need for better chemopreventive agents.

Aims And Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the anti-inflammatory activity of the aqueous root bark extract of Aegle marmelos (Bilwa) in experimental acute and chronic inflammatory animal models.

Materials And Methods: Aqueous extract of root bark of Bilwa was prepared and tested for anti-inflammatory activity in albino rats weighing 150-280 grams. The animals were randomly divided into 3 groups of 6 each; one group served as control and other two groups received indomethacin and Bilwa orally 1 hour prior to experimentation.
