A series of substituted quinolines was screened for their antiproliferative, cytotoxic, antibacterial activities, DNA/protein binding affinity, and anticholinergic properties by using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide cell proliferation, lactate dehydrogenase cytotoxicity, and microdilution assays, the Wolfe-Shimmer equality method, the Ellman method, and the esterase assay, respectively. The results of the cytotoxic and anticancer activities of the compounds displayed that 6-bromotetrahydroquinoline (2), 6,8-dibromotetrahydroquinoline (3), 8-bromo-6-cyanoquinoline (10), 5-bromo-6,8-dimethoxyquinoline (12), the novel N-nitrated 6,8-dimethoxyquinoline (13), and 5,7-dibromo-8-hydroxyquinoline (17) showed a significant antiproliferative potency against the A549, HeLa, HT29, Hep3B, and MCF7 cancer cell lines (IC  = 2-50 μg/ml) and low cytotoxicity (∼7-35%) as the controls, 5-fluorouracil and cisplatin. The purpose of the current study is to present the psychometric properties of the Short Schema Mode Inventory in the Turkish culture. The study sample comprised 1,287 participants, including both clinical and nonclinical participants. The age of the participants ranged between 18 and 48 years.

The aim of the present study is to provide additional knowledge about the mediatory processes through which language contributes to the symptoms of mental illness. Although recent studies have provided insight about the relationship between language and the indicators of mental illness, the role of intervening variables in this connection has been ignored. The present investigation tested a structural equation model in which the need for the absolute truth about self and worry mediated the relationship of the gap between inner psychological experience and language with anxiety and depression.

Distinct temperament and character traits in patients with hyperemesis gravidarum.

Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) is an extreme form of vomiting during pregnancy and is characterized with excessive vomiting and nausea and ketonuria, electrolyte imbalance, dehydration and severe nurtition deficiency. The etiology of HG is considered as multifactorial. Altough there is a great interest to HG in terms of psychiatric conditions, there have been limited numbers of studies that researched personality traits in patients with HG.

Investigation of the effect of dipyrone on cells isolated from intervertebral disc tissue.

The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of dipyrone, an indispensable analgesic, anti-pyretic and anti-spasmodic used in emergency departments, on nucleus pulposus and annulus fibrosus cells . After surgical biopsy, primary cell cultures were prepared from intact intervertebral disc tissues. Dipyrone was administered to the cultures in the experimental groups except for the control group.
