Rationale And Objectives: Accurate assessment of hip morphology is crucial for the diagnosis and management of hip pathologies. Traditional manual measurements are prone to mistakes and inter- and intra-reader variability. Artificial intelligence (AI) could mitigate such issues by providing accurate and reproducible measurements.

Purpose: Although studies have evaluated benralizumab, a monoclonal IL-5 receptor α antibody in severe eosinophilic asthma (SEA), in real-world settings, additional evidence is needed to further characterize its effectiveness in specific patient populations. Our study aimed to evaluate asthma control over 56 weeks in patients treated with benralizumab in Swiss real-world settings.
Patients And Methods: Conducted across 13 centres, this prospective, observational, non-interventional study involved 73 adults with physician confirmed SEA.

Background And Objectives: The role of the complement system in myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) is not completely understood, and studies exploring its potential utility for diagnosis and prognosis are lacking. We aimed to investigate the value of complement factors (CFs) as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in patients with MOGAD.
Methods: Multicentric retrospective cohort study including patients with MOGAD, multiple sclerosis (MS) and aquaporin-4 seropositive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (AQP4-NMOSD) with available paired serum and CSF samples.

Stretching fields give rise to the formation of reinforcing crystals in biaxially oriented polypropylene capacitor films, endowing them with excellent electrical properties. In this paper, the correlation between stretching temperature, ratio, and annealing temperature and film structure as well as electric breakdown strength (E) during biaxial stretching is investigated. Synchronous biaxial stretching ensures that the orientation of the prepared films is isotropic.

Lack of O and high concentrations of iron (Fe) are common in flooded soils where Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is cultivated. We tested the hypothesis that growing in stagnant or high Fe conditions might induce the formation of apoplastic barriers in roots with different properties and chemical compositions.

Graft selection for anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) remains controversial. In addition, an increasing number of ACLRs are being performed in an aging population, creating a potential gap in evidence. The goal is to restore functional stability to the knee; minimize the likelihood of graft failure; and provide patient satisfaction, achieved primarily by a patient's ability to return to unrestricted physical activity.

Background: Precise lower limb measurements are crucial for assessing musculoskeletal health; fully automated solutions have the potential to enhance standardization and reproducibility of these measurements. This study compared the measurements performed by BoneMetrics (Gleamer, Paris, France), a commercial artificial intelligence (AI)-based software, to expert manual measurements on anteroposterior full-leg standing radiographs.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on a dataset comprising consecutive anteroposterior full-leg standing radiographs obtained from four imaging institutions.

Background And Objectives: Biologics that target pathogenic antibodies (Abs) and their effector functions such as the complement inhibitor ravulizumab and the neonatal Fc receptor agonist efgartigimod have recently been approved for the treatment of acetylcholine receptor (AChR)-Ab-positive myasthenia gravis (MG), but comparative studies are lacking.
Methods: In a prospective, exploratory real-world study, we assessed clinical efficacy, safety, and biological effects of ravulizumab and efgartigimod treatment initiation. Myasthenia Gravis-Activities of Daily Living and Quantitative Myasthenia Gravis scores were used as clinical endpoints.

Diagnosing acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is challenging due to its wide range of symptoms and numerous differential diagnoses. Medical professionals must balance performing all essential examinations and avoiding unnecessary testing. This study aimed to retrospectively audit the diagnosis and treatment of acute PE at a Swiss public teaching hospital to determine the adherence to current guidelines and to identify the factors associated with the delayed initiation of anticoagulation in PE patients.

Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive and lethal type of brain tumor in human adults. The standard of care offers minimal clinical benefit, and most GBM patients experience tumor recurrence after treatment. In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the development of novel immunotherapies or other therapeutic strategies that can overcome immunotherapy resistance in many advanced cancers.

Introduction: Serial N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) measurements have proven to be useful for therapy monitoring in patients hospitalized for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The POC-HF pilot study investigated whether serial NT-proBNP measurements influenced treatment decisions in these patients.
Methods: Patients hospitalized for ADHF were randomly assigned to an intervention group (serial NT-proBNP measurements made available to treating physicians) or a control group (care as usual).

Therapeutic vaccination can harness the body's cellular immune system to target and destroy cancerous cells. Several treatment options are available to eliminate pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV), but may not result in a long-term cure. Therapeutic vaccination may offer an effective, durable, and minimally intrusive alternative.

The progression of many solid tumors is accompanied by temporal and spatial changes in the stiffness of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Cancer cells adapt to soft and stiff ECM through mechanisms that are not fully understood. It is well known that there is significant genetic heterogeneity from cell to cell in tumors, but how ECM stiffness as a parameter might interact with that genetic variation is not known.

Maritime traffic is essential for global trade but faces significant challenges, including navigation safety, environmental protection, and the prevention of illicit activities. This work presents a framework for detecting illegal activities carried out by vessels, combining navigation behavior detection models with rules based on expert knowledge. Using synthetic and real datasets based on the Automatic Identification System (AIS), we structured our framework into five levels based on the Joint Directors of Laboratories (JDL) model, efficiently integrating data from multiple sources.

Genetic medicines show promise for treating various diseases, yet clinical success has been limited by tolerability, scalability, and immunogenicity issues of current delivery platforms. To overcome these, we developed a proteolipid vehicle (PLV) by combining features from viral and non-viral approaches. PLVs incorporate fusion-associated small transmembrane (FAST) proteins isolated from fusogenic orthoreoviruses into a well-tolerated lipid formulation, using scalable microfluidic mixing.

Primary central nervous system (CNS) tumors affect tens of thousands of patients each year, and there is a significant need for new treatments. Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) is a cytokine implicated in multiple tumorigenic processes such as cell proliferation, vascularization, and immune evasion and is therefore a promising therapeutic target in primary CNS tumors. There are several MIF-directed treatments available, including small-molecule inhibitors, peptide drugs, and monoclonal antibodies.

Background And Objectives: Disease-modifying treatments (DMTs) such as gene therapy are currently under investigation as a potential treatment for Huntington disease (HD). Our objective was to estimate the long-term natural history of HD progression and explore the potential efficacy impacts and value of a hypothetical DMT using a decision-analytic modeling framework.
Methods: We developed a health state transition model that separately analyzed 40-year-old individuals with prefunctional decline (PFD, HD Integrated Staging System [HD-ISS] stage <3, total functional score [TFC] 13), active functional decline Shoulson and Fahn category 1 (SF1, HD-ISS stage 3, TFC 13-11), and SF2 (HD-ISS stage 3, TFC 10-7).
