In this research, new injectable and in situ photocurable elastomeric nanohybrids have been fabricated from polyalphaolefin (PAO) resins and halloysite nanofiller. In this regard, the co-oligomerization of long α-olefin monomers (C6, C8 and C10) with alkenol counterparts was carried out via a simple cationic route to provide OH-functionalized PAOs. The newly formed PAO type copolymer resins as well as halloysite nanoclay were then equipped with photocurable CC bonds containing an acrylate moiety.

Caffeine and halloysite nanoclay mineral that are bio-based compounds were utilized to synthesize a novel Lewis acid heterogeneous catalyst. To this aim, halloysite was functionalized with 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine and reacted with caffeine, which was then converted to ionic liquid via a reaction with ZnCl. The catalyst was applied for promoting the dehydration of fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural.

This study focuses on the utilization of connectionist models, specifically Independent Component Analysis (ICA), Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Genetic Algorithm-Particle Swarm Optimization (GAPSO) integrated with a least-squares support vector machine (LSSVM) to forecast the degradation of tetracycline (TC) through photocatalysis using Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the viability and precision of these connectionist models in estimating the efficiency of TC degradation, particularly within the context of wastewater treatment. The input parameters for these models cover essential MOF characteristics, such as pore size and surface area, along with critical operational factors, such as pH, TC concentration, catalyst dosage, and illumination duration, all of which are linked to the photocatalytic performance of MOFs.

In recent years, concerns about the presence of pharmaceutical compounds in wastewater have increased. Various types of residues of tetracycline family antibiotic compounds, which are widely used, are found in environmental waters in relatively low and persistent concentrations, adversely affecting human health and the environment. In this study, a resorcinol formaldehyde (RF) aerogel was prepared using the sol-gel method at resorcinol/catalyst ratio of 400 and resorcinol/water ratio of 2 and drying at ambient pressure for removing antibiotics like minocycline.

Steric indices are parameters used in chemistry to describe the spatial arrangement of atoms or groups of atoms in molecules. They are important in determining the reactivity, stability, and physical properties of chemical compounds. One commonly used steric index is the steric hindrance, which refers to the obstruction or hindrance of movement in a molecule caused by bulky substituents or functional groups.

In the pursuit of enhancing the catalytic potential of the Wells-Dawson (WD) polyoxometalate (POM) while addressing its solubility challenges, this study focuses on devising a sustainable catalyst that operates effectively in aqueous environments. Leveraging cyclodextrin (CD) polymer chemistry in conjunction with 3D printing technology, a CD nanosponge, recognized for its interaction with POMs and molecular shuttle attributes, is synthesized as a scaffold for WD immobilization. Through integration into a 3D-printed monolith framework, the supported WD species becomes embedded within the catalyst structure, facilitating its application.

In recent years, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have garnered considerable attention for their potential in carbon capture and utilization processes. Predicting the carbon dioxide (CO) solubility in DES is crucial for optimizing these solvent systems and advancing their application in sustainable technologies. In this study, we presented an evolving hybrid Quantitative Structure-Property Relationship and Gaussian Process Regression (QSPR-GPR) model that enables accurate predictions of CO solubility in various DESs.

Background: In general, bioactive glasses (BAGs) can react with tissue minerals and promote remineralization. However, the application of BAG in bonding agents and its impact on bond strength remain uncertain due to insufficient information and limited research in this area.
Materials And Methods: This study employed a randomized controlled design to assess the effects of composite-bonding agents with varying BAG contents on shear bond strength and fracture pattern in sound and demineralized teeth, with and without thermocycling.

Drug delivery strategies aim to maximize a drug's therapeutic efficiency by increasing the drug's concentration at the target site while minimizing delivery to off-target tissues. There is a great deal of interest in using magnetic nanoparticles in combination with applied magnetic fields to selectively control drug accumulation and release in target tissue while minimizing effects on other tissues. In this study, a magnetic targeted drug delivery system based on waterborne polyurethane nanomicelles was prepared by encapsulating hydrophobic doxorubicin (DOX, model drug) and hydrophobic oleic acid-superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPION-OA) into the hydrophobic core of waterborne polyurethane micelles (CPUM) using the solvent evaporation method.

In this study, we present a novel composite material consisting of β-cyclodextrin nanosponge and sodium alginate, used as a support for the immobilization of palladium (Pd) nanoparticles. The composite alginate-cyclodextrin nanosponge beads were prepared, taking advantage of the 3D polymeric network and β-cyclodextrin cavity of the nanosponge. These beads exhibited excellent encapsulation capabilities for hydrophobic substrates, allowing their transfer in aqueous media.

This work aimed to establish a novel membrane consisting of hemostatic polysaccharides, kappa-carrageenan (KC), and carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) in tandem with polyvinyl alcohol that spun together as a matrix and loaded with tranexamic acid (TXA) as antifibrinolytic agent for further coagulation effect during and after oral surgeries. The electrospinning of KC was done for the first time and in comparison of CMC has better hemostatic efficacy. The effect of the hemostat was investigated by its surface morphology (SEM), FTIR/ATR analysis, swelling behavior in both PBS and blood, hydrophilicity, porosity, mechanical properties, and cumulative release rate.

Curcumin, a natural compound with promising anti-cancerous features, suffers from a number of shortcomings such as low chemical stability, bioavailability, and solubility, which impedes its application as an alternative for conventional cancer therapy. In this study, curcumin comprising FeO/Chitosan/CQDs was fabricated through double emulsion method (W/O/W) for the first time to exploit its anticancer features while alleviating its limitation, making this nanocomposite promising in targeted drug delivery. Chitosan, a hydrophilic biopolymer, has incorporated to constitute an adhesive pH-sensitive matrix that can trap the hydrophobic drug resulting in controlled drug release in cancerous environment.
