Background/objectives: This research investigates brain connectivity patterns in reaction to social and non-social stimuli within a virtual reality environment, emphasizing their impact on cognitive functions, specifically working memory.

Methods: Employing the LEiDA framework with EEG data from 47 participants, I examined dynamic brain network states elicited by social avatars compared to non-social stick cues during a VR memory task. Through the integration of LEiDA with deep learning and graph theory analyses, unique connectivity patterns associated with cue type were discerned, underscoring the substantial influence of social cues on cognitive processes.

Objective: ACTION Teens (NCT05013359) surveyed adolescents living with obesity (ALwO), their caregivers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in 10 countries to identify attitudes, perceptions, behaviors, and barriers preventing effective obesity care. This subanalysis identified key findings from Türkiye.

Methods: In Türkiye, 700 ALwO (aged 12-<18 years), 700 caregivers, and 324 HCPs completed a cross-sectional survey (September-November 2021).

Enantiodifferentiation of Thiohydantoin Derivatives by NMR in the Presence of Chiral Solvating Agent: (1R,2S)-Ephedrine and Chiral Symmetrical and Unsymmetrical Thioureas.

2-Thiohydantoin derivatives, including different substitutions at N-1 and C-5 (5-methyl-, 5-isopropyl-, 1-acetyl-5-methyl-, and 1-acetyl-5-isopropyl-) (1-4, respectively), were synthesized by the known literature methods. In these synthetic pathways, it was reported that enantiomerically pure 2-thiohydantions were obtained in the absence of any solvent via the reaction of L-amino acids with thiourea (1&2) and via the reaction of L-amino acids with NHSCN and acetic anhydride (3&4). However, in this study, in contrary to the previous literature studies, racemic mixtures of 2-thiohydantoins were obtained although the same synthetic methods were used.

Microbial seafood safety assessment following a marine mucilage disaster in the Sea of Marmara.

Marine mucilage disasters, primarily caused by global warming and marine pollution, threaten food security and the sustainability of marine food resources. This study assessed the microbial risks to public health in common sole, deep-water rose shrimp, European anchovy, Atlantic horse mackerel and Mediterranean mussel following the mucilage disaster in the Sea of Marmara in 2021. We report a rare case of a massive polymicrobial shoulder abscess developing two decades after an insect bite, emphasizing its clinical presentation, diagnostic approach, and surgical management. A 65-year-old female presented with severe, progressively worsening right shoulder pain, a 20 cm swelling, and purulent discharge persisting for 15 days.

Impact of different glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor infusion routes on infarct size and microvascular obstruction in patients with high thrombotic risk ST elevation myocardial infarction.

Objective: Current guidelines recommend the use of glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GpIIb/IIIa) inhibitors in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) only as a bail-out therapy.
