In clinical practice, the impact of procedural or patient-related risk factors on 1-year clinical outcomes in patients receiving 1-month of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) followed by P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy after contemporary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) remains unclear. Using data from the multi-center REIWA registry which included patients treated with thin-strut biodegradable polymer drug-eluting stent (BP-DES) and 1-month DAPT followed by P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy, we assessed the primary endpoint (a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, definite stent thrombosis, ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, and major or minor bleeding) in patients with and without procedural (treatment of three vessels, three or more lesions, three or more stents, bifurcation with two stents, long stenting, and target of chronic total occlusion) and patient-related risk factor (renal insufficiency, anemia, peripheral vascular disease, prior or current history of heart failure and advanced age of ≥ 75 years). Among the 1,202 patients who underwent complete revascularization by PCI, 276 (23.

A 74-year-old woman presented to our hospital with the main complaint of anorexia and weight loss for several months. Computed tomography (CT) revealed right urinary stone, hydronephrosis, multiple lymphadenopathy, and a mass in the right kidney. Considering these findings, she was suspected to have renal malignancy (kidney or renal pelvis cancer) with multiple lymph node metastases; therefore, nephrectomy was performed.

Background: The safety and feasibility of using 1-month dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) followed by P2Yinhibitor monotherapy for patients after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with thin-strut biodegradable polymer drug-eluting stents (BP-DES) in daily clinical practice remain uncertain.
Methods and results: The REIWA region-wide registry is a prospective study conducted in 1 PCI center and 9 local hospitals in northern Japan. A total of 1,202 patients who successfully underwent final PCI using BP-DES (Synergy: n=400; Ultimaster: n=401; Orsiro: n=401), were enrolled in the registry, and received 1-month DAPT followed by P2Yinhibitor (prasugrel 3.

Objective We aimed to reveal detailed on-treatment lipid profiles, lipid-related surrogate markers, and factors predicting failure to achieve the guideline-recommended lipid management goal following guideline-recommended statin treatment in Japanese patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods Sixty AMI patients who underwent coronary intervention and had received rosuvastatin 10 mg/day since the start of their hospitalization were assessed for on-treatment lipid-related profiles, including high-sensitivity C-reactive protein, small dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (sd LDL-C), and lipoprotein (a), at the 12-week follow-up. Patients who failed to achieve the guideline-recommended lipid management at 12 weeks were defined as the "unachieved group.

Case Presentation: A 70-year-old man who had undergone hemodialysis for 6 years due to nephrosclerosis. Avelumab plus axitinib combination therapy was performed for repeated lung metastasis, and a complete response was achieved without major side effects.
This case report presents a rare occurrence of coagulopathy induced by antibiotics in a woman in her 90s with chronic bowel obstruction and massive colon cancer. The patient developed vitamin K deficiency-related coagulopathy following antibiotic administration, resulting in bleeding complications. Despite initial consideration of disseminated intravascular coagulation, further investigations revealed antibiotic-induced vitamin K deficiency.

Introduction: In the last few decades, considerable progress has been made in controlling surgical site infections (SSIs) using a combination of mechanical and oral antibiotic bowel preparation. However, the number of bacteria present after bowel preparation has not been clarified. In this study, we investigated the bacterial cultures of intestinal fluid samples from patients undergoing laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer after preoperative bowel preparation.

Background: Prostate cancer in the anterior region may be missed on a transrectal systematic biopsy (SBx). Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the performance of magnetic resonance imaging-transrectal ultrasound (MRI-TRUS) fusion targeted biopsy (TBx) in detecting anterior region cancer in patients with a history of SBxs.
Methods: Prostate biopsies were performed in 224 patients after multiparametric MRI, among whom 119 patients with prostate imaging reporting and data system (PI-RADS version 2) scores of 3 to 5 underwent MRI-TRUS fusion TBxs.

The region behind the coronary calcium could not be visualized by intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) because of acoustic shadow. However, some pathological studies have shown that IVUS delineated the vessel border behind thin coronary calcium sheets. This study aimed to reveal whether recent IVUS can visualize the region behind thin coronary calcium sheets.

However, the direct observation of the hernial orifice is frequently difficult because the hernia disappears in prone or lateral positions, which is an issue when using the open approach. Therefore, using anatomical landmarks to detect the hernial orifice on preoperative CT scans may be useful for correct identification and visualization.

Objectives: In the treatment of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) with bone metastases, radium-223 dichloride (Ra-223) is the only bone-targeted drug that shows survival benefits. Completing six courses of Ra-223 treatment is thought to be associated with better patient survival, but this treatment has a relatively high rate of acute adverse events.
Methods: This retrospective study included 85 patients from 12 institutions in Japan to investigate the clinical significance of the completion of Ra-223 treatment and acute adverse events in CRPC patients.

Background: Although neurological adverse events have been reported after receiving coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines, associations between COVID-19 vaccination and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) have rarely been discussed. We report here the incidence and details of three patients who presented with intracranial aneurysm rupture shortly after receiving messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) COVID-19 vaccines.
Case Description: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of individuals who received a first and/ or second dose of mRNA COVID-19 vaccine between March 6, 2021, and June 14, 2021, in a rural district in Japan, and identified the occurrences of aneurysmal SAH within 3 days after mRNA vaccination.
