Progress in psychiatric treatment has led to important improvements in the quality of life of patients with severe mental illness (SMI). Nevertheless, the life expectancy of patients with SMI remains two decades shorter than that of the general population, and the most prevalent cause of death is cardiovascular disease. Given that the delivery of somatic care to a population of individuals with mental illness is specific, we developed a screening and intervention programme aimed at this vulnerable population.

Exam anxiety is beginning to affect an increasing number of students. We sought to examine whether there is an association between exam anxiety and life orientation in secondary school learners. We used the Suinn's Test Anxiety Behavior Scale questionnaire to assess exam anxiety and the Life Orientation Test-Revised questionnaire to determine students' life orientation.

Human activity is the cause of the continuous and gradual grooving of environmental contaminants, where some released toxic and dangerous compounds cannot be degraded under natural conditions, resulting in a serious safety issue. Among them are the widely occurring water-soluble perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), sometimes called "forever chemicals" because of the impossibility of their natural degradation. Hence, a reliable, expressive, and simple method should be developed to monitor and eliminate the risks associated with these compounds.

Introduction: The relationship between a poorly functioning thyroid gland and erectile dysfunction (hereinafter, "ED") has been demonstrated in many studies. If a man has thyroid problems, it can negatively affect his ability to achieve or maintain an erection. The thyroid gland produces hormones that affect metabolism and overall body function, including blood circulation.

Purpose: The accessory bones around the elbow are very rare variant structures, present in approximately 0.7% of cases. They can cause diagnostic problems and can be mistaken for pathological structures, especially when pain and limitation of elbow movements are present and a trauma can be traced in the patient's history.

Utilizing photocatalytic CO reduction presents a promising avenue for combating climate change and curbing greenhouse gas emissions. However, maximizing its potential hinges on the development of materials that not only enhance efficiency but also ensure process stability. Here, we introduce Hiroshima University Silicate-7 (HUS-7) with immobilized Ti species as a standout contender.

A heterojunction photo-electrode(s) consisting of porous black titanium oxide (bTiO) and electrochemically self-activated TaS flakes is proposed and utilized for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). The self-activated TaS flakes provide abundant catalytic sites for HER and the porous bTiO, prepared by electrochemical anodization and subsequent reduction serves as an efficient light absorber, providing electrons for HER. Additionally, Au nanostructures are introduced between bTiO and TaS to facilitate the charge transfer and plasmon-triggering ability of the structure created.

Background: Understanding the risk factors leading to intracranial aneurysm (IA) rupture have still not been fully clarified. They are vital for proper medical guidance of patients harboring unruptured IAs. Clarifying the hemodynamics associated with the point of rupture could help could provide useful information about some of the risk factors.

The properties of MXene flakes, a new class of two-dimensional materials, are strictly determined by their surface termination. The most common termination groups are oxygen-containing (=O or -OH) and fluorine (-F), and their relative ratio is closely related to flake stability and catalytic activity. The surface termination can vary significantly among MXene flakes depending on the preparation route and is commonly determined after flake preparation by using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Transition metal (TM) sulfides belong to the class of 2D materials with a wide application range. Various methods, including solvothermal, hydrothermal, chemical vapor deposition, and quartz ampoule-based approaches, have been employed for the synthesis of TM sulfides. Some of them face limitations due to the low stability of TM sulfides and their susceptibility to oxidation, and others require more sophisticated equipment or complex and rare precursors or are not scalable.

Many bio-applicable materials, medical devices, and prosthetics combine both polymer and metal components to benefit from their complementary properties. This goal is normally achieved by their mechanical bonding or casting only. Here, we report an alternative easy method for the chemical grafting of a polymer on the surfaces of a metal or metal alloys using alkoxy amine salt as a coupling agent.

Light-driven asymmetric photocatalysis represents a straightforward approach in modern organic chemistry. In comparison to the homogeneous one, heterogeneous asymmetric photocatalysis has the advantages of easy catalyst separation, recovery, and reuse, thus being cost- and time-effective. Here, we demonstrate how plasmon-active centers (gold nanoparticles - AuNPs) allow visible light triggering of chiral catalyst (proline) in model aldol reaction between acetone and benzaldehyde.

In Central European mountain forests, foliar element concentrations (FECs) of manganese (Mn) in silver birch (Betula pendula Roth) are occasionally approximately 5000 mg kg and can represent stress for these plants. Factors controlling the Mn FECs in silver birch in Central Europe and downy birch (Betula pubescens Ehrh.) in Norway have not yet been fully deciphered.

Cervical kyphosis is a rare entity with challenging management due to the limitations of pediatric age, along with a growing spine. The pathogenesis is made up of a large group of congenital, syndromic and acquired deformities after posterior element deterioration or as a result of previous trauma or surgery. In rare progressive cases, kyphotic deformities may result in severe "chin-on-chest" deformities with severe limitations.

Congenital erythrocytoses represent a heterogenous group of rare defects of erythropoiesis characterized by elevated erythrocyte mass. We performed molecular-genetic analysis of 21 Czech patients with congenital erythrocytosis and assessed the mutual link between chronic erythrocyte overproduction and iron homoeostasis. Causative mutations in erythropoietin receptor (EPOR), hypoxia-inducible factor 2 alpha (HIF2A) or Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) genes were detected in nine patients, including a novel p.

Background Context: Physiological ranges and dynamic changes of atlantoaxial rotation (ROT), total cervical spine rotation (ROT) and the percentage of ROT from ROT (ROT) for different age groups have not yet been investigated in a sufficiently sized cohort. Furthermore, it is not clear whether demographic variables such a sex, smoking status or diabetes affect ROT, ROT and ROT.
Purpose: Obtain physiological ranges of ROT, ROT and ROT for different age groups and determine their age-based dynamics.

Here, the comparison of two different semiconductor materials is demonstrated, TiO and melem/g-CN composites-modified with balls of approximately 5 nm Ag nanoparticles (NPs) as photocatalysts for the degradation of the model dye acid orange 7 (AO7). The melem molecule synthesized here is one of a series of organic compounds consisting of triazine ring compounds with a structure similar to that of melam and melamine. The photodegradation process of AO7 was carried out to examine all powder materials as a potential photocatalyst.

The carbosilane metallodendrimer G-[[NCPh(o-N)Ru(η6- p-cymene)Cl]Cl] (CRD13), based on an arene Ru(II) complex coordinated to imino-pyridine surface groups, has been conjugated with anti-cancer drugs. Ruthenium in the positively-charged dendrimer structure allows this nanoparticle to be considered as an anticancer drug carrier, made more efficient because ruthenium has anticancer properties. The ability of CRD13 to form complexes with Doxorubicin (DOX), 5-Fluorouracil (5-Fu), and Methotrexate (MTX) has been evaluated using zeta potential measurement, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and computer simulation.

During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020, the government of the Czech Republic issued a nationwide ban on visitors to maternity wards. We studied whether the absence of a close person during labor due to this ban impacted perinatal indicators. This study was performed using an administrative observational questionnaire focused on absolute frequencies of events sent to maternity facilities across the Czech Republic.
