Introduction: The aim of the study was to analyse the clinical and demographic features of infants with gestational age (GA) of 32-37 weeks and birth weight (BW) of >1,500 g who developed treatment requiring retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).
Methods: Data on the infants with a GA of 32-37 weeks and BW >1,500 g who developed treatment requiring ROP (TR-ROP) were collected retrospectively from the 33 ROP centres in Turkiye. GA, BW, type of hospital, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) level, presence of an ophthalmologist and neonatologist in the same hospital, length of stay in NICU, duration of oxygen therapy, comorbidities, type of ROP, and timing for TR-ROP development were analysed.

Objective: To investigate the anatomical parameters of the ideal screw trajectory for percutaneous intralaminar screw fixation of a pars defect in lumbar spondylolysis using computed tomography scans.
Methods: Using advanced radiological software, the ideal intralaminar screw trajectory was determined. The anatomical parameters of this trajectory were analyzed using a total of 80 single-level lumbar tomography scans in patients with spondylolysis at the lumbar 4 vertebrae and lumbar 5 vertebrae levels.

Background: The use of high-sensitivity troponin levels increases the sensitivity of the diagnosis of non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI). However, the inclusion of other factors in the differential diagnosis, apart from atherothrombosis causing myocardial injury, decreases the specificity of high-sensitivity troponin. In this study, we compared the efficacy of high-sensitivity troponin with serum oncostatin M in NSTEMI cases with elevated urea and creatinine.

Introduction: Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a non-invasive technique, used to modify the excitability of the central nervous system. The main mechanism of tDCS is to change the excitability by subthreshold modulation by affecting neuronal membrane potentials in the direction of depolarization or repolarization. tDCS was previously investigated as an alternative adjunctive therapy in patients with epilepsy.

Objective: Other primary headache disorders (OPHD) are under-investigated compared to frequent primary headache types like migraine, tension-type headache, and trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias. Knowledge of the distribution and characteristics of OPHD subtypes is crucial for their recognition. We aimed to determine the prevalence at the hospital and headache clinics and clinical characteristics of OPHDs in patients from 13 countries.

Background: Children requiring kidney replacement therapy experience high burden of cardiovascular (CV) disease leading to increased mortality. Intima-media thickness (IMT) indicating atherosclerosis is a validated surrogate marker for future CV events.
Methods: We investigated the effect of different treatment modalities (dialysis, preemptive kidney transplantation (KTx), late KTx after dialysis) on IMT by multivariable linear mixed-effect modeling.

Background: The optimal treatment for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) after the second line is still controversial. Regorafenib has been the standard of care in this setting as it improved overall survival (OS) compared to placebo. In real-world practice chemotherapy rechallenge is also a preferred option even though supporting evidence is not enough.

Background: Refugee populations have low levels of cancer awareness, low cancer screening rates, and a high rate of advanced or metastatic cancer at diagnosis. Educational interventions to improve cancer awareness and screening have been successful in other nationality refugee populations but have never been implemented in Afghan refugee populations. We aimed to estimate the level of breast cancer awareness among Afghan refugee women and test the feasibility of a telehealth breast cancer educational intervention to increase breast cancer awareness in this population.

Objective: The management of central venous catheter (CVC) occlusion remains an area without clear evidence-based guidelines. Studies have been conducted that compare the use of heparin and normal saline for reducing thrombosis, but the evidence is not strong enough to suggest a significant advantage of one over the other. Therefore, the study aimed to assess the effectiveness of heparin and normal saline flushing in preventing CVC occlusion in pediatric patients with cancer.
