Progress in psychiatric treatment has led to important improvements in the quality of life of patients with severe mental illness (SMI). Nevertheless, the life expectancy of patients with SMI remains two decades shorter than that of the general population, and the most prevalent cause of death is cardiovascular disease. Given that the delivery of somatic care to a population of individuals with mental illness is specific, we developed a screening and intervention programme aimed at this vulnerable population.

Exam anxiety is beginning to affect an increasing number of students. We sought to examine whether there is an association between exam anxiety and life orientation in secondary school learners. We used the Suinn's Test Anxiety Behavior Scale questionnaire to assess exam anxiety and the Life Orientation Test-Revised questionnaire to determine students' life orientation.

Black Titanium Oxide/Activated TaS Flakes Photoelectrode for Plasmon Assisted Hydrogen Evolution at Neutral pH at High Current Density.

A heterojunction photo-electrode(s) consisting of porous black titanium oxide (bTiO) and electrochemically self-activated TaS flakes is proposed and utilized for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The self-activated TaS flakes provide abundant catalytic sites for HER and the porous bTiO, prepared by electrochemical anodization and subsequent reduction serves as an efficient light absorber, providing electrons for HER. Additionally, Au nanostructures are introduced between bTiO and TaS to facilitate the charge transfer and plasmon-triggering ability of the structure created.

Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and Artificial Neural Networks for Detection of MXene Flakes' Surface Terminations.

The properties of MXene flakes, a new class of two-dimensional materials, are strictly determined by their surface termination. The most common termination groups are oxygen-containing (=O or -OH) and fluorine (-F), and their relative ratio is closely related to flake stability and catalytic activity. The surface termination can vary significantly among MXene flakes depending on the preparation route and is commonly determined after flake preparation by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Factors controlling Mn and Zn contents in leaves of silver and downy birch in acidified soils of Central Europe and Norway.

In Central European mountain forests, foliar element concentrations (FECs) of manganese (Mn) in silver birch (Betula pendula Roth) are occasionally approximately 5000 mg kg and can represent stress for these plants. Factors controlling the Mn FECs in silver birch in Central Europe and downy birch (Betula pubescens Ehrh.) in Norway have not yet been fully deciphered.

Nanostructures on Fluoropolymer Nanotextile Prepared Using a High-Energy Excimer Laser.

This study is focused on polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) porous nanotextile and its modification with thin, silver sputtered nanolayers, combined with a subsequent modification with an excimer laser. Acute Progressive Pediatric Post-Traumatic Kyphotic Deformity.

Cervical kyphosis is a rare entity with challenging management due to the limitations of pediatric age, along with a growing spine. The pathogenesis is made up of a large group of congenital, syndromic and acquired deformities after posterior element deterioration or as a result of previous trauma or surgery. Effect of Ag modification on TiO and melem/g-CN composite on photocatalytic performances.

Here, the comparison of two different semiconductor materials is demonstrated, TiO and melem/g-CN composites-modified with balls of approximately 5 nm Ag nanoparticles (NPs) as photocatalysts for the degradation of the model dye acid orange 7 (AO7). The melem molecule synthesized here is one of a series of organic compounds consisting of triazine ring compounds with a structure similar to that of melam and melamine. The photodegradation process of AO7 was carried out to examine all powder materials as a potential photocatalyst.

Carbosilane ruthenium metallodendrimer as alternative anti-cancer drug carrier in triple negative breast cancer mouse model: A preliminary study.
