Determination of the relationship between frailty level and quality of life in elderly individuals with type 2 diabetes.

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between frailty level and quality of life in elderly individuals with Type 2 diabetes. This descriptive and correlational study was conducted with 211 patients who applied to the diabetes outpatient clinic of a private and a public hospital in Istanbul between September and November 2022. The data were obtained by using the Personal Information Form, Edmonton Frail Scale and the Quality of Life in the Elderly Scale.

Depression and psychological help-seeking attitude among Turkish mothers of children with autism: problem-focused coping as a mediator.

Studies demonstrate that mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) experience depression and are less likely to seek professional psychological help. This study examined the roles of coping strategies in predicting psychological help-seeking attitudes among mothers of children with ASD. A total of 250 Turkish mothers of children with autism were recruited using purposive sampling during their training at the autism center in Istanbul.

Despite advances in cancer treatment, breast cancer (BC) remains one of the most common cancers affecting women worldwide. This study aimed to determine serum circFBXW7, circABCB10, and circ0103552 levels and compare BC patients and healthy controls to investigate their roles in the molecular mechanism of BC and the significance of these circRNAs in BC diagnosis. The study group consisted of 92 patients with BC and 31 healthy controls.

Determination of 16 European Priority Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Doner Kebab Varieties Cooked Under Different Heating Sources.

Doner kebab is a traditional Turkish meat product produced from lamb, beef or poultry meat seasoned with a blend of spices such as salt, black pepper, cumin, thyme and/or sauces. The aim of this study was to determine 16 EU priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in doner kebabs cooked under four different heating sources (electricity, open gas, wood and charcoal grilling). For this purpose, 200 meat doner and 200 chicken doner kebab samples were obtained randomly from various buffets and restaurants located in Istanbul and analyzed by means of GC-MS.

Risky behaviors in Ethiopian university students and its relationship with loneliness and coping self-efficacy.

Research shows that risky behavior peaks in young adulthood, endangering young adult's mental health and making it difficult for them to grow up to be responsible members of society. As a result, this study aimed to adapt the Risk Behavior Scale into Amharic and examine the relationships between risky behaviors, loneliness, and coping self-efficacy. A cross-sectional research design was used and convenience sampling was employed to gather data from a total of 242 Ethiopian university students.

Development of an empathy scale in nurses.

Our study is aimed at examining the Ice Hockey National Team players with regard to ACE I/D (rs1799752), ACTN3 (rs1815739), PPARA (rs4253778) and HIF1A (rs11549465) polymorphisms and physical tests. This study was participated by 21 players from ice hockey national team. While ACE I/D (rs1799752) polymorphism was obtained using conventional polymerase chain reaction method (PCR), ACTN3 (rs1815739), PPARA (rs4253778) and HIF1A (rs11549465) polymorphisms were produced by real time polymerase chain reaction method (qPCR).

In this study, the chemoselective synthesis of two new thiophene derivatives is presented. The structure of newly synthesized thiophenes derivatives; ethyl 4-acetyl-3-phenyl-5-(phenylamino)thiophene-2-carboxylate (5) and ethyl (E)-4-(3-(dimethylamino)acryloyl)-3-phenyl-5-(phenylamino)thiophene-2-carboxylate (8) were established using different FTIR and NMR spectral analyses. Compound 8 was isolated as single crystal and its 3D structure was determined using X-ray crystallographic analysis.
