Percutaneous treatment of calcified coronary lesions is still a challenge in modern interventional cardiology practice. Coronary angiography is limited to the precise and quantitative assessment of calcium in coronary arteries. Intracoronary imaging (ICI) modalities, including optical coherence tomography (OCT) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), produce a very detailed image of calcifications and could help in proper percutaneous treatment.

We conducted a prospective cohort study of 20 patients with a history of paediatric multisystem inflammatory syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (PIMS group, median age seven years, 70% male) and 34 healthy controls without such a history (CONTROL group, median age eight years, 38% male) aged 5-12 years, to assess the immunogenicity of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine (Comirnaty®). Patients received two doses of COVID-19 mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine (10 ug/dose) 21 days apart. Pre-vaccine anti-S SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies were measured on the day of the first dose and at the median of 23 days after the second dose.

To assess the safety of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 mRNA BNT162b2 vaccine (Comirnaty®) among patients with the anamnesis of paediatric inflammatory syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (PIMS-TS), we conducted a prospective cohort study of 21 patients with history of PIMS (PIMS group, median age 7.4 years, 71% male) and 71 healthy controls without such an anamnesis (CONTROL group, median age 9.0 years, 39% male) aged 5-18 years.

Unlabelled: Every year in Poland there are approximately 1200 new cases of malignant tumours in children and adolescents. Leukaemia, CNS tumours, and lymphomas are the most frequently diagnosed cancers. Coping with a child's illness is challenging, which is why many parents suffer from anxiety, depression disorders, and even PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

The role of disturbed immunoglobulin content during recurrent respiratory tract infections (RTI) might escape recognition in practical children's diagnostics. This study aims to investigate the potential changes in serum impedance caused by a constellation of decreases in the immunoglobulin IgA, IgG, and IgM content in RTI. The control group consisted of children suffering from RTI without any evident decreases in immunoglobulins.

Background: Variants in ATP1A3 cause well-known phenotypes-alternating hemiplegia of childhood (AHC), rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism (RDP), cerebellar ataxia, areflexia, pes cavus, optic atrophy, sensorineural hearing loss (CAPOS), and severe early infantile epileptic encephalopathy. Recently, there has been growing evidence for genotype-phenotype correlations in the ATP1A3 variants, and a separate phenotype associated with variants in residue 756-two acronyms are proposed for the moment-FIPWE (fever-induced paroxysmal weakness and encephalopathy) and RECA (relapsing encephalopathy with cerebellar ataxia).
Materials And Methods: Herein, we are describing two new pediatric cases with a p.

Objective: To investigate the use of oxygen metabolism markers as predictors of mortality in patients with severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Methods: A retrospective analysis was undertaken to compare the medical records of patients with severe COVID-19 (53 deceased patients and 50 survivors). The survivors were selected from 222 records using a random number generator.

Respiratory diseases are among the most common disorders found in the clinical practice of every pediatrician. It is estimated that a total of 10-15% of children experience recurrent respiratory tract infections (RRTI). Unfortunately, there is no universal consensus on the definition of recurrent respiratory tract infections in children.

In consequence, it leads to an increased susceptibility to infections. Up to date, there are about 350 different disorders classified in that group.

Recurrent respiratory tract infections (RTI) are one of the most common diseases in childhood. Frequent infections adversely affect the development of a child and may lead to suspicion of immunodeficiency. An additional allergy component is thought conducive to infection occurrence.

Monitoring the antibiotic resistance of is an important step in the effective treatment of this bacterium, thus the aim of the present study was to assess the prevalence of antimicrobial resistance of strains isolated from pediatric and adult patients with primary infections in 2016-2018. Antral biopsies from 334 treatment-naïve patients (126 children and 208 adults) were obtained. A total of 71 clinical strains (22 from children and 49 from adults) were isolated and examined for amoxicillin (AMX), clarithromycin (CLR), metronidazole (MTZ), tetracycline (TET), and levofloxacin (LEV) susceptibility.

Sonoelastography is a novel technique that uses ultrasound waves to assess the elasticity of tissues noninvasively. It provides an ultrasound-based method to detect and display the relative stiffness of tissue. The main principle of sonoelastography is the measurement of tissue distortion in response to external compression.

Haemophilia is an entity, wherein the HCV infection rate is greater than in the general population and ranges between 70-90%. The majority of HCV infections were acquired by hemophiliacs in the 1980s, by the use of infected cryoprecipitate or fresh frozen plasma preparations. It is therefore highly likely that many of them, more than twenty years after the infection, have developed advanced liver disease.
