Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has emerged as a standard of care across a variety of healthcare settings due to its ability to provide critical clinical information and as well as procedural guidance to clinicians directly at the bedside. Implementation of enterprise imaging (EI) strategies is needed such that POCUS images can be appropriately captured, indexed, managed, stored, distributed, viewed, and analyzed. Because of its unique workflow and educational requirements, reliance on traditional order-based workflow solutions may be insufficient.

Article Synopsis
  • Longitudinal patient relationships can enhance medical students' professional identity formation and understanding of illness, but implementing a traditional longitudinal integrated clerkship (LIC) may not always be possible.
  • The Patient Student Partnership (PSP) program at the University of Virginia School of Medicine pairs students with chronic illness patients over four years, blending experiential learning with the existing block curriculum.
  • Student feedback indicates that the PSP program fosters connections between classroom theory and clinical practice, improves communication skills, and enhances self-reflection on their future roles, with 80.6% agreeing it allowed them to observe the impact of chronic illness on patients' lives.
  • Future research is needed to assess the program’s effectiveness in promoting professional identity formation similar to LICs and to improve student

Introduction: The WHO neglected tropical diseases (NTD) roadmap (2021-2030) proposed a shift in approach to addressing NTDs through accountability for impact, implementing integration across NTDs, mainstreaming in national health systems and ensuring country ownership. However, a major challenge has been the dearth of evidence on how to implement this shift in a resource-limited setting. The objective of this scoping review is to understand the extent and type of evidence on the mainstreaming or integration of programmes and/or interventions against NTDs into the national health system.
