Background: The role of the climate regarding atopic dermatitis (AD) in infants is still unclear. This study aimed to determine the relationship between meteorological conditions and the incidence of early AD.
Methods: The study was conducted using a retrospective design.

Aging poses obstacles to the functionality of human mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), resulting in a notable decline in their valuable contribution to myocardial infarction (MI). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a pivotal role in governing MSC aging; nonetheless, the specific mechanisms remain puzzling. This research delved into the value of miR-873-5p in the management of MSC aging and investigated whether the restraint of miR-873-5p could regenerate aged MSCs (AMSCs), thereby enhancing their healing success for MI.

Dairy protein hydrolysates possess a broad spectrum of bioactivity and hypoallergenic properties, as well as pronounced bitter taste. The bitterness is reduced by complexing the proteolysis products with cyclodextrins (CDs), and it is also important to study the bioactivity of the peptides in inclusion complexes. Hydrolysates of whey and colostrum proteins with extensive hydrolysis degree and their complexes with β/γ-CD were obtained in the present study, and comprehensive comparative analysis of the experimental samples was performed.

To date, there are no drugs that can prevent progressive destruction of lung tissue and small airway fibrosis in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Therefore, molecular mechanisms of this disease are being studied. The aim of this study was to determine the chemokine receptor expression pattern of B-lymphocytes from peripheral blood and airways of patients with COPD.

Temperature is an important abiotic factor that modulates all aspects of ectotherm physiology, including sensitivity to pollutants. Nanoparticles are emerging pollutants in coastal environments, and their potential to cause toxicity in marine organisms is a cause for concern. Here we studied the interactive effects of temperature (including seasonal and experimental warming) on sublethal toxicity of ZnO nanoparticles (nano-ZnO) in a model marine bivalve, the blue mussel Mytilus edulis.

We analyzed mid- to long-term Cs wash-off from the catchments contaminated due to the Chernobyl accident in 1986 and the Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant accident in 2011. A semi-empirical diffusional model for radionuclide wash-off is proposed to enable estimation of the dissolved and particulate Cs wash-off ratios for the Chernobyl and Fukushima contaminated catchments; the differences in the wash-off characteristics for these two regions are explained and their long-term trends predicted. The model is based on the premise that the catchment topsoil layer is the source of sediments in the rivers, and the radionuclide concentration in the topsoil can be described by a simple diffusion equation.

Results of a study on microstructural evolution of eutectic Sn-57 wt.% Bi processed with cooling rates of 10, 1 K s and approximately 10 K s are presented. In order to distinguish different mechanisms of microstructure formation, a comparison with microstructures of different hypoeutectic alloys with compositions down to below the maximum solubility of Bi in Sn-Bi is undertaken.
