Primary Pulmonary Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma Presenting as an Endobronchial Lesion: The Youngest Adult Patient in the Literature.

A 20-year-old female patient was admitted to hospital with complaints of chest and back pain in September 2018. There was a cavitary lesion in the upper zone of the left lung in the chest X-ray. Thorax CT revealed an irregular contoured and shaped mass with 87x67x79 mm sizes, in the upper lobe of the left lung lying to paramediastinal area.

Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour of the colon: 2 case reports and a comprehensive review of the literature.

Purpose: Inflammatory myofibroblastic tumour (IMT), which is also named as plasma cell granuloma (PCG) or inflammatory pseudotumour (IPT), is a rare tumour which rarely develops in the colorectal region. We aimed to review all reported cases to draw attention about this rare tumour.

Methods: We present two new cases of colonic IMT with no recurrence during the follow-up period.

Ocular Surface Changes in Hashimoto's Thyroiditis Without Thyroid Ophthalmopathy.

Objective: We sought to evaluate ocular surface changes in patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis without thyroid ophthalmopathy and elucidate the relationship between dry eye syndrome and meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) in cases of Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Methods: This prospective study included 105 patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and 105 age- and sex-matched controls. The 12-item Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) questionnaire was administered to all patients.

Mini-thoracotomy versus median sternotomy for atrial septal defect closure: Should mini-thoracotomy be applied as a standard technique?

Background: This study aims to compare outcomes of minithoracotomy versus median sternotomy for atrial septal defect closure.

Methods: Between January 2012 and May 2017, a total of 44 patients (8 males, 36 females; mean age 33.86 years; range, 14 to 63 years) who underwent atrial septal defect repair through mini-thoracotomy or median sternotomy in our clinic were retrospectively analyzed.

Methods: The data of brucellosis patients were analyzed retrospectively from 2010 through 2019. Patients were divided into two groups: focal involvement (-) and focal involvement (+).

Endoscopic resection for giant oesophageal fibrovascular polyp.

A fibrovascular polyp is a rare benign pseudotumour of the oesophagus and hypopharynx. Although patients usually present with dysphagia, aspiration related mortality may occur. If the tumour is too large and/or located in the proximal oesophagus, it may protrude from the mouth.

Should we still doubt the success of emergency oncologic colorectal surgery?: A retrospective study.

Background: In recent years, the importance of oncologic principles in colorectal cancer (CRC) surgery has been emphasized in many studies. Although emergency surgery is related to high morbidity and mortality rates, their adequacy and prognosis in maintaining oncologic principles are still controversial. This study aims to compare the clinicopathological features of CRC patients who underwent emergency and elective surgical resection and also to evaluate their compatibility with oncologic principles and to evaluate their short/long term results.

House advancement flap anoplasty for severe post-hemorrhoidectomy anal stenosis.

Anal stenosis (AS), which is a very rare but serious complication, usually develops after hemorrhoidectomy. It may be mild, moderate or severe depending on the grade of stenosis. While mild and moderate types can be monitored with conservative treatment, most of the severe type require advancement flap anoplasty.

Diagnostic value of four-dimensional computed tomography and four-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging in primary hyperparathyroidism when first-line imaging was inadequate.

Introduction: Accurate localisation of the abnormal hyperfunctioning gland with preoperative imaging has a critical role in parathyroid surgery to obtain a successful outcome. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of second-line imaging and their contribution to the treatment success in primary hyperparathyroidism when the first-line methods were negative or discordant.

Methods: Among the patients who underwent parathyroidectomy due to primary hyperparathyroidism, 33 who underwent four-dimensional computed tomography and/or four-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging because of negative or discordant first-line imaging results were included.

Androgen Receptor Expression in Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma of Breast: A Subset of Seven Cases.

Objective: Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) of the breast is an uncommon salivary type of breast carcinoma. It is a triple negative breast carcinoma with a basal-like phenotype that behaves in an indolent manner. Herein, we aimed to document clinicopathologic findings and hormone receptor status of ACC in the breast diagnosed in our institution during an eleven-year period.

A Rare Complication of Anticoagulant Therapy: Intramural Hematoma of the Small Bowel.

Background: Non-traumatic intramural hematomas of the small bowel (IHSB) are rare conditions which occur due to anticoagulant therapy. In this study, we aimed to explain our clinical approach to non-traumatic IHSB due to anticoagulant overdose and to present the long-term outcomes of the cases who were hospitalized.

Methods: Sixteen patients with non-traumatic IHSB were included and their medical records were retrospectively reviewed.

Impact of the type of anterior lamellar reconstruction on the success of modified Hughes procedure.

Purpose: To determine the long-term functional and cosmetic outcomes in patients who underwent modified Hughes procedure with different types of anterior lamellar reconstruction for lower eyelid defects.

Methods: This study included 58 patients who had undergone a modified Hughes flap for reconstruction of lower eyelids after tumor excision within a 10-year period. Data regarding patient demographics, size of eyelid defect, tumor pathology, surgical techniques, functional and cosmetic outcomes, and complications were recorded.

Diagnostic and prognostic value of new bioscore in critically ill septic patients.

Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic value of biomarkers and new bioscore in septic patients in intensive care unit (ICU).

Materials And Methods: A study was conducted on septic and non-septic patients in ICU. Diagnostic and prognostic values of C-reactive protein (CRP), procalcitonin (PCT), Sequential Organ Failure Assessments (SOFA) score and new bioscore were analysed statistically.

Assessment of the compliance with minimum acceptable technical parameters proposed by PI-RADS v2 guidelines in multiparametric prostate MRI acquisition in tertiary referral hospitals in the Republic of Turkey.

Purpose: Although the clinical use of multiparametric prostate magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) is increasing, the adherence to parameters for mpMRI, which had been described in the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System version 2 (PI-RADS v2) for an optimum image acquisition is unknown. In this paper, we aimed to determine the compliance with the minimum acceptable technical parameters for prostate mpMRI defined by PI-RADS v2 in tertiary care centers in Turkey.

Methods: We sent a survey to all radiology departments of tertiary referral hospitals in Turkey (n=120) to evaluate their adherence to PI-RADS v2 technical specifications.

Spindle epithelial tumour with thymus-like differentiation: report of two cases.

Spindle epithelial tumour with thymus-like differentiation (SETTLE) is a very rare neck malignancy arising from thymic tissue or branchial pouch, mostly seen in the early decades of life. SETTLE is thought to be a low-grade neoplasm but distant metastases have been reported. Fewer than 50 cases have been reported in the PubMed database.

Platelet to Lymphocyte Ratio in Neonates: A Predictor of Early onset Neonatal Sepsis.

Background: Neonatal sepsis (NS) is a common systemic disease that causes morbidity and mortality in newborns. But there is no ideal biomarker that can be used in the early diagnosis of NS. In recent studies, platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has been reported to play a critical role in the inflammatory process.

New Diagnostic Possibilities for Early Onset Neonatal Sepsis: Red Cell Distribution Width to Platelet Ratio.

Red cell distribution width to platelet ratio (RPR) has been reported as a useful inflammatory marker and prognostic indicator of adult inflammatory diseases. In the present study, red cell distribution width (RDW) and RPR parameters, which are parts of a complete blood count analysis, were compared to the traditional C reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT) parameters to investigate the potential to predict early onset sepsis (EOS) in neonates with or without positive blood cultures. An observational, retrospective cohort study was conducted to evaluate newborns born in our hospital.

Parathyromatosis: a very rare cause of recurrent primary hyperparathyroidism - case report and review of the literature.

Parathyromatosis is a rare entity and usually appears as a consequence of the seeding on previous parathyroid surgery which was applied for the secondary hyperparathyroidism. A 63-year-old woman presented with a history of subtotal thyroidectomy 20 years ago and parathyroidectomy due to primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) four years ago. Imaging methods revealed multiple parathyromatosis foci on subcutaneous tissue of the neck.

Histopathological and Tumor Characteristics Associated with False Negative Axillary Ultrasonography Results in Breast Cancer.

Aims: As the false-negative rates of axillary ultrasonography (AUS) (21%-48%) are not optimal, the demand for axillary surgery remains even if AUS is negative. The aim of this study is to determine the histopathological and tumor characteristics associated with false-negative AUS results.

Materials And Methods: Patients with normal AUS were divided into two groups as true-negative and false-negative according to the histopathology results of axillary lymph nodes.

Effect of Eyelid Involvement in the Reconstruction of Medial Canthal Defects.

The purpose of this study was to present surgical techniques for the reconstruction of medial canthal defects with and without the involvement of the eyelid. This study included 31 patients who underwent medial canthal reconstruction after tumor excision during a 6-year period. Data regarding patient demographics, defect size, tumor pathology, surgery techniques, functional and cosmetic outcomes, and complications were recorded.

Investigation of anti-DFS70 antibody in patients with systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases.

Introduction: Dense fine-speckled 70 (DFS70) antibody is defined as an antinuclear antibody (ANA) pattern in indirect immunofluorescence (IIF). The presence of anti-DFS70 antibody has been shown as a potential marker for the exclusion of systemic autoimmune rheumatic diseases (SARD) (without any other SARD-associated autoantibodies). We aimed to investigate the frequency of anti-DFS70 antibodies in patients with SARD and in the blood bank donors (BD).

Failure in Revision Dacryocystorhinostomy: A Study of Surgical Technique and Etiology.

The aim of this study is to assess the etiologic factors of primary dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) failure according to DCR techniques and also to determine risk factors for the prediction of failure in revision external DCR. Retrospective review was performed in patients who underwent revision external DCR for previous DCR failure between 2008 and 2018. All patients underwent full ophthalmic and intranasal examination, lacrimal probing, and irrigation.

Assessment of tear meniscus by optical coherence tomography in patients with canalicular laceration repair.

Purpose: To analyze tear meniscus measurements with optical coherence tomography (OCT) in patients with canalicular laceration repair.

Methods: Thirty-four consecutive patients who underwent unilateral canalicular repair due to canalicular laceration between January 2014 and December 2018 were included. All patients had canalicular repair followed by monocanalicular or annular silicone tube intubation.
