Prostate biopsy is the gold standard to confirm prostate cancer. In addition to standard 12-core biopsies, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided prostate biopsies have recently been introduced to improve the detection of clinically significant prostate cancer. The present study aimed to compare the complications after standard transrectal ultrasound-guided and standard plus targeted (MRI-guided) prostate biopsies, to study the impact of the number of biopsy cores on complication rates, and to compare complication rates after transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsies with those following transperineal prostate biopsies from the literature.

Background: Ambient temperature, particularly heat, is increasingly acknowledged as a trigger for preterm delivery but study designs have been limited and results mixed. We aimed to comprehensively evaluate the association between ambient temperature throughout pregnancy and preterm delivery.
Methods: We estimated daily temperature throughout pregnancy using a cutting-edge spatiotemporal model for 5347 live singleton births from three prospective cohorts in France, 2002-2018.

There is increasing evidence of a role for environmental contaminants in disrupting metabolic health in both humans and animals. Despite a growing need for well-understood models for evaluating adipogenic and potential obesogenic contaminants, there has been a reliance on decades-old in vitro models that have not been appropriately managed by cell line providers. There has been a quick rise in available in vitro models in the last ten years, including commercial availability of human mesenchymal stem cell and preadipocyte models; these models require more comprehensive validation but demonstrate real promise in improved translation to human metabolic health.

However, some patients were ultimately able to benefit from high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) and thus avoid intubation. Objectives: A recent treatment algorithm suggests that proximal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears with good-to-excellent tissue quality are amenable to primary repair. Our primary objective was to assess the ability of MRI to determine the exact tear location and tissue quality, using arthroscopy as a reference standard.
Methods: In an initial sample of 71 patients with prior ACL surgery (repair or reconstruction), the diagnostic accuracy of MRI was assessed using arthroscopy as a reference standard.

We conducted a multiancestry meta-analysis of prostate cancer genome-wide association studies (107,247 cases and 127,006 controls) and identified 86 new genetic risk variants independently associated with prostate cancer risk, bringing the total to 269 known risk variants. A total diet study (TDS) was conducted between 2010 and 2016 to assess the risk associated with chemicals in food of non-breast-fed children under three living in France. 291 composite food samples were prepared "as consumed" and analyzed for 16 trace elements: aluminium (Al), antimony (Sb), arsenic (As), barium (Ba), cobalt (Co), chromium (Cr), gallium (Ga), germanium (Ge), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), silver (Ag), strontium (Sr), tellurium (Te), tin (Sn), vanadium (V). Dietary exposure was assessed for 705 representative children using food consumptions recorded through a 3-consecutive-days record.

Childhood absence epilepsy (CAE) is one of the most frequent epilepsies in infancy. The first-line recommended therapy for CAE is based on the prescription of the narrow-spectrum ethosuximide and the broad-spectrum valproic acid, which have similar efficacy in the first 12 months. Nevertheless, some antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) may worsen seizure duration and type in this syndrome.

Multiple chemicals are emitted in residential accommodation. Aggregate Daily Doses (ADD) (ng/kg-bw/d) were estimated for 32 semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) of different chemical families that are frequently detected in French dwellings in both air and settled dust. Purpose: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is known to play a role in the development of head and neck squamous cell carcinomas (HNSCC) and to date, no study has reported on the association between oral HPV infection and HNSCC in the Caribbean. The objective was to determine the prevalence of oral HPV infection in the French West Indies (FWI), overall and by HPV genotype, among HNSCC cases and healthy population controls.

Recent research has demonstrated the importance of dermal exposure for some semivolatile organic compounds (SVOCs) present in the gas phase of indoor air. Though models for estimating dermal intake from gaseous SVOCs exist, their predictions can be subject to variations in input parameters, which can lead to large variation in exposure estimations. In this sensitivity analysis for a steady state model, we aimed to assess these variations and their determinants using probabilistic Monte Carlo sampling for 8 SVOCs from different chemical families: phthalates, bisphenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), organophosphorus (OPs), organochlorines (OCs), synthetic musks, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and polybromodiphenylethers (PBDEs).
