Objective: The objective of this study is to provide a retrospective review of the 40-year experience of three oncology referral centers in the field of reconstructive laryngeal surgery.

Materials And Methods: A multi-institutional retrospective analysis included adult patients who underwent reconstructive laryngeal surgery for cT2-T4a laryngeal cancer (LC) between 1 June 1987 and 1 July 2019. Patients were stratified according to the European Laryngological Society classification for open partial horizontal laryngectomy (OPHL).

Retinal neurodegeneration (RN), an early marker of diabetic retinopathy (DR), is closely associated with Müller glia cells (MGs) in diabetic subjects. MGs play a pivotal role in maintaining retinal homeostasis, integrity, and metabolic support and respond to diabetic stress. In lower vertebrates, MGs have a strong regenerative response and can completely repair the retina after injuries.

Decreasing outer retina traumatism of ILM peeling in diabetic eyes with foveal sparing technique.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect on outer retina integrity of foveal sparing internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling compared to standard ILM peeling on proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) eyes affected by diabetic macular edema (DME) and epiretinal membrane (ERM).

Materials And Methods: Eyes diagnosed with PDR, DME and ERM eligible for vitrectomy were prospectively recruited and randomly assigned to either foveal sparing (FS) group and no foveal sparing (nFS) group. Materials And Methods: A survey was conducted among the blood banks affiliated with the Italian Association of Pediatric Hospitals.

A possible role of e-FAST in the hemodynamically stable polytrauma patient: results of a single trauma center preliminary restrospective study.

Purpose: The purpose of this work is to evaluate whether EFAST can also play a role in the hemodynamically stable polytrauma patient, without delaying his arrival in the CT-scan room.

Methods: In a period of seven month, 748 polytrauma patients were retrospective valued; we analyzed the findings of the CT exams of 485 haemodynamically stable patients for whom the EFAST investigation was not requested, highlighting the possible presence of findings that, if reported during the EFAST, could have changed the patient management.

Results: 52 hemodynamically stable patients with CT examination findings potentially detectable by ultrasound examination directly in the shock room, which represent a percentage of about 11% of all the hemodynamically stable patients analyzed; about 54% of CT findings are represented by the presence of pneumothorax.
