Background: Recent recommendations from the French High Authority of Health on pelvic organ prolapse (POP) management underline the value of a pelvic examination.
Objectives: The aim of this paper was to analyze the literature and identify the best evidence available regarding pelvic examination for women presenting prolapse-associated symptoms in terms of diagnosis and predictability of treatment success.
Search Strategy: The databases were queried similarly using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) and non-MeSH terms broadly related to pelvic examination and POP management.

Research Question: How do different warning indicators help to identify disabling dysmenorrhoea among women in young adulthood?
Design: A nationwide cross-sectional study of women aged 18-25 years from the CONSTANCES cohort was constructed. Disability was assessed with the Global Activity Limitation Indicator question 'For the past 6 months, have you been limited in routine activities?Yes, severely limited/Yes, limited/ No, not limited'. Dysmenorrhoea pain intensity and other chronic pelvic pain symptoms (dyspareunia and non-menstrual pain) were evaluated according to questions from a specific questionnaire.

Uterine factor infertility (UFI) is defined as a condition resulting from either a complete lack of a uterus or a non-functioning uterus due to many causes. The exact prevalence of UFI is currently unknown, while treatments to achieve pregnancy are very limited. To evaluate the prevalence of this condition within its different causes, we carried out a worldwide systematic review on UFI.

Dysmenorrhoea, dyspareunia, and non-menstrual chronic pelvic pain (NMCPP) are symptoms that are probably underreported and neglected. This study aimed to assess the prevalence and overlapping relations between these symptoms among a general population of French women of reproductive age. A cross-sectional study among the nationwide CONSTANCES cohort study recruiting a representative sample of women within different French areas was constructed.

Objective: We aimed to assess the impact of an educational program on the symptoms and quality of life of patients undergoing supervised pelvic floor muscle training (PFMT). Secondary objectives included: baseline assessment of patients' knowledge of the pelvic floor; and patient satisfaction and symptom improvement after the entire PFMT program.
Material And Methods: An observational questionnaire-based study in women attending a PFMT program consisting of four educational sessions, one visual feedback session, and five personalized training sessions.

Objectives: At the time of controversies on surgical treatment of pelvic organ prolapse, our aim was to describe an effective technique of hysterocolpectomy with colpocleisis for elderly patients not wishing to maintain vaginal sexual activity and present mid-term results including pelvic floor symptoms and quality of life, patient satisfaction and surgical complications using validated scores.
Study Design: We conducted a retrospective study of all patients having undergone this surgery between June 2006 and June 2016. Women were examined using POP-Q classification and completed validated questionnaires concerning symptoms and quality of life before and after the surgery.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Ultrasound measurement of urethral mobility is an attractive approach to directly visualize bladder neck descent (BND) during stress. BND assessed by transperineal ultrasound appears to be associated with stress urinary incontinence (SUI) severity. This study evaluated the inter- and intra-observer reliability of ultrasound BND measurement and its correlation with clinical examination.

Introduction And Hypothesis: We aimed to evaluate the medium-term results of laparoscopic sacropexy (LSP) with validated self-administered questionnaires of symptoms and quality of life and to identify pre-, intra-, and postoperative predictors of postoperative dissatisfaction.
Methods: The study included 152 women who had LSP for stage 2 or higher pelvic organ prolapse (POP). The study population comprised women who had completed the preoperative symptom questionnaire (including the PFDI-20 and ICIQ-SF).

Purpose: Maintaining urinary continence at stress requires a competent urethral sphincter and good suburethral support. Sphincter competence is estimated by measuring the maximal urethral closure pressure at rest. We aimed to study the value of a new urodynamic measure, the urethral closure pressure at stress (s-UCP), in the diagnosis and severity of female stress urinary incontinence (SUI).

Introduction And Hypothesis: Obstetric trauma during childbirth is considered a major risk factor for postpartum urinary incontinence (UI), particularly stress urinary incontinence. Our aim was to investigate the relation between postpartum UI, mode of delivery, and urethral descent, and to define a group of women who are particularly at risk of postnatal UI.
Methods: A total of 186 women were included their first pregnancy.

Objectives: To assess the impact of an educational intervention based on an original accreditation training program on the quality of emergency sonography performed by obstetrics and gynecology (Ob/Gyn) residents.
Methods: We conducted a prospective before-after study on residents who performed bedside standardized sonographic examinations as first-line investigations in patients seen at our gynecologic emergency department. In both periods, the residents followed a 1-hour class taught by a board-certified Ob/Gyn sonography expert (opinion leader) and received a written standardized imaging protocol.

Pelvic Floor Disorders (PFD) are a major public health problem in the world and decrease seriously the patient's quality of life. In case of recurrence after surgery or complex prolapse, imaging techniques can be used. Dynamic MRI, introduced in the early 1990s, offers information of the four compartments of the pelvis with a high resolution and a direct visualization of muscles and fascias in multiple planes.

Aims: Our aim was to study risk factors associated with prevalence, incidence, and remission of UI 4 and 12 years after first delivery.
Methods: Seven hundred seventy-four nulliparous women who gave birth in 1996 in two French maternity units at term received a questionnaire about their urinary symptoms in 2000 and again in 2008. Two hundred thirty-six women returned a questionnaire about UI 4 and 12 years after first delivery.
