Unlabelled: Capecitabine (CAP) is one of the most commonly prescribed fluoropyrimidines in oncology, especially in the treatment of colon cancer. Cardiac toxicity is a severe and potentially lethal adverse drug reaction (ADR) against fluoropyrimidines. Cardiac ADRs, such as myocardial infarction (MI), heart failure (HF), arrhythmias, and a number of cardiomyopathies, are reported for these molecules.

Digital twins (DTHs) and virtual twins (VTHs) in healthcare represent emerging technologies towards precision medicine, providing opportunities for patient-centric healthcare. Our scoping review aimed to map the current DTH and VTH technologies in oncology, summarize their technical solutions, and assess their credibility. A systematic search was conducted in the main bibliographic databases, identifying 441 records, of which 30 were included.

Introduction: Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) is a highly lethal malignancy originating in the bile ducts, often diagnosed late with poor prognosis. Differentiating benign from malignant biliary tumors remains challenging, necessitating advanced diagnostic techniques.
Objective: This study aims to enhance the diagnostic accuracy of endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) for distal cholangiocarcinoma (dCCA) using advanced convolutional neural networks (CCNs) for the classification and segmentation of EUS images, specifically targeting dCCAs, the pancreas, and the bile duct.

This review addresses the peri-procedural bleeding risks in patients with cirrhosis, emphasizing the need for careful coagulation assessment and targeted correction strategies. Liver disease presents a unique hemostatic challenge, where traditional coagulation tests may not accurately predict bleeding risk, complicating the management of procedures like paracentesis, endoscopic therapy, and various interventional procedures. As such, this paper aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of current data, guidelines, and practices for managing coagulation in cirrhotic patients, with a focus on minimizing bleeding risk while avoiding unnecessary correction with blood products.

This article proposes the synthesis and characterization of (triethylene glycol dimethacrylate-N,N-dihydroxyethyl-p-toluidine) TEGDMA-DHEPT self-healing microcapsules for their inclusion in dental composite formulations. The obtaining method is the in situ emulsion polymerization of the (poly urea-formaldehyde) (PUF) coatings. The microcapsules were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques.

: In psychiatric disorders, antipsychotics and antidepressant medication are often administered together. Aripiprazole, a third-generation antipsychotic drug, is extensively metabolized by CYP2D6 and CYP3A4 isoenzymes, while bupropion, used in depressive disorders, is known as a moderate or strong CYP2D6 enzyme inhibitor. This in vivo experiment aimed to assess the presence of a pharmacokinetic drug interaction between aripiprazole and bupropion and its magnitude on the systemic exposure of aripiprazole.

: The main aim of this research was to assess the reliability of two systems designed specifically for condylar movement recording using condylar slope and Bennett angle information. The objectives were to evaluate the validity of two subsequent null hypotheses: (1) there is no significant difference between the measurements of condylar slope and Bennett angle taken at T0 (initial) and T1 (after one week) using the same equipment; (2) there is no notable difference in the values of the condylar slope and Bennett angle measurements obtained using Modjaw and Cadiax 2. : An observational, descriptive, and prospective study was conducted with a selected group of 25 individuals (13 females and 12 males) aged between 22 and 27.

Background: The Improved Health Care in Neurology and Psychiatry-Longer Life (IHCNP) study was an 18-month prospective, observational, non-interventional research study focused on patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) following ischemic stroke.
Objectives: Our secondary analysis of the IHCNP data aimed to document the progression of MCI in this patient group.
Methods: A total of 100 patients from Romania were recruited, all of whom underwent cognitive assessments using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), and Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (RAVLT).

We describe the case of a 72-year-old man who presented with signs of increased intracranial pressure, right-sided motor deficit, and repeated episodes of epilepsy due to a left frontal arteriovenous malformation (AVM) with a large superficial draining vein. Despite great efforts to protect the vein from the start, it ruptured shortly after we removed the bone flap. This required rigorous hemorrhage control, which in turn led to profuse bleeding from the nidus throughout the process of the dissection and coagulation of the arterial feeders.

New -substituted AB-type phenothiazinyl porphyrins and ferrocenylvinyl phenothiazinyl porphyrin were synthesised by Suzuki-Miyaura and Mizoroki-Heck cross-coupling reactions, respectively. The free porphyrins were further used in the synthesis of new indium(iii) or zinc(ii) porphyrin complexes. All porphyrins exhibit red fluorescence emission in solution, a property that remains unimpaired following internalisation in ovarian A2780 cancer cells, as evidenced by fluorescence microscopy images.

Background: The presence of low-grade inflammation has been reported in people with type 2 diabetes and related to the development of (macro)vascular complications. Whether systemic inflammation is present in type 1 diabetes and linked to long-term complications remains unknown. We used a targeted proteomics approach to compare inflammation in people with type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes with control subjects and linked these proteins to diabetes related characteristics and complications.

Receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) are key cell surface receptors involved in cell communication and signal transduction, with great importance in cell growth, differentiation, survival, and metabolism. Dysregulation of RTKs, such as EGFR, VEGFR, HER2 or ROR, could lead to various diseases, particularly cancers. ROR1 has emerged as a promising target in hematological malignancies.

The concept of schizophrenia as a mental condition is subject to deconstruction for a broader approach toward a systemic disorder by encompassing the links with inflammation. Beyond the salient psychotic symptoms of schizophrenia, the negative symptoms remain the silent cause of deterioration and the hallmark of a worse prognosis. Either as part of a unitary disorder or as a distinct subtype of schizophrenia, the negative symptoms seem to be associated with specific biological features.

Rationale: The role of the innate immune system in polycystic liver disease (PLD) has been underexplored despite its potential importance in disease progression. This study explores the innate immune response in PLD patients by analyzing cytokine production of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in response to various pathogens compared to healthy controls.
Methods: Samples were collected from patients with ADPLD or ADPKD and PLD.

Trained immunity induces antigen-agnostic enhancement of host defense and protection against secondary infections, but inappropriate activation can contribute to the pathophysiology of inflammatory diseases. Tight regulation of trained immunity is therefore needed to avoid pathology, but little is known about the endogenous processes that modulate it. Here, we investigated the potential of IL-10, a prototypical anti-inflammatory cytokine, to inhibit trained immunity.

Background/objectives: Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a disorder characterized by insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia. Myricetin, a flavonoid found in various plants, has shown potential anti-diabetic effects in murine studies. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the impact of myricetin supplementation on glucose metabolism and lipid profiles in mouse models of metabolic diseases.
