There are several studies that announce the inhibitory behavior of this sort of substance to strengthen the shield of metals, which is one of the positive benefits of green inhibitors. In the current investigation, Araucaria heterophylla studied as a green corrosion inhibitor to avert the mild steel during the acidic cleaning. The examination of this plant's ability to control corrosion at different concentrations in the acidic solution used certain expert measures.

High-Efficiency (21.4%) Carbon Perovskite Solar Cells via Cathode Interface Engineering by using CuPc Hole-Transporting Layers.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

EPFL: Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne, Department of Chemistry, Rue de Industries 17, 1050, Sion, SWITZERLAND.

Carbon perovskite solar cells (C-PSCs) represent a promising photovoltaic technology that addresses the long-term operating stability needed to compete with commercial Si solar cells. However, the poor interface contacts between the carbon electrode and the perovskite result in a gap between C-PSC's performances and state-of-the-art PSCs based on metallic back electrodes. In this work, Cu (II) phthalocyanine (CuPc) was rediscovered as an effective hole-transporting material (HTM) to be coupled with carbon electrodes.

LSD600: the first corpus of biomedical abstracts annotated with lifestyle-disease relations.

Database (Oxford)

January 2025

Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Blegdamsvej 3, Copenhagen 2200, Denmark.

Lifestyle factors (LSFs) are increasingly recognized as instrumental in both the development and control of diseases. Despite their importance, there is a lack of methods to extract relations between LSFs and diseases from the literature, a step necessary to consolidate the currently available knowledge into a structured form. As simple co-occurrence-based relation extraction (RE) approaches are unable to distinguish between the different types of LSF-disease relations, context-aware models such as transformers are required to extract and classify these relations into specific relation types.

Topical formulations containing 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) have been proven effective in preventing the proliferation of skin cancer cells. However, their use is linked to side effects such as inflammatory and allergic reactions. Dexamethasone (Dexa) is a synthetic glucocorticoid used across allergic reactions which can be useful in preventing the 5-FU side effects.

The wastewater from various industries contaminated with heavy metals poses significant environmental challenges. Biosorption has emerged as a widely used method for removing heavy metals from industrial wastewater. Pseudomonas atacamensis M7D1 is known to produce polysaccharides, but the potential of its polysaccharides as an adsorbent for heavy metal removal still needs to be explored.

The impact of various neurodegenerative diseases on the retina has been investigated in recent years using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Epilepsy, classified as a neurodegenerative disorder, has been indicated to affect the structural integrity of the retina. Moreover, there is ongoing debate regarding the relative contribution of disease pathogenesis and the consumption of anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) to these retinal changes.

Multifunctional dual-layer wound dressings hold significant promise for comprehensive full-thickness wound management by closely mimicking the native skin structure and features. Herein, we employed an innovative approach utilizing electrospinning techniques to develop a dual-layer dressing comprising a microfibrous Ecoflex®-Vanillin (Ex-Vnil) top layer (TL) and a nanofibrous Soluplus®-Insulin-like growth factor-1 (Sol-IGF1) bottom layer (BL). The tensile properties of dual-layer wound dressings were within the standard range for use in skin tissue regeneration.

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Aquaculture Nutrition and Feeds (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs), Key Laboratory of Mariculture (Ministry of Education), Ocean University of China, Qingdao 266100, China. Electronic address:

The excessive use of antibiotics in mariculture has surpassed permitted levels, leading to their release into surrounding waters and accumulation in cultured organisms, which poses risks to human health and highlighting the urgent need for alternatives to reduce antibiotic use. Therefore, the present study aimed to test four microbes including Debaryomyces hansenii, Ruegeria mobilis, Lactobacillus plantarum and Bacillus subtilis, on lowering Vibrio, promoting population increase and survival of Brachionus plicatilis. The digestive enzymes activity including α-amylase, lipase and protease, microbial retention and biochemical composition of rotifers were analyzed.

January 2025

Department of Food Science and Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Azadi Sq., Mashhad, Khorasan Razavi P.O. Box 9177948944, Iran. Electronic address:

Protein fibrillation complex mechanisms led to an emerging trend in research for years. The mechanisms behind whey protein isolate (WPI) fibrillation driven by divalent cations remained still a matter of speculation. All cations (Ca, Fe, Mg, and Zn) enhanced the microenvironment polarity through π-π stacking, and the amide I and II shifts confirmed the fibrillation.

Active Learning (AL) represents a transformative instructional approach that departs from traditional methods by immersing students in experiential learning activities such as problem-solving, discussions, role-plays, interactive engagement, and case studies. Despite its widely recognized potential, the effects of AL on psycho-affective constructs in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts remain underexplored. Hence, this study explored the impact of AL on EFL learners' motivation, attitudes, and anxiety in Iran.

Using direct method to estimate calcium digestibility of barley and soybean meal in quail chicks.

Poult Sci

January 2025

Department of Animal Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Zabol, Sistan 98661-5538, Iran. Electronic address:

The availability of calcium (Ca) in poultry diets is influenced by various factors, such as the feed ingredients used. This study assessed the apparent ileal digestibility (AID) and standardized ileal digestibility (SID) of Ca in barley and soybean meal (SBM) in young quail chicks using a direct method. Three diets were formulated, including a Ca-free basal diet to evaluate ileal endogenous calcium losses (IECaL), and two diets with barley or SBM as the sole Ca sources.
