Purpose: This study aimed to assess the long-term results of THA patients who received a cementless short stem regarding clinical outcomes, bone changes, complications, and incidence of femoral revision.
Methods: A retrospective evaluation of the first 100 THA employing a type 2B cementless stem (Mini hip stem, Corin, Cirencester, United Kingdom) by the same surgeon at one institution. We only include patients with 18 years or more, and with a minimum follow up of 8 years.

This comprehensive review aims to explore imaging outcome measures targeting compartmentalized inflammation in Phase 2 clinical trials for multiple sclerosis (MS). The traditional primary imaging outcomes used in Phase 2 MS trials, new or enhancing white matter lesions on MRI, target the effects of peripheral inflammation, but the widespread inflammation behind a mostly closed blood-brain barrier is not captured. This review discusses several emerging imaging technologies that could be used as surrogate markers of compartmentalized inflammation, targeting chronic active lesions, meningeal inflammation, and innate immune activation within the normal-appearing white matter and gray matter.

Introduction: Recently, the FFR-Guidance for Complete Nonculprit Revascularization (FULL REVASC) trial in ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with multiple vessel disease (MVD) did not show differences in the composite endpoint of death from any cause, myocardial infarction, or unplanned revascularization than culprit-lesion-only percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) at 4.8 years, although complete revascularization is a recommendation IA in current guidelines. We want to determine through an updated meta-analysis whether complete revascularization is associated with decreased mortality and hard clinical endpoints compared to culprit lesion only PCI.

This article presents a case of a dorsal trigger wrist, which was brought on by a rupture of the fibro-osseous septum of the second extensor compartment. This situation is highly uncommon and has not been previously documented. The septum, which divides the extensor carpi radialis brevis and the extensor carpi radialis longus on the second extensor compartment, is present in almost 45% of the population.

Hip arthroscopy is a rapidly evolving field in orthopedics, offering diagnostic and therapeutic benefits for a range of hip pathologies. This review outlines a comprehensive guide to initiating hip arthroscopy safely and effectively using evidence-based practices. Optimal surgical outcomes depend on correct indications for surgery, in particular in the presence of borderline dysplasia and degenerative joint diseases.

Introduction: There are no reports in LATAM related to longitudinal humoral and cellular response to adenovirus based COVID-19 vaccines in people with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) under different disease modifying therapies (DMTs) and neutralization of the Omicron and Wuhan variants of SARS-COV-2.
Methods: IgG anti- SARS-COV-2 spike titer were measured in a cohort of 101 pwMS under fingolimod, dimethyl fumarate, cladribine and antiCD20, as well as 28 healthy controls (HC) were measured 6 weeks after vaccination with 2 dose (Sputnik V or AZD1222) and 3 dose (homologous or heterologous schedule). Neutralizing capacity was against Omicron (BA.

Background And Aims: INTERASPIRE is an international study of coronary heart disease (CHD) patients, designed to measure if guideline standards for secondary prevention and cardiac rehabilitation are being achieved in a timely manner.
Methods: Between 2020 and 2023, adults hospitalized in the preceding 6-24 months with incident or recurrent CHD were sampled in 14 countries from all 6 World Health Organization regions and invited for a standardized interview and examination. Direct age and sex standardization was used for country-level prevalence estimation.

Background: Acetabular retroversion is associated with impingement and instability. An adequate interpretation of acetabular version and coverage on radiographs is essential to determine the optimal treatment strategy (periacetabular osteotomy vs hip arthroscopic surgery). The crossover sign (COS) has been associated with the presence of acetabular retroversion, and the anterior wall index (AWI) and posterior wall index (PWI) assess anteroposterior acetabular coverage.

Background: We aimed to determine the association between lower extremity arterial calcification (LEAC) and referral to a closed unit (CU), length of stay, 90-day readmissions, and 1-year mortality in primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 705 patients who underwent primary THA, identifying 64 patients (9.13%) who had LEAC and 641 who did not have LEAC.

Purpose: Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) is the treatment for patients with chronic thromboembolic disease. In the immediate postoperative period, some patients may still experience life-threatening complications such as reperfusion lung injury, airway bleeding, and persistent pulmonary hypertension with consequent right ventricular dysfunction. These issues may require support with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) as a bridge to recovery or lung transplantation.

Background: Total patellectomy is currently reserved for exceptional cases, such as recalcitrant patellofemoral instability and comminuted fractures, due to its demonstrated negative impact on knee biomechanics. Therefore, managing patellectomy is crucial to mitigate its inherent deleterious effects. Various techniques have been described, including autologous or allogeneic bone grafts for reconstruction and soft tissue realignment to enhance the extensor mechanism.

Cirrhosis is an immune dysfunction state, and as such, patients with cirrhosis are susceptible to bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. Because of infection, these patients have a propensity to develop multiorgan failure, which is associated with high mortality. Bacterial infections are the most prevalent type of infection in patients with cirrhosis, with the prevalence of bacterial infections in patients admitted for an acute decompensating event ranging from 24% to 29%.

Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most prevalent malignant brain tumor in children, known for its heterogeneity and treatment-associated toxicity, and there is a critical need for new therapeutic targets. We analyzed the somatic mutation profile of 15 driver genes in 69 Latin-Iberian molecularly characterized medulloblastomas using the Illumina TruSight Tumor 15 panel. We classified the variants based on their clinical impact and oncogenicity.
