Investigation of anti-DFS70 antibody in patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

Introduction: Dense fine-speckled 70 (DFS70) antibody is defined as an antinuclear antibody (ANA) pattern in indirect immunofluorescence (IIF). The presence of anti-DFS70 antibody has been shown as a potential marker for the exclusion of systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARD) (without any other SARD-associated autoantibodies). We aimed to investigate the frequency of anti-DFS70 antibodies in patients with SARD and in the blood bank donors (BD).

Introduction: Community acquired pneumonia (CAP) is responsible for an important part of treatment costs across the world. Even though posterior-anterior lung radiography (PALG) and direct sputum smear microscopy are required or routine diagnoses. The purpose of this study is to determine the diagnostic value of the bedside urine strip tests in CAP.

Bedside Echocardiography in Acute Myocardial Infarction Patients with Hemodynamic Deterioration.

Ventricular septal (VS) rupture after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is an uncommon complication in the reperfusion era. Bedside echocardiography (BECH) continues to be a strong diagnostic tool for emergency physicians treating dyspneic patients, especially for decision-making on the management strategies to use with these unstable patients. In the case we present here, a patient is diagnosed with a delayed mechanical complication after AMI, and a swift management plan is made with the aid of point-of-care BECH.

Infant colic or early symptom of autism spectrum disorder?

Background: Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders are common in autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Infant colic (IC), the functional GI disorder of infancy, has not been evaluated in this patient group. The aim of this study was therefore to determine the rate of IC in ASD and investigate a possible association between ASD and IC.

ACUTE EFFECT OF CAFFEINE ON MACULAR MICROCIRCULATION IN HEALTHY SUBJECTS: An Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography Study.

Purpose: To evaluate the acute effects of caffeine on macular microvasculature using quantitative optical coherence tomography angiography analysis.

Methods: Fifty-two healthy subjects aged 24 to 48 years were randomly divided into 2 groups: a control group, which received placebo, and a study group, which was subjected to caffeine. All participants underwent optical coherence tomography angiography at baseline and 1 hour after 200-mg oral caffeine intake in the study group and after oral placebo in the control group.

An evaluation of cause-of-death trends from recent decades based on registered deaths in Turkey.

Objectives: Although cause-of-death analyses are very important to define public health policy priorities and to evaluate health programs, there is very limited knowledge about mortality profiles and trends in Turkey. The aim of this study was to measure the trends in mortality within three broad cause-of-death groups and their distribution by age groups and gender and to describe the changes of leading causes of death between 1980 and 2013 in Turkey.
