Objective: Regardless of remission status, residual pain (RP) might persist in rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The aim of this study was to characterize RP, its perception, and patient-dependent features and to evaluate its possible association with residual synovitis in patients with RA in remission.

Methods: Ninety-seven patients with RA, including 68 in sustained clinical and ultrasound remission (Rem/RA) and 29 in high/moderate DAS28-CRP disease activity (H-Mo/RA) were enrolled in the study.

Introduction: Ceftazidime-avibactam (CAZ-AVI) has emerged as a promising treatment option for Gram-negative infections, particularly those caused by CAZ-Non-Susceptible (NS) pathogens. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the efficacy and safety of CAZ-AVI in these challenging infections.

Methods: We systematically queried EMBASE, Cochrane CENTRAL, and PubMed/Medline for studies published until September 15, 2024.

Classification of paravertebral muscle trophism and its correlation with thoraco-lumbar fascia thickening in patients with chronic low back pain.

Objective: The aim of this work is to demonstrate how the chronicity of low back pain can modify the trophism of the paraspinal muscles, by performing an ultrasound and MRI evaluation of the paraspinal muscles in the lumbar spine and correlating it to the time of onset of low back pain.

Materials And Methods: An ultrasound evaluation was carried out in the lumbar area with a 5-17 MHz linear probe of the paraspinal muscles of the lumbar region, compared with the MRI of the lumbar spine, in patients presented to our attention for chronic low back pain (> 6 months), from January 2021 to January 2023. In each patient, two series of images were analyzed, in the coronal and sagittal planes.

Methods: This single-center retrospective cohort study analyzed vitrified-warmed single euploid top-quality day-5 blastocyst transfers performed in non-obese women at the same IVF center by four equally trained clinicians using a standardized ET technique. These strict inclusion criteria allowed excluding all main confounders on the primary study outcome, namely clinical pregnancy rate (CPR) per ET across different operators.

Blood Flow Velocity Analysis in Cerebral Perforating Arteries on 7T 2D Phase Contrast MRI with an Open-Source Software Tool (SELMA).

Blood flow velocity in the cerebral perforating arteries can be quantified in a two-dimensional plane with phase contrast magnetic imaging (2D PC-MRI). The velocity pulsatility index (PI) can inform on the stiffness of these perforating arteries, which is related to several cerebrovascular diseases. Currently, there is no open-source analysis tool for 2D PC-MRI data from these small vessels, impeding the usage of these measurements.

While surgical treatments exist, non-invasive methods are increasingly sought for their minimal recovery time. This study assesses the safety and effectiveness of a novel microwave-based device for treating SSL, aiming to provide long-term improvements in skin tightness and appearance.

Isolated metastasis of the bowel from undifferentiated thyroid carcinoma. A case report and a literature review.

In this article, we aim to demonstrate that thyroid carcinoma can metastasize to the small bowel. This case report involves a 66-year-old woman who underwent total thyroidectomy surgery in 2019, with histopathology revealing a 3A undifferentiated thyroid cancer. She presented with symptoms of bowel obstruction, including abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Efficacy of complement inhibition with pegcetacoplan in children with C3 glomerulopathy.

Background: C3 glomerulopathy (C3G) is a rare kidney disease due to a dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway, orphan of specific treatment. Pegcetacoplan is an inhibitor of the third complement component C3, currently on a phase III registration protocol in C3G. Here we describe our experience with the off-label use of pegcetacoplan in pediatric patients with C3G.

In most Eukaryota, telomeres are protected by the CST complex, composed of CTC1, STN1 and TEN1. In Drosophila, instead, another complex is present, composed of Modigliani, Tea and Verrocchio. We performed a search for STN1 orthologs in Arthropoda, in order to verify if Verrocchio can be considered as such.

Ravulizumab is a second-generation complement component 5 (C5) inhibitor (C5i) approved for the treatment of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH) following positive results from two pivotal trials in patients with PNH originally naive to C5i treatment and eculizumab-experienced patients with PNH. In both trials, after the 26week primary evaluation period, all patients received ravulizumab for up to 6 years. Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) contains an extensive stroma that modulates response to therapy, contributing to the dismal prognosis associated with this cancer. Evidence suggests that PDAC stromal composition is shaped by mutations within malignant cells, but most previous work has focused on pre-clinical models driven by KrasG12D and mutant Trp53. Elucidation of the contribution of additional known oncogenic drivers, including KrasG12V mutation and Smad4 loss, is needed to increase understanding of malignant cell-stroma crosstalk in PDAC.

Exploring linguistic and narrative competence in Italian children with developmental language disorder: A comparative study with typically developing peers.

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a clinical condition characterised by language difficulties without cognitive or neurological impairments, leading to communication and learning challenges. The study explores the narrative and linguistic abilities of children with DLD and Typically Developing (TD) peers by analysing both macrostructural and microstructural aspects of their narrative production elicited during a storytelling task and describing the types of grammatical and lexical errors. Participants included 19 children with expressive DLD aged 4-8 years and 19 TD children matched by age and gender.

Impact of Scanner Manufacturer, Endorectal Coil Use, and Clinical Variables on Deep Learning-assisted Prostate Cancer Classification Using Multiparametric MRI.

Purpose To assess the impact of scanner manufacturer and scan protocol on the performance of deep learning models to classify prostate cancer (PCa) aggressiveness on biparametric MRI (bpMRI). Materials and Methods In this retrospective study, 5,478 cases from ProstateNet, a PCa bpMRI dataset with examinations from 13 centers, were used to develop five deep learning (DL) models to predict PCa aggressiveness with minimal lesion information and test how using data from different subgroups-scanner manufacturers and endorectal coil (ERC) use (Siemens, Philips, GE with and without ERC and the full dataset)-impacts model performance. Performance was assessed using the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC).
