Introduction: The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive power of LENT (LDH in pleural fluid, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group [ECOG] performance status, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio in the serum, and tumor type) score which is a current prognostic score in patients with MPE and to determine its effect on survival and its status in clinical decision making. In addition, it was aimed to compare LENT score with the conventional but subjective score ECOG.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective observational study was conducted reviewing the medical records of patients managed for MPE (malign pleural effusion) between 2008 and 2018.

Background: CoronaVac, an inactivated whole-virion SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, has been shown to be well tolerated with a good safety profile in individuals aged 18 years and older in phase 1/2 trials, and provided a good humoral response against SARS-CoV-2. We present the interim efficacy and safety results of a phase 3 clinical trial of CoronaVac in Turkey.
Methods: This was a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial.

Background: Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) causing a pandemic mostly results in mild symptoms; however, it can evolve into serious complications. It is emphasized that if the term from the recent anticancer treatment to the diagnosis of COVID-19 was short, the probability of serious events increased in cancer patients. Therefore, early detection of COVID-19 and prevention of serious events is very important.

Purpose: We aim to establish the prognostic value of metabolic parameters of the primary tumor in patients diagnosed with vulvar squamous cell carcinoma (VSCC) who underwent a pretreatment F FDG PET/CT scan.
Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 47 patients with a histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of VSCC, and who underwent a F FDG PET/CT scan prior to treatment. The disease stage and age at diagnosis, the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), SUVmean, metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) values of the primary tumor, based on a baseline PET scan, were recorded.

Objective: Most exacerbations are mild to moderate, and antibiotic treatment for acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) is recommended for patients with severe exacerbations or severe underlying chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Therefore, we aimed to investigate the patient factors that are associated with the prescription of antibiotics for inappropriate indication in AECOPD.
Material And Methods: This study was an observational cross-sectional study conducted in an outpatient clinic.

Pneumococcal infections are an important cause of mortality and morbidity in Chronic Lung Diseases. However, exacerbations, which make the treatment of diseases very difficult, and corticosteroids used during treatment carry a great risk of pneumococcal infection and adversely affect the treatment. The most rational way to reduce the negative impact of pneumococcal infections on the clinical and economic burden of Chronic Lung Diseases is vaccination of the risky population.

Background/aim: Diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases requires a multidisciplinary approach, and a gold standard for histological diagnosis is open lung biopsy. Transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB) and in recent years an alternative method, cryobiopsy (TBLC), are used for the diagnosis of parenchymal lung lesions. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of concomitant conventional TBLB and TBLC.

Objectives: The present study evaluates the relationship between the expression levels of hormone receptors (HRs), Ki-67, p53 and serum cancer antigen 125 (CA125) levels in endometrial cancer and clinicopathological risk factors, and determines their prognostic values.
Material And Methods: This retrospective study included 49 patients with endometrial cancer whose estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) Ki-67 and p53 expression levels were determined through immunohistochemical methods, and whose preoperative serum CA125 levels were measured. Objective: The aim in the present study is to determine the prognostic value of metabolic parameters related to the primary tumors detected in pretreatment Fluorine-18 2-fluoro-2-Deoxy-D-glucose (F FDG) positron emission tomography/computerized tomography (PET/CT) scans of patients diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Material And Methods: Enrolled in this retrospective study were 63 patients with a histopathologically confirmed diagnosis of SCLC who underwent an F FDG PET/CT scan at baseline. Disease stage, age at diagnosis, gender, albumin level and maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), SUVmean, metabolic tumor volume (MTV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) values related to the primary tumor at the baseline PET scan were recorded, and the relationship of these factors with progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) was evaluated.
