However, in theory, T2-weighted (T2-w) MRI could also be used in VBM studies because of its sensitivity to pathology and tissue changes. We aimed to compare the T1-w and T2-w images to study brain structures in association with cognitive abilities.

In the present research, an attempt has been made to develop a new thin film microextraction method for the extraction of several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from aqueous samples collected from different industrial units prior to their analysis by gas chromatography combined with a flame ionization detector. In this approach, a thin iron mesh was modified by the formation of iron(II) oxinate on its surface and used for the extraction of analytes without an additional sorbent. For this purpose, first, the mesh was immersed in a sulfuric acid solution and then transferred into an 8-hydroxy quinoline (oxine) solution dissolved in ammonia solution.

Donkeys are in the Equidae family but have several differences from horses. There are many studies on the pathophysiology of pain and its clinical signs in horses, but data are limited for donkeys. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate biochemical effects of flunixin meglumine in donkeys subjected to pain induced by bloodless and surgical castration.

Differential Impact of VNTR Polymorphism in the CBS Gene on Gastric and Breast Cancers Risk.

The cystathionine beta-synthase (CBS) gene plays a critical role in numerous physiological processes, including cellular proliferation, bioenergetics, and redox balance, and has been implicated in many cancers, including breast and gastric cancers. Previous studies have suggested that VNTR polymorphism in intron 13 of the CBS gene may influence enzyme activity, as an increase in the number of repeats in this VNTR leads to a reduction in the activity of the CBS enzyme. In this case-control study, for the first time, we genotyped 107 patients with gastric cancer (and 111 healthy controls) and 138 patients with breast cancer (and 124 healthy controls) for the CBS VNTR polymorphism using PCR.

Methods: From March to July 2022 and 2023, apiaries ( = 10) were selected and classified as High Impact Areas (HIAs,  = 5) and Low Impact Areas (LIAs,  = 5) according to a 5-point environmental risk index based on factors affecting bee health sand related productions.

The experiments were conducted over two years (2019-2020) at the University of Kurdistan's research farm in the Dehgolan Plain, using a split-plot based on randomized complete block design with four replicates.

Neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's Disease (AD), Parkinson's Disease (PD), Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), are characterized by progressive neuronal loss and cognitive impairment (CI). The: Cysteine-X-cysteine chemokine ligand 12(CXCL12)/CXC chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4)/CXC chemokine receptor type 7 (CXCR7) axis has emerged as a critical molecular pathway in the development of CI in these disorders. This review explores the role of this axis in the pathogenesis of CI across these neurodegenerative diseases, synthesizing current evidence and its implications for targeted therapies.
