Introduction: Vaccine hesitancy is a complex issue of global concern. As nurses play a vital role in delivering patient care and shaping public opinions on vaccines, interventions to address vaccine hesitancy in nursing are imperative. As such, identifying profiles of characteristics and attitudes contributing to hesitancy may help identify specific areas of focus to target tailored global vaccination uptake campaigns.

Sarcopenia and frailty are common complications in patients with cirrhosis evaluated for liver transplantation (LT). Although the negative impact of sarcopenia on patient's outcome has been well studied, the prognostic role of frailty is not as clear. We assessed the prevalence of sarcopenia and frailty and the clinical impact of frailty in a prospective cohort of cirrhosis patients with and without hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) listed for LT.

Several mammalian genes have originated from the domestication of retrotransposons, selfish mobile elements related to retroviruses. Some of the proteins encoded by these genes have maintained virus-like features; including self-processing, capsid structure formation, and the generation of different isoforms through -1 programmed ribosomal frameshifting. Using quantitative approaches in molecular evolution and biophysical analyses, we studied 28 retrotransposon-derived genes, with a focus on the evolution of virus-like features.

Background: Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) reflect patient perceptions of disease and treatment and are important for evaluating new therapies.
Objectives: Evaluate the effects of once-daily concizumab prophylaxis on health-related quality of life (HRQoL), treatment burden, and treatment preference in males aged ≥12 years with hemophilia A/B with inhibitors.
Methods: Patients enrolled in the multicenter, open-label explorer7 phase 3 study (ClinicalTrials.

Objectives: Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA)-related features on neuroimaging often coexist with signs of arteriolosclerosis-small vessel disease on neuroimaging in people with intracranial hemorrhage (ICH). This study aimed at defining the value of amyloid pathology detected by flutemetamol PET in reclassification and stratification of risk of bleeding in people with mixed CAA-arteriolosclerosis features.
Methods: We included consecutive patients admitted to 2 institutions (2018-2023) with spontaneous symptomatic ICH, subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), transient focal neurologic episodes (TFNE), or cognitive impairment and MRI showing CAA hallmarks.

Precancerous and cancerous lesions of the uterine cervix are known to be associated with Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection. The screening of high-risk (HR)-HPV infection in the female population has led to the discovery of several cases of a double cervix, a congenital malformation that is very rare. The purpose of this study was to evaluate HR-HPV infections in women with a double cervix within the National Cervical Cancer Screening program of the Lazio region (Italy).

Hospital-acquired pneumonia (HAP) and ventilation-associated pneumonia (VAP) are challenging clinical conditions due to the challenging tissue penetrability of the lung. This study aims to evaluate the potential role of fosfomycin (FOS) associated with ceftazidime/avibactam (CZA) in improving the outcome in this setting. We performed a retrospective study including people with HAP or VAP treated with CZA or CZA+FOS for at least 72 h.

Purpose: To evaluate if background parenchymal enhancement (BPE) on contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM), graded according to the 2022 CEM-dedicated Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) lexicon, is associated with breast density, menopausal status, and age.
Methods: This bicentric retrospective analysis included CEM examinations performed for the work-up of suspicious mammographic findings. Three readers independently and blindly evaluated BPE on recombined CEM images and breast density on low-energy CEM images.

Background: Bone health management in premenopausal women with breast cancer (BC) under hormone-deprivation therapies (HDTs) is often challenging, and the effectiveness of bone-active drugs is still unknown.
Methods: This retrospective multicenter study included 306 premenopausal women with early BC undergoing HDTs. Bone mineral density (BMD) and morphometric vertebral fractures (VFs) were assessed 12 months after HDT initiation and then after at least 24 months.

Gene misexpression is the aberrant transcription of a gene in a context where it is usually inactive. Despite its known pathological consequences in specific rare diseases, we have a limited understanding of its wider prevalence and mechanisms in humans. To address this, we analyzed gene misexpression in 4,568 whole-blood bulk RNA sequencing samples from INTERVAL study blood donors.

Objective: The ISGPS aims to develop a universally accepted complexity and experience grading system to guide the safe implementation of robotic and laparoscopic minimally-invasive pancreatoduodenectomy (MIPD).
Background: Despite the perceived advantages of MIPD, its global adoption has been slow due to the inherent complexity of the procedure and challenges to acquiring surgical experience. Its wider adoption must be undertaken with an emphasis towards appropriate patient selection according to adequate surgeon and center experience.

Objectives: The revised European Society of Musculoskeletal Radiology (ESSR) consensus guidelines on soft tissue tumor imaging represent an update of 2015 after technical advancements, further insights into specific entities, and revised World Health Organization (2020) and AJCC (2017) classifications. This second of three papers covers algorithms once histology is confirmed: (1) standardized whole-body staging, (2) special algorithms for non-malignant entities, and (3) multiplicity, genetic tumor syndromes, and pitfalls.
Materials And Methods: A validated Delphi method based on peer-reviewed literature was used to derive consensus among a panel of 46 specialized musculoskeletal radiologists from 12 European countries.

Background And Purpose: Mechanical thrombectomy (MT) along with emergent carotid stent placement (eCAS) has been suggested to have a greater benefit in patients with tandem lesions (TL), compared with other strategies of treatment. Nonetheless, there is no agreement on whether the intracranial occlusion should be treated before the cervical ICA lesion, or vice versa. In this retrospective multicenter study, we sought to compare clinical and procedural outcomes of the 2 different treatment approaches in patients with TL.

Importance: Whether patients with Child-Pugh class B (CP-B) cancer with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) benefit from active anticancer treatment vs best supportive care (BSC) is debated.
Objective: To evaluate the association of immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-based therapies vs BSC with overall survival (OS) of patients with uHCC and CP-B liver dysfunction.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective, multicenter, international clinical case series examined data of patients with CP-B with uHCC who were receiving first-line ICI-based regimens from September 2017 to December 2022 whose data were extracted from an international consortium and compared with a cohort of patients with CP-B receiving BSC.

Metastatic spread to the central nervous system (CNS) is frequent in anaplastic lymphoma kinase ( ALK )-rearranged non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and has an important impact on patient prognosis and quality of life. Leptomeningeal involvement may occur in up to 10% of cases of ALK-positive NSCLC. Lorlatinib is a third-generation ALK inhibitor that has excellent CNS penetrability and demonstrated its efficacy both in pretreated and treatment-naive patients.
