Article Synopsis
  • - The corpus callosum (CC) is a crucial brain structure that connects the two hemispheres, and its abnormalities can range from agenesis (absence) to hypoplasia (underdevelopment) and hyperplasia (overdevelopment).
  • - CC anomalies are often associated with other defects in the central and peripheral nervous systems, making diagnosis complex.
  • - Ultrasound (US) can reliably detect complete CC agenesis after the mid-trimester, with specific signs like the lack of the cavum septum pellucidum and colpocephaly, while more subtle issues like hypoplasia can also be identified using US and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

We present a case of transpupillary argon laser cyclophotocoagulation (TALC) in a patient with traumatic aniridia and aphakia secondary to blunt trauma who had previous bilateral trabeculectomy. Four months after the trauma the patient's intraocular pressure (IOP) rose to 35 mmHg despite topical antiglaucomatous medication. Inferior 180 degrees cyclophotocoagulation was performed with transpupillary argon laser in the first session and his IOP fell to values of 12-17 mmHg.

Introduction: Since topical anesthetics alone seldom provide adequate analgesia for laser resurfacing procedures, injectable forms of anesthesia are often required. However, their application is uncomfortable for the patient. In this study, it is investigated whether microneedle application would enhance the efficacy of topical anesthetics.

Introduction: Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is used in several different areas of surgery to enhance natural healing and the regenerative process by delivering increased concentrations of autologous platelets. However, there are controversies in the literature regarding the potential benefits of PRP, due partly to the lack of optimized and standardized preparation protocols. The aim of this study was to develop a standardized PRP preparation protocol.

Article Synopsis
  • Anogenital mammary-like glands can develop various pathological lesions similar to those found in breast pathology, although tumors in this region are quite rare.
  • A case study of a 28-year-old woman with a painless mass led to the discovery of a benign phyllodes tumor during microscopic examination.
  • The report highlights the need to recognize these uncommon lesions in unusual locations, discussing their potential origins and reviewing existing literature on similar cases.

Background: Measuring patient-reported outcomes has become increasingly important in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. There is no validated questionnaire in Turkish to evaluate quality-of-life issues for patients with mammary hypertrophy.

Objectives: The authors describe the reliability and validity of a translated Breast Reduction Assessed Severity Scale (BRASS) in evaluating Turkish patients.

Background: The aim of the study was to investigate the value of diffusion weighted MR imaging in the diagnosis of Modic type 1 change, which may be confused with the acute infectious spondylodiscitis on conventional MR imaging.

Patients And Methods: Twenty-seven patients with erosive intervertebral osteochondrosis, Modic type 1 and 18 patients with spondylodiscitis were included in this retrospective study. All images were acquired using on 1.

Purpose: In this retrospective study, we evaluated the contribution and role of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in differentiating acute and chronic forms of brucellar spondylodiscitis. We also describe the characteristics and some indistinguishable features of brucellar spondylodiscitis on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to emphasise the importance and limitations of MRI.

Materials And Methods: MRI examinations of 25 patients with brucellar spondylodiscitis were retrospectively reviewed and analysed by two experienced radiologists.

Revolutionary technological improvements and high-frequency transvaginal scanning have enabled the resolution of ultrasound imaging in the first trimester to increase such that detailed early fetal development can now be well visualized. This investment in imaging technology has enabled not only normal embryonic development but also chromosomal abnormalities and structural anomalies to be more easily and accurately diagnosed before the second trimester. This article is intended to help radiologists in the interpretation and clinical application of normal and abnormal first trimester ultrasound findings in early pregnancy.

Objectives: To determine the serum levels of adiponectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 in metabolic syndrome versus healthy controls and to see the relation of them with each other and with the metabolic syndrome components.

Methods: Adiponectin and plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 levels were measured in 53 subjects with metabolic syndrome and 30 healthy controls by ELISA. All subjects of metabolic syndrome had the criterias of metabolic syndrome (obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, dyslipidemia, glucose metabolism disorders).
