Mapping the Japanese orthopedic association national registry (JOANR) to the international classification of health interventions (ICHI).

Background: The Japanese Orthopedic Association launched the Japanese Orthopedic Association National Registry (JOANR), Japan's first large-scale nationwide musculoskeletal disease registry, in 2020. The World Health Organization released the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI) Beta-3 version in the same year. This concurrence served as an impetus to examine the relationship between domestic and international classification for orthopedic interventions.

Clinical Efficacy of Neurotropin for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis with Low Back Pain.

Purpose: We compared the clinical effects of Neurotropin, limaprost alfadex, and a combination of both drugs for lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS) with low back pain (LBP).

Methods: We conducted a multicenter, randomized, active-controlled, open-label trial from March 2021 to May 2022. Participants were patients diagnosed with LSS by MRI and were randomly assigned to three groups: Neurotropin/limaprost combination (NL group), Neurotropin (N group), and limaprost group (L group).

Early mobilization reduces the medical care cost and the risk of disuse syndrome in patients with acute osteoporotic vertebral fractures.

Gender-specific analysis for the association between trunk muscle mass and spinal pathologies.

We investigated the relationship between trunk muscle mass and spinal pathologies by gender. This multicenter cross-sectional study included patients aged ≥ 30 years who visited a spinal outpatient clinic. Trunk and appendicular muscle mass were measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis.

Analyses of Intermediate-Stage Hepatocellular Carcinoma Patients Receiving Transarterial Chemoembolization prior to Designing Clinical Trials.

Background: Intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a high frequency of recurrence and progression to advanced stage after transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), particularly in patients with high tumor burden. Promising new results from immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) and ICI-based therapies are expected to replace TACE, especially in HCC patients with high tumor burden.

Aims: The present study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of TACE with a view to design clinical trials comparing TACE and ICIs.

[A Case of Subcutaneous Scrotal Metastasis from Primary Gastric Cancer].

Metastases to the subcutaneous scrotum are extremely rare. Here, we report a 78-year-old man who presented with pain to the scrotum and inguinal area. Two years ago, he underwent total gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

Myeloid/Lymphoid Neoplasm with PDGFRB Rearrangement with t (5;10) (q33;q22) Harboring a Novel Breakpoint of the CCDC6-PDGFRB Fusion Gene.

Myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms with PDGFRB rearrangement are a distinct type of myeloid neoplasms that occur in association with rearrangement of PDGFRB at 5q32. The hematological features most often show prominent eosinophilia. We herein report a patient with myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms with PDGFRB rearrangement with t (5;10) (q33;q22) who showed atypical chronic myeloid leukemia-like clinical features without eosinophilia and achieved an optimal response to imatinib.

Study Design: A multicenter cross-sectional study.

Objectives: To clarify the relationship of trunk muscle mass with low back pain, spinal sagittal balance, and quality of life. Few reports have investigated the relationship of trunk muscle mass with lumbar spine function and spinal balance, and the clinical significance of trunk muscle mass remains unclear.

Correlation Between Walking Ability and Monthly Care Costs in Elderly Patients After Surgical Treatments for Hip Fractures.

Objective: To validate the relationship between residual walking ability and monthly care cost as well as long-term care insurance (LTCI) certification level in elderly patients after surgical treatment for hip fractures in Japan.

Methods: Elderly patients aged >75 years who underwent surgical treatment for hip fractures in our hospital were included. The preand post-surgical (6-month) walking ability and LTCI certification and the presence or absence of dementia was determined from medical records and questionnaires.

CD20 positivity and white blood cell count predict treatment outcomes in Philadelphia chromosome-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients ineligible for pediatric-inspired chemotherapy.

Background: The efficacy of conventional chemotherapy and allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) has been controversial as post-remission therapies for adult Philadelphia chromosome-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia patients.

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 96 adolescent and adult cases of Philadelphia chromosome-negative acute lymphoblastic leukemia to evaluate whether allo-HSCT should be performed after first complete remission (1CR).

Results: In total, 34 patients received chemotherapy followed by allo-HSCT (HSCT group) and 62 received chemotherapy alone (chemotherapy group).

[A Case Report of Clinical Complete Response with Chemotherapy for Descending Colon Cancer Complicated with Severe Pulmonary Dysfunction].

A 76-year-old male patient was diagnosed with progressive descending colon cancer. Since the patient had severe respiratoryfunction impairment after right pneumonectomy, the anesthesiologydepartment of our hospital determined that general anesthesia induction was too difficult. He was thus started on capecitabine plus oxaliplatin(XELOX)therapy.
