Background: Xerostomia, or dry mouth, is a common and debilitating symptom in patients with Sjögren's syndrome, affecting their quality of life. Although Cevimeline, a muscarinic agonist, has been investigated as a potential treatment, its efficacy and optimal dosage remain uncertain. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of Cevimeline in relieving xerostomia in patients with Sjögren's syndrome by a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials (RCT).

Large quantities of chemical herbicides are used in agroecosystems every year, which not only imposes a significant financial burden on farmers but also leads to environmental pollution. To address this challenge, the present study aimed to replace Treflan with Fedaleh essential oils (EO). Treflan is a commonly used chemical herbicide for spring-summer crops, and has been chosen as a prevalent and abundant weed in many agricultural ecosystems.

To prevent this complication, shorten the period of hospitalization and reduce morbidity, routine supplementation of oral vitamin D and calcium has been suggested. This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to critically assess the association between pre-operative calcitriol supplementation and post-operative hypocalcaemia.

The converter is designed to be utilized in hybrid photovoltaic fuel cell systems, among other renewable energy applications. The proposed dual-source inverter employs a single DC-AC converter, as opposed to conventional dual-source hybrid inverters which make use of several input DC-DC modules to obtain the voltage formed across the inverter's input DC-link.

Introduction: Differentiating the soft tissue abscess from other types of skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) poses a particular challenge because they have similar physical evaluation findings, but each disease has a different course, outcome, and treatment. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the diagnostic accuracy of point-of-care ultrasonography for diagnosis of soft tissue abscess in the emergency departments.
Methods: A comprehensive literature search of MEDLINE, Scopus, Web of Science, Embase, and Google Scholar, from inception to January 2023, was conducted to identify relevant studies investigating the diagnostic performance of point-of-care ultrasonography for identification of abscess.

In this paper, a novel nanocrystalline composite material of hydroxyapatite (HA)/polyvinyltrimethoxysilane (PVTMS)/iron(II)chloride tetrahydrate (ClFeH-O) with hexagonal structure is proposed for the fabrication of a gas/temperature sensor. Taking into account the sensitivity of HA to high temperatures, to prevent the collapse and breakdown of bonds and the leakage of volatiles without damaging the composite structure, a freeze-drying machine is designed and fabricated. X-ray diffraction, FTIR, SEM, EDAX, TEM, absorption and photoluminescence analyses of composite are studied.

Intensive chemical herbicide use has resulted in human health and environmental issues. This study evaluated the phytotoxic potential of chamomile extract as a bioherbicide to minimize chemical herbicide use in wheat production. Treatments including four concentrations (0, 50, 100, and 150 mL/L) of three different chamomile plant parts (root, shoot, and root + shoot) extracts were applied to flixweed as a major weed in wheat production.

Migraine headaches are highly prevalent, affecting 15% of the population. However, despite many studies to determine this disease's mechanism and efficient management, its pathophysiology has not been fully elucidated. There are suggested hypotheses about the possible mediating role of mast cells, immunoglobulin E, histamine, and cytokines in this disease.

Background: COVID-19 infection is a severe condition in pregnant women. Previous studies have suggested that anti-COVID-19 antibodies may be able to be transmitted from mother to fetus, which in itself is a protective factor in infants against the disease. However, few studies have been done in this area.

Mg-based alloys have several suitable properties for biomaterials, but they have major problems of being less antibacterial and have a low mechanical strength. To solve these problems, a new combination of Ag/Zn/Mg was prepared in this study, where the presence of Zn and Ag can help to increase the bioactivity. The use of 5 wt.

Introduction: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most prevalent cancer and the second significant cause of cancer-associated death worldwide. The microRNA-30 is a substantial member of the miRNA family and plays a vital role in expanding several cancers. This microRNA potentially targets interleukin 6 as an inflammatory cytokine in CRC.

Background: Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of ischemic heart disease and coronary artery disease. The process of atherosclerosis develops over a period of years and is mainly immune-mediated. Data regarding the prevalence of vascular disease and atherosclerosis among people with multiple sclerosis (pwMS) is inconsistent, therefore, we aimed to provide an overview of the prevalence of atherosclerotic risk factors in pwMS.

Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS) with unknown etiology and variable clinical evolution. Although the role of serum progranulin levels in the pathogenesis of MS remains unclear, it is well known that progranulin is involved in several physiological and pathophysiological process of CNS including modulation of neurite outgrowth, neuronal differentiation, and neuronal survival. Therefore, in this study, we aimed to measure serum levels of progranulin in patients with neuromyelitis optica (NMO) and relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) in comparison with healthy control subjects.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is known as one of important autoimmune disorders which can lead to joint pain and damage throughout body. Given that internal (ie, genetic and epigenetic alterations) and external factors (ie, lifestyle changes, age, hormones, smoking, stress, and obesity) involved in RA pathogenesis. Increasing evidence indicated that cellular and molecular alterations play critical roles in the initiation and progression of RA.

A novel one-pot two step tandem reaction for the synthesis of indolizine-1-carbonitrile derivatives (5a-i) was identified. The route comprises 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of aromatic aldehyde derivatives (1a-i), malononitrile (2) and 1-(2-(4-bromophenyl)-2-oxoethyl)-2-chloropyridin-1-ium (4) under ultrasound irradiation at room temperature in the presence of triethylamine at acetonitrile. The product compounds were tested against bacteria and fungi.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of central nervous system. Since different types of immune cells are involved in MS pathogenesis, in this study we aimed to evaluate serum levels of several immunological components including soluble CD4 (sCD4), sCD8, sCD163, and immunoglobulins as markers of activity of T-cells, macrophages, and B-cells in different types of MS. Serum levels of sCD4, sCD8, and sCD163 of patients with relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS, n=61), primary progressive MS (PRMS, n=31), secondary progressive MS (SPMS, n=31), clinical isolated syndrome (CIS, n=31) and neuromyelitis optica (NMO, n=31), and healthy controls (n=49) were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
