Resected gastric volume/number of staplers fired ratio as a tool in predicting complication and midterm results in sleeve gastrectomy.

Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy is a restrictive surgery that aims to decrease the gastric volume of the patient. This study hypothesized that a higher resected gastric volume to the number of fired staplers ratio is associated with improved postoperative 12th-month outcomes. To analyze the effects of resected gastric volume to the number of fired staplers ratio on postoperative results in patients who underwent sleeve gastrectomy.

Convolutional Neural Networks in the Diagnosis of Cervical Myelopathy.

 Artificial intelligence technologies have been used increasingly in spine surgery as a diagnostic tool. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the convolutional neural networks in the diagnosis of cervical myelopathy (CM) compared with conventional cervical magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).  This was a cross-sectional descriptive analytical study.

Methods: This was a multi-centre, prospective, observational study conducted in 21 participating centres from December 30, 2020, to June 30, 2023. The study included term newborns requiring parenteral fluid therapy for maintenance (NCT04781361).

Evaluation of antibody responses in healthcare workers before & after meningococcal vaccine and determination of meningococcal carriage rates.

The rates of nasopharyngeal meningococcal carriage in healthcare workers are unknown. Meningococcal vaccine is recommended for risk groups but healthcare workers are not included in risk groups for many countries. Herein, we aimed to investigate the nasopharyngeal meningococcal carriage rates, basal and after one dose of Men-ACWY-DT vaccine response on the 30th day by evaluating meningococcus IgG antibody levels and decolonization at month six after vaccination among the detected carriers.

Objectives: This study aims to accurately evaluate pain lasting longer than three months and falls under the category of chronic pain and to determine the risk factors to follow up and treat properly and to develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment algorithms.

Intensive Care Management of an Adult Patient With Rare Chilaiditi Syndrome Presenting as Abdominal Breathing: A Case Report.

Chilaiditi syndrome (CS) is an uncommon case of the asymptomatic radiographic finding of an intestinal loop between the liver and the diaphragm. The most crucial phases in the diagnosis process are a thorough physical examination and precise imaging, particularly in challenging disorders such as CS. The presence of free air under the right hemidiaphragm in this syndrome, the diagnosis of which is based on radiographic imaging, might direct the start of treatment without the need for surgical intervention.

Effect of Exergame on Pain, Function, and Quality of Life in Shoulder Impingement Syndrome: A Prospective Randomized Controlled Study.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of a virtual reality (VR)-mediated gamified rehabilitation program added to a home exercise program on pain, functionality, and quality of life in shoulder impingement syndrome. Forty-eight participants with shoulder impingement syndrome were included in this prospective, randomized, single-blind study between January and July 2022. The participants were randomized into two groups: the VR group ( = 24) and the control group ( = 24).

Posterior fixation of gastric tube with fibrin sealant in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy: a promising method to prevent revision surgeries.

Background: We aim to assess the effects of gastric posterior fixation with fibrin sealant in laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy in aspects of 12th-month body mass index and gastric volume.

Methods: The patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy between January 2019 and February 2021 were divided into two groups preoperatively. The first 75 patients were appointed to the posterior fixation group, and the second 75 were to the control group.

Measuring tactile sensitivity and mixed-reality-assisted exercise for carpal tunnel syndrome by ultrasound mid-air haptics.

Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is the most common nerve entrapment neuropathy, which causes numbness and pain in the thumb, the index and middle fingers and the radial side of the ring finger. Regular hand exercises may improve the symptoms and prevent carpal tunnel surgery. This study applied a novel ultrasonic stimulation method to test tactile sensitivity in CTS and also a mixed-reality-assisted (MR-assisted) exercise program which measured hand movements and provided haptic feedback for rehabilitation.

Diffusion tensor imaging in photosensitive and nonphotosensitive juvenile myoclonic epilepsy.

Introduction/background: Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (JME) syndrome is known to cause alterations in brain structure and white matter integrity. The study aimed to determine structural white matter changes in patients with JME and to reveal the differences between the photosensitive (PS) and nonphotosensitive (NPS) subgroups by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) using the tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS) method.

Methods: This study included data from 16 PS, 15 NPS patients with JME, and 41 healthy participants.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of cyclic oral dydrogesterone treatment and levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine device (LNG_IUD) on quality of life (QoL) and sexual function in patients diagnosed with abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).

Study Design: The study was conducted at the University of Health Sciences Turkey Health Istanbul Kanuni Sultan Süleyman Training and Research Hospital, on 171 sexually active patients, aged 18-45, who were under a minimum of 6 months of treatment for AUB. 85 patients were treated with oral cyclic dydrogesterone, and 86 patients received LNG-IUD.

Evaluation of femoral condyle volumes in patients with trochlear dysplasia: a pilot study.

Aim: To examine the volumes of the medial and lateral femoral condyles and the trochlear groove, and to determine their relationship with trochlear dysplasia.

Materials And Methods: Computed tomography images of the knees of 21 patients with trochlear dysplasia and 18 healthy individuals were analysed retrospectively. According to the modified Dejour classification, the degree of trochlear dysplasia was recorded, such as type A trochlea being low-grade dysplasia and types B, C, and D trochlea being high-grade dysplasia.
