Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of pressure ulcers (PUs) in patients treated for acute ischaemic stroke (AIS) and to evaluate comorbid/confounding factors.
Method: The study included patients treated for AIS who were divided into three treatment groups: those receiving intravenous tissue plasminogen activator therapy (tPA); patients receiving mechanical thrombectomy (MT); and those receiving both tPA and MT. PUs were classified according to the international classification system and factors that may influence their development were investigated.

Background: Sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL), which is frequently observed in otolaryngology clinics, is characterized by sudden onset hearing loss that can develop within hours or days. Its etiology is still not fully understood.
Aims/objectives: This research aims to identify prognostic biomarkers that can be utilized to assess the progress of SSNHL as well as circumstances that may predispose individuals to the disease.

The use of deep learning (DL) techniques for automated diagnosis of large vessel occlusion (LVO) and collateral scoring on computed tomography angiography (CTA) is gaining attention. In this study, a state-of-the-art self-configuring object detection network called nnDetection was used to detect LVO and assess collateralization on CTA scans using a multi-task 3D object detection approach. The model was trained on single-phase CTA scans of 2425 patients at five centers, and its performance was evaluated on an external test set of 345 patients from another center.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of temperature-controlled endobilliary radio-frequency ablation (EB-RFA) followed by metal stent placement for nonresectable malignant biliary strictures.
Material And Methods: From May 2017 to March 2021, 18 patients with malignant biliary obstruction who had undergone percutaneous EB-RFA and stent placement ( = 9) or stent placement only ( = 9) were included in this retrospective study. Outcomes were stent patency, technical and clinical success, overall survival, and 30-day complication rate.

Background And Objectives: Literature does not show any studies regarding plate placement problems in the coronal plane of patients with volar plating due to distal radius fracture diagnosis. We aimed to investigate the functional and laboratory results of the coronal malposition of the volar locking plate in patients with distal radius fracture treated with internal fixation.
Methods: In this retrospective study, we included patients who had volar plate fixation, were aged between 18 and 80, had no pathological fracture, had a minimum of six months of follow-up, and had the same rehabilitation protocol.

Background: Microwave ablation (MWA) is a safe and effective procedure for the treatment of benign thyroid nodules. The MWA causes progressive nodule shrinkage as well as the improvement of the symptoms and cosmesis. Some basic techniques have been described to further increase the efficacy and safety of this procedure.

To investigate the performance of a joint convolutional neural networks-recurrent neural networks (CNN-RNN) using an attention mechanism in identifying and classifying intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) on a large multi-center dataset; to test its performance in a prospective independent sample consisting of consecutive real-world patients. All consecutive patients who underwent emergency non-contrast-enhanced head CT in five different centers were retrospectively gathered. Five neuroradiologists created the ground-truth labels.

Cholecystectomy is the standard treatment of acute cholecystitis. Surgery, however, poses significant risks for patients with advanced age and/or comorbid conditions. For such patients, percutaneous cholecystostomy (PC) is the only option.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY To compare the functional and radiological results of the total arthroscopic treatment (TAT) performed due to the rotator cuff (RC) tear problem with the results of the arthroscopically assisted mini-open surgery (AAMOS). MATERIAL AND METHODS This study conducted over a two-year period included all had TAT or AAMOS. Patients were included in the study if they had undergone arthroscopic or mini-open rotator cuff repair, with a minimum of 2 years' follow-up.

Aim: To investigate the co-occurrence of the arcuate foramen (AF) variation of atlas and intracranial vertebral artery (V4) hypoplasia and, therefore, to understand the pathophysiology of Barré-Ličou syndrome (BLS). The AF localizes on the vertebral artery (VA) sulcus posterior to the atlas and has incomplete and complete types. Complete-type AF can exert pressure on the VA that passes through it, resulting in vertebrobasilar insufficiency finding, a BLS component.

Objective: In recent years, epicardial fat tissue (EFT) has been found to be strongly associated with the development of atrial fibrillation (AF). It was also reported to be a predictor of cardiac arrhythmias in different clinical situations. However, in the current literature, the role of EFT thickness in the development of AF in patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) has not been studied.

Objective: To demonstrate the efficacy of locking plate osteosynthesis performed by an L-shaped lateral approach in patients with Sanders type III and IV intra-articular calcaneal fractures with posterior facet displacement.
Methods: Fifty-three patients with Sanders type III or IV unilateral calcaneal fractures treated with locking plates and additional bone grafting were included in the study. Böhler and Gissane angles, and heel height values were measured on the radiological examinations.

Background: Left ventricular (LV) noncompaction cardiomyopathy is a rare cardiomyopathic subtype that has been recognized in recent years and is being diagnosed at an increased rate. There is no consensus regarding the diagnosis of the disease, and increased trabeculation rates that meet the existing diagnostic criteria may even be present in healthy asymptomatic people. This indicates that differentiating criteria for diagnosis are needed.

Purpose: The widespread use of computed tomography (CT) in COVID-19 may cause adverse biological effects. Many recommend to minimize radiation dose while maintaining diagnostic quality. This study was designed to evaluate the difference between findings of COVID-19 pneumonia on standard and low-dose protocols to provide data on the utility of the latter during initial imaging of COVID-19.

Purpose: Atrioventricular nodal reentry tachycardia (AVNRT) is the most common supraventriculer arrhythmia in daily clinical practice. Comorbidity of AVNRT and atrial fibrillation (AF) has been well documented in some patients and AF development has been observed more frequently in AVNRT patients during their long-term follow-up. This study was conducted in order to investigate the left atrial two-dimensional-speckle-tracking echocardiographic (STE) parametres as the predictors of the occurence of AF in long-term follow-up in patients with spontaneously developed AF during AVNRT ablation.

There is little evidence on the applicability of deep learning (DL) in the segmentation of acute ischemic lesions on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) between magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanners of different manufacturers. We retrospectively included DWI data of patients with acute ischemic lesions from six centers. Dataset A (n = 2986) and B (n = 3951) included data from Siemens and GE MRI scanners, respectively.

Background: A bypass is usually required to prevent ischemia during the treatment of anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA) aneurysms. The intracranial (IC)-to-IC bypass provides several advantages over the extracranial-to-IC bypass in the posterior fossa. However, there are only 2 case reports about AICA revascularization with the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA).

Purpose: Computed tomography (CT) premises are one of the strategic points in the spread of hospital-acquired infections. Ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) is an effective method that could potentially be used to purify the ambient air in them. However, it cannot be directly used in the presence of humans and, therefore, it is not operationally suitable in such units with continuous human circulation.
