Background: Vaccination is a key measure in influenza control, yet global coverage rates remain low, although previous research reported an increase in influenza vaccination coverage rates (VCR) after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to assess whether these changes were sustained over time by analyzing VCR trends from 2012 to 2023 in the countries included in the FluCov project.

Methods: Data on influenza VCR from 2012 to 2023 for different age and risk groups were extracted from national health organizations and international sources for countries included in the FluCov project.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a potential method for improving verbal function by stimulating Broca's area. Previous studies have shown the effectiveness of using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to optimize the stimulation site, but it is unclear whether similar optimization can be achieved using scalp electroencephalography (EEG). Here, we investigated whether tDCS targeting a brain area identified by EEG can improve verbalization performance during a picture-naming task.

Biallelic mutations in the SACS gene, encoding sacsin, cause early-onset autosomal recessive spastic ataxia of Charlevoix-Saguenay (ARSACS), a neurodegenerative disease also characterized by unique and poorly understood retinal abnormalities. While two murine models replicate the phenotypic and neuronal features observed in patients, no retinal phenotype has been described so far. In a zebrafish knock-out strain that faithfully mirrors the main aspects of ARSACS, we observed impaired visual function due to photoreceptor degeneration, likely caused by cell cycle defects in progenitor cells.

Wrist denervation using a two-incision technique is an alternative to proximal row carpectomy and partial or total wrist arthrodesis. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether two-incision denervation is a valid procedure for reducing pain in wrist arthritis of different etiologies.

Clinical characteristics, management, and malignancy rate of oral lichen planus: a European multicenter study.

Introduction: Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic inflammatory mucocutaneous condition that includes a spectrum of oral clinical manifestations ranging from mild painless white lesions to painful erosions and ulcers. The purpose of this European multicenter study is to describe the general characteristics of OLP lesions, the clinical and histopathological diagnosis, and the management of OLP at different European Oral Medicine and Maxillofacial Surgery centers, in order to minimize selections biases and provide information about the current trends in the treatment of OLP across Europe.

Materials And Methods: Data and histopathological records of patients with OLP were retrospectives revised and only those patients that fulfilled the diagnostic criteria from the 2016 position paper by American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology were included.

Social capital and vaccination compliance: Evidence from Italy.

Exploiting high-frequency vaccination data for COVID-19 and social capital measures at the municipal level in Italy between January and October 2021, this paper estimates the effect of social capital on vaccination compliance. We find that weekly vaccination coverage increased up to 1.60 percentage points more in municipalities with higher social capital.
