Article Synopsis
  • Prolamins found in wheat, barley, and rye are linked to health issues like celiac disease and wheat allergies, pushing the need for gluten-free alternatives like rice flour, though its products are not as high-tech.
  • Adding low-fat desiccated coconut flour and xanthan gum to rice flour significantly improves the quality and properties of gluten-free cakes, impacting viscosity, moisture, and texture.
  • The study successfully optimized a gluten-free cake recipe, achieving improved sensory qualities (taste, texture, etc.) through careful ratios of rice flour, coconut flour, and xanthan gum, validated by strong statistical models.

Omega (Westport)

December 2024

Department of Nursing, Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery, Tehran Medical Sciences, Islamic Azad University, Tehran, Iran.

The death of a spouse in the older adult is a devastating loss. Given that older adults employ unique strategies for adapting to bereavement, this study was conducted to aim explaining the adaptation strategies of the older adult in the face of death of a spouse. The experiences of 21 participants were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using the conventional content analysis approach of Lundman and Granheim's (2004), which led to the creation "Phantom Spouse" as the main category with four categories: "1-speaking to the deceased, 2- Establishing and maintaining the privacy of the deceased, 3- Being committed to the deceased, 4- Inducing the feeling of the presence of the deceased" and explained fourteen sub-categories.

Lung cancer (LC) is one of the most common causes of cancer-related death worldwide. It has been demonstrated that the prognosis of current drug treatments is affected by a variety of factors, including late stage, tumor recurrence, inaccessibility to appropriate treatments, and, most importantly, chemotherapy resistance. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) contribute to tumor development, with some acting as tumor suppressors and others as oncogenes.
