Autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) for pediatric diabetic retinal disease (DRD) screening has demonstrated safety, effectiveness, and the potential to enhance health equity and clinician productivity. The adaptor protein tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 3 (TRAF3) is a multifaceted regulator of lymphocyte biology that plays key roles in modulation of the molecular signals required for T-cell activation and function. TRAF3 regulates signals mediated by the T-cell receptor (TCR), costimulatory molecules, and cytokine receptors, which each drive activation of the serine/threonine kinase Akt. The impact of TRAF3 upon TCR-CD28-mediated activation of Akt, and thus on the diverse cellular processes regulated by Akt, including CD4 T-cell fate decisions, remains poorly understood.

Advancing age increases cardiovascular disease risk, in part, because of impaired glycocalyx thickness and endothelial dysfunction. Glycocalyx-targeted therapies, such as Endocalyx Pro, could improve both glycocalyx thickness and endothelial function in older adults; however, this has yet to be tested. Background: The focus on pain assessment using a single, one-dimension pain assessment scale can be problematic. Locally, challenges we faced with this were; a) pain was percieved as not being effectively managed, b) patients with chronic pain were not having their pain adequately controlled, and c) misconceptions and subsequent confusion between health care teams and patients related to what pain intensity scores mean to each individual.

Diabetic retinopathy can be prevented with screening and early detection. We hypothesized that autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) diabetic eye exams at the point-of-care would increase diabetic eye exam completion rates in a racially and ethnically diverse youth population. The endothelial glycocalyx is a dynamic, gel-like layer that is critical to normal vascular endothelial function. Heparin impairs the endothelial glycocalyx and reduces vascular endothelial function in a murine model; however, this has yet to be tested in healthy humans. We hypothesized that a single bolus dose of heparin would increase circulating glycocalyx components and decrease endothelial glycocalyx thickness resulting in blunted brachial artery vasodilation in healthy younger adults.
