Hypoxia, cancer, tissue damage, and acidic pH conditions are interrelated, as chronic hypoxic conditions enhance the malignant phenotype of cancer cells, causing more aggressive tissue destruction, and hypoxic cells rely on anaerobic glycolysis, leading to the accumulation of lactic acid. Therefore, the administration of oxygen is necessary to support the functions of healthy cells until the formation of new blood vessels and to increase the oxygen supply to cancerous tissues to improve the efficacy of antitumor drugs on tumor cells. In addition to O supply, pH-dependent delivery of anticancer drugs is desired to target cancer cells and reduce drug side effects on healthy cells.

In this paper, we propose a fluorescence-lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) multiplexing system based on the fluorogen-activating protein FAST. This genetically encoded fluorescent labeling platform employs FAST mutants that activate the same fluorogen but provide different fluorescence lifetimes for each specific protein-dye pair. All the proposed probes with varying lifetimes possess nearly identical and the smallest-in-class size, along with quite similar steady-state optical properties.

The authentication of edible oils has become increasingly important for ensuring product quality, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. Some prevalent authenticity issues found in edible oils include blending expensive oils with cheaper substitutes or lower-grade oils, incorrect labeling regarding the oil's source or type, and falsely stating the oil's origin. Vibrational spectroscopy techniques, such as infrared (IR) and Raman spectroscopy, have emerged as effective tools for rapidly and non-destructively analyzing edible oils.

The morphological characteristics of tissue engineering scaffolds, such as pore and window diameters, are crucial, as they directly impact cell-material interactions, attachment, spreading, infiltration of the cells, degradation rate and the mechanical properties of the scaffolds. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is one of the most commonly used techniques for characterizing the microarchitecture of tissue engineering scaffolds due to its advantages, such as being easily accessible and having a short examination time. However, SEM images provide qualitative data that need to be manually measured using software such as ImageJ to quantify the morphological features of the scaffolds.

In this study, the structural, electronic, vibrational, and mechanical properties of single-layer Antimony Oxyselenide (SbOSe) and its hydrogenated structure (SbOSeH) are investigated by performing density functional theory-based first principles calculations. Geometry optimizations reveal that single-layer SbOSecrystallizes in tetragonal structure which is shown to possess dynamical stability by means of phonon band dispersions. In addition, the mechanical stability of the predicted single layer is satisfied via the linear-elastic parameters.

Motivated by the highly anisotropic nature of bulk hafnium pentatelluride (HfTe), the structural, vibrational, electronic, optical, and elastic properties of single-layer two-dimensional (2D) HfTe were investigated by performing density functional theory (DFT)-based first-principles calculations. Total energy and geometry optimizations reveal that the 2D single-layer form of HfTe exhibits in-plane anisotropy. The phonon band structure shows dynamic stability of the free-standing layer and the predicted Raman spectrum displays seven characteristic Raman-active phonon peaks.
