The infection hypothesis is a new causative explanation for Alzheimer's disease (AD). In recent decades, various species of bacterial pathogens have been distinguished in the autopsy of Alzheimer's patients; however, the mechanism of bacterial contribution to AD pathology is still unknown. To explore the hypothesis, Cutibacterium acnes (C.

The most prevalent and severe malignancy of the central nervous system within the brain is glioma. Glioma is a vascularized cancer, and angiogenesis is necessary for glioma growth, invasion, and recurrence. It is also believed that this factor is this factor to be accountable for therapy resistance in many cancers, including glioma.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by high blood sugar levels. It was shown that modulating the activity of α-glucosidase, an enzyme involved in carbohydrate digestion and absorption, can improve blood sugar control and overall metabolic health in individuals with T2DM. As a result, in the current study, a series of imidazole bearing different substituted thioquinolines were designed and synthesized as α-glucosidase inhibitors.

Background: Glycogen storage disease type IX is a rare disorder that can cause a wide variety of symptoms depending on the specific deficiency of the phosphorylase kinase enzyme and the organs it affects.
Case Presentation: A 4-and-a-half-year-old Caucasian girl was referred to our clinic with a liver biopsy report indicating a diagnosis of glycogen storage disease. Prior to being referred to our clinic, the patient had been under the care of pediatric gastroenterologists.

Background And Aim: Epidemiologic studies have shown that type 2 diabetes (T2D) is more prevalent worldwide; therefore, improving glycemic indices to prevent or control T2D is vital. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the effects of pomegranate consumption on glycemic indices have shown inconsistent results. Therefore, we aim to evaluate the impact of pomegranate consumption on fasting blood glucose (FBG), fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), and Homeostatic Model Assessment for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR) in adults.

The opioid crisis has become a significant public health concern in recent years. Although respiratory depression and overdose are the most reported side effects of fentanyl, there have been rare cases of cerebellar leukoencephalopathy (CLE) following fentanyl intoxication. A 29-year-old man with a history of opioid use disorder and intravenous drug use presented to the emergency room with significant ataxia and dysarthria following fentanyl intoxication.

Background: There is no clear consensus regarding the superiority of a combined anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with anterolateral ligament reconstruction (ALLR) versus an isolated ACLR. In this study, we compared the postoperative stability profile, complications, and patient-reported outcomes of these procedures.
Methods: Twenty-one patients with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear who were either treated by an isolated all-inside ACLR (n = 21) or a combined all-inside ACLR and ALLR (n = 20) were included.

We present a rare case of a 34-year-old woman with EC-AIA, highlighting the diagnostic challenges in distinguishing this malignancy from adenomyosis preoperatively. Conventional imaging methods exhibited limitations, necessitating post-surgery confirmation through comprehensive examinations.

During the past few decades, researchers have attempted to discover an effective treatment for cancer. Exosomes are natural nanovesicles released by various cells and play a role in communication between cells. While natural exosomes have high clinical potential, their inherent limitations have prompted researchers to design exosomes with improved therapeutic properties.

Lipid accumulation, inflammation, and oxidative stress are the most important causes of muscle insulin resistance. The aim of this study was to investigate the single and combined treatment effects of metformin (MET) and morin (MOR) on lipid accumulation, inflammation, and oxidative stress in the skeletal muscle of mice fed a high-fat diet. The mice were supplemented with MET (230 mg/kg diet), MOR (100 mg/kg diet), and MET + MOR for 9 weeks.

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most prevalent primary tumor found in the central nervous system, accounting for 70% of all adult brain tumors. The median overall survival rate is one year post-diagnosis with treatment, and only four months without treatment. Current GBM diagnostic methods, such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), surgery, and brain biopsies, have limitations.

Background: Kidney and ureter stones are the third pathologies in urological diseases. Less invasive treatments such as transureteral lithotripsy and extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy are used to treat ureteral stones. Data mining has provided the possibility of improving decision-making in choosing the optimal treatment.

Burns injuries are prone to hospital-acquired infections, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common causes of mortality and morbidity in patients with burn injuries. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the effects of topical treatment with bone marrow (BM-MSC) and adipose mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSC) encapsulated in collagen and fibrin scaffolds in a Balb/c model of burn wound infection. Extraction of stem cells from adipose and bone marrow tissue of rats was performed and cells were characterized using standard methods.

Low-level laser therapy (LLLT), also called Photobiomodulation, has gained widespread acceptance as a mainstream modality, particularly in the form of photobiostimulation (PBM). Here in our review, we aim to present the application of LLLT to help with depression, explore potential action mechanisms and pathways, discuss existing limitations, and address the challenges associated with its clinical implementation. In biological systems, the visible light with a wavelength range of 400-700 nm activates photoreceptors involved in vision and circadian rhythm regulation.

This study aims to predict radiotherapy-induced rectal and bladder toxicity using computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) radiomics features in combination with clinical and dosimetric features in rectal cancer patients.A total of sixty-three patients with locally advanced rectal cancer who underwent three-dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) were included in this study. Radiomics features were extracted from the rectum and bladder walls in pretreatment CT and MR-T2W-weighted images.
