Substance abuse and addictive disorders are very common in the community. Patients with addictive disorders frequently experience sexual dysfunctions and chronic use of substances tends to adversely affect all stages of sexual response, in both male and female abusers. An important aspect in the management of sexual dysfunction is psychosocial intervention.

Improved anti-tumor activity of oxaliplatin by encapsulating in anti-DR5 targeted gold nanoparticles.

Oxaliplatin is one of the chemotherapeutic agents in the first line therapy for treatment of colorectal cancer. But, limitations of chemotherapy affects the clinical applicability of oxaliplatin depriving its activity at targeted site attributed to the lack of site specificity. This limitation paves the way for undesirable toxic effects to healthy cells resulting in sub-standard drug amount at the tumors obliging for increased dose.

Novel anionic polymer as a carrier for CNS delivery of anti-Alzheimer drug.

Natural and plant-based polymers could be used for control release of drugs and also helps in targeting drug to the site of action. The main objective of present work was to check the feasibility of plant-based, namely, mango gum polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) as a carrier for central nervous system (CNS) delivery using model drug donepezil (DZP). The NPs were prepared by modified ionic gelation method and emulsion cross-linking method.

Oxaliplatin immunohybrid nanoparticles in vitro synergistic suppression evaluation in treatment of colorectal cancer.

In the present study, we have investigated the enhanced synergistic and apoptotic activity of immunohybrid nanoparticles encapsulating oxaliplatin and covalently conjugated with TRAIL (Apo-2L/CD-253). Time-dependent cytotoxicity activity of nanoparticles was determined by MTT assay in HT-29 cells. Nuclear morphological changes and assessment of apoptotic ratio was analyzed by DAPI (4'6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) staining and annexin-propidium iodide (PI) assay.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) is one among the anti-cancer agents in FOLFORINOX treatment along with oxaliplatin and irinotecan for the treatment of colorectal cancer. Despite its potential activity on the tumor cells, it lacks site specificity partly attributed by its biodistribution to healthy cells resulting in toxic effects to healthy cells. Therefore, we have formulated 5-fluorouracil enteric-coated nanoparticles (5-FUEC) to localize the drug in the colon area that enables its prolonged presence in target area in a sustained manner.

Here, we formulated oxaliplatin immunohybrid nanoparticles (OIHNPs) to deliver oxaliplatin and anti-TRAIL for colorectal cancer treatment in xenograft tumor models.

Formulation and characterization of 5-Fluorouracil enteric coated nanoparticles for sustained and localized release in treating colorectal cancer.

5-Fluorouracil is used in the treatment of colorectal cancer along with oxaliplatin as first line treatment, but it is having lack of site specificity and poor therapeutic effect. Also toxic effects to healthy cells and unavailability of major proportion of drug at the colon region remain as limitations. Toxic effects prevention and drug localization at colon area was achieved by preparing enteric-coated chitosan polymeric nanoparticles as it can be delivered directly to large bowel.

Patient-assisted teledermatology practice: what is it? When, where, and how it is applied?

Recent teledermatology practice has been focused on different models made possible by robust advances in information technology leading to consistent interaction between the patient and health care professionals. Patient-assisted teledermatology practice also called patient-enabled teledermatology or home based teledermatology is one such novel model. There is a lack of scientific literature and substantive reviews on patient-assisted teledermatology practice.

Occupational inhalation of aniline fumes induced methemoglobinemea and hemolytic anemia precipitated days later.

Methylene blue is utilized as the main treatment of methemoglobinemia. Here we report two cases, in which patient suffered from aniline-induced methemoglobinemia with initial good response but later developed haemolytic anemia due to methylene blue therapy. He was treated with hydration, high flow oxygen and steroid therapy.

An In-vitro Evaluation of the pH Change Through Root Dentin Using Different Calcium Hydroxide Preparations as an Intracanal Medicament.

Measurement of adult antimicrobial drug use in tertiary care hospital using defined daily dose and days of therapy.

Widespread overuse and inappropriate use of antimicrobial drugs continues to fuel an increase in antimicrobial resistance and leads to consequent treatment complications and increased healthcare costs. In the present study we aimed to describe antimicrobial drug consumption and predictors and to identify potential targets for antimicrobial stewardship. This was a prospective observational study conducted at adult medicine wards of tertiary care teaching hospital over the period of five months.

Ossifying fibroma is a benign bone neoplasm often considered to be a type of fibro-osseous lesion. Its origin is believed to be from periodontal membrane, and it shows more predilection toward females. Mandible is more commonly affected than maxilla.

Porcelain Gallbladder Mimicking Carcinoma Gallbladder-a Case Report and Review of Literature.

Porcelain gallbladder, inspite of its rare occurence, assumes importance because of its risk of malignant transformation. Here, we report a case which mimicked carcinoma during surgery and on histopathological examination was reported as Porcelain gallbladder. This report focuses on the rarity of occurence of Porcelain gallbladder, its differentiating histopathological features with respect to carcinoma, risk of malignancy and its treatment.

Giant fibroadenoma masquerading as cystosarcoma phylloides in an elderly lady-a case report and review of literature.

Giant Fibroadenoma is commonly seen in young women. Here, we are reporting the case of an elderly lady who was diagnosed with Cystosarcoma Phylloides clinically and by FNAC. Simple mastectomy was performed and histopathology revealed a Giant Fibroadenoma.

A longitudinal study of consistency in diagnostic accuracy of teledermatology tools.

Background: Diagnostic accuracy (DA) is an outcome measure to assess the feasibility of teledermatology tools. Despite ample data with variable DA values, no study has examined the aggregate DA value obtained from the available studies and observed its consistency over a period of time. This kind of a longitudinal study about teledermatology will be necessary to check its usefulness and plan for further implementation.

Physicochemical characterization and toxicological evaluation of plant-based anionic polymers and their nanoparticulated system for ocular delivery.

The water-soluble fractions of mucilages and gum from the seeds of fenugreek, isphagula and mango bark exudate were isolated, purified and characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), maldi/GC-MS, elemental analysis, 1D ((1)H and (13)C) and 2D (HMQC, COSY) nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). The fenugreek mucilage was identified to be a galactomannan chain consisting of 4 units of galactose attached to the backbone of 6 mannose units in 1:1.5 ratio.
