Background: To measure serum uPAR levels in patients operated with a preliminary diagnosis of acute appendicitis (AA) and to investigate whether these parameters can be used as a biochemical marker in the diagnosis of AA.

Methods: Patients aged 18 or over, presenting to the emergency department between May and December 2018 and operated with a diagnosis of AA were enrolled. This study included 84 patients with surgical pathology results compatible with AA (Group A), 26 patients with surgical pathology results were not compatible with AA (Group B) and 55 healthy control groups.

Patients with severe stroke and salvageable brain tissue at admission, who have higher glycaemic and blood pressure levels, may have a risk of iatrogenic hypoglycemia/iatrogenic hypotension. In this study, we examined the relationship between the presence of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI)/perfusion-weighted imaging (PWI) mismatch, admission blood glucose level, and admission blood pressure level in patients who were admitted in the first 12 hours after onset. We studied 212 patients who were prospectively and consecutively registered to the stroke unit from 2006 to 2009.

Indian J Pediatr

October 2019

Department of Pediatrics, Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Education and Research Hospital, Kazım Karabekir Paşa Mahallesi, Bahçeköy cad. No: 62,34453, Sarıyer/İstanbul, Turkey.

Objectives: To determine the allergic reactions that develop after Measles and Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccination, and whether any delay in the timing of vaccination occurs in children with food allergy.

Methods: Children with food allergy who were admitted to the Şişli Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital Healthy Child Clinic between 1st January 2015 and 30th June 2018 for Measles or MMR vaccination were studied retrospectively. Background: Verapamil, a calcium-channel blocker, has shown promising results on cerebral vasospasm. However, it has not yet been accepted for treatment or prevention purposes because of the associated side effects. Although the effective results of nimodipine and nicardipine's intrathecal administration are well known, intrathecal verapamil has not been considered earlier.

Introduction: Proximal junctional kyphosis - PJK has been defined by a 10 or greater increase in kyphosis at the proximal junction as measured by the Cobb angle from the caudal endplate of the uppermost instrumented vertebrae (UIV) to the cephalad endplate of the vertebrae 1 segments cranial to the UIV. In this biomechanical study, it is aimed to evaluate effects of interspinosus ligament complex distruption and facet joint degeneration on PJK development.

Materials And Methods: Posterior instrumentation applied between T2 - T7 vertebrae using pedicle screws to randomly selected 21 sheeps, divided into 3 groups.

Background And Purpose: The increasing prevalence of dementia over the previous decades has been accompanied by numerous social and economic problems. The importance of exercise in the prevention of dementia coupled with the impact of aspiration pneumonia on the mortality and morbidity of dementia patients cannot be overstated. This study investigates the effects of pulmonary rehabilitation combined with aerobic stretching exercises on the cognitive function, life quality, effort capacity, and level of depression in patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) in the early stages of dementia.

Background: We aimed to investigate the effects of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on electrocardiography (ECG), premature ventricular contraction load on 24-hour Holter recordings, and implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks in patients with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and heart failure.

Methods: Patients with heart failure and ICD and patients with newly diagnosed OSAS were divided into two groups according to CPAP treatment. To compare the impact of CPAP on ECG parameters, both baseline and 6-month ECG, 24-hour Holter ECG, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, echocardiography, polysomnography, and laboratory parameters were collected.
