PTH like substance secreting mesenchymal tumor causing oncogenic osteomalacia; unravelling the difficulties in localization - A report of 2 cases.

Background: Oncogenic osteomalacia is a rare paraneoplastic association of Phosphaturic mesenchymal tumor (PMT) secreting excessive levels of a PTH like substance. They usually remain undiagnosed and patients suffer for years. The rarity of this tumor and its non-specific clinical presentations poses great challenge to the treating surgeons.

Effectiveness of Adenoidectomy as a Standalone Procedure in Improving the Quality of Life of Children with Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Adenoid hypertrophy (AH) and its sequel like nasal obstruction, obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), recurrent rhinitis and middle ear disorders are common diseases of pediatric age group, forming the major bulk of pediatric outpatient visits. The recommended approach to treating OSA in children is through adenotonsillectomy. Adenoidectomy is the surgical procedure of removal of hypertrophied adenoid tissues, which is the most common surgery performed by Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) surgeons.

Background: Technical errors are the most common preventable cause of recurrence after high ligation and stripping procedures for the treatment of great saphenous vein incompetence. Ultrasound-assisted varicose vein surgery (UAVS) uses intraoperative ultrasound during high ligation and stripping to minimize such failures, although no data have been reported regarding its use during open surgery. The present study compared the short-term outcomes of UAVS and endovenous laser ablation (EVLA) with a 1470-nm laser.

Intracranial Germinoma Masquerading as Secondary Granulomatous Hypophysitis: A Case Report and Review of Literature.
